Hmm so I finished the drama in like 3~4 days, I think the acting are all great but the plot is kinda so so for me... I wished they could come out of the overused typical Korean trope but overall I would say its still a well produced show.
For me I do feel Seo Hyunjin does suit better with a more mature looking actor rather than Hwang In Yeop even though he acted really well too! I'm definitely not saying he didn't perform well for this role but rather he look kinda too young for his age, I do think an actor who looks more mature than the given age would work better for the pairing!
And for the typical setup that I not even surprise anymore... No matter how smart and daring the FL is, they always become the "small" woman when the ML comes into picture... And Heo Jun Ho's character unconditional acceptance and tolerance towards his older son was honestly quite disappointing for me. If the plot could add a little detail such that Choi Tae Gook showed signs of wavering to the older son and thinking of letting the younger son take over the company would definitely give the story much more tension towards the climax. The supporting characters too had too little to no presence which I feel can be done better!
What I was confused while watching the drama is the fact that Choi Tae Gook went through so much to frame Gong Chan during his trial but ended up finding another scapegoat to replace him in jail... I was like WHY??? Maybe I've missed some scenes while I was distracted but I really don't get it or is it just because they heard rumors about a new programme will dig into their matter? Honestly, they could have just think of other ways and make Gong Chan serve jail term all the way instead of creating more trouble for themselves...
Another thing that I find it odd is where in the world did Gong Chan saved so much money that he could buy an entire building? Even if he was worked really hard at the seafood market and was very thrifty, its nearly impossible that he could purchase a building in Seoul not forgetting how bloody expensive their real estates are...
I really loved Seo Hyun Jin's role in Beauty Inside and I think that drama will forever stay as the best out of all her works... I do hope both Seo HyunJin and Hwang In Yeop will get even better opportunities but for the drama I can only say its the starting few episodes that managed to clinched viewership!
I didn't knew about the story of Ada Liu, its my first time seeing this actress in a drama and to be honest her…
Yup I also got to know of this news because I was still pretty active on the Chinese social media at that time... And as a bystander, the situation was truly horrendous and sickening because the guys were abusing their popularity to influence the fans and netizens' opinion... I truly hope such incidents will never happen ever again!
Yes I finally completed this drama after waiting for like 2 years after its first trailer!!! Great great drama given that C-dramas has been rather disappointing for quite a long while now especially for the historical genre! The cast is just wonderful and unexpected for the great chemistry and synergy, Chen Xiao and Liu Yi Fei together in a drama again is a total gift from heavens and their "lovers" set up is so believable and so sweet just by watching it!
Jelly Lin's acting gave me a big sight of relieve as she's finally starting to act well/normal in her roles after so many past dramas she had destroyed with her real bad acting.
Ada Liu's performance here made me so happy for her that Ada Liu could finally get her revenge against the people who bullied her in real life! If you have watched the scene whereby Sun San Niang throwing Du Chang Feng into the river for him saying demeaning words towards the three ladies, though it was a super funny scene but you may not know how is this scene related to a real past controversy of Ada Liu. What happened was that Ada Liu was the bridesmaid to her celebrity friend's wedding in China and after the ceremony ended, the Groom along with Groomsman decided to "prank" Bridesmaid by throwing one of them into the pool/pond in the venue which ended up they chose Ada Liu because she had "great figures"... The situation ended really ugly due to the fact that all the guys involved didn't bother to apologies nor admit they were wrong but instead pushed the fault to Ada Liu for making a big deal out of a small issue when she wasn't the one who blow up the issue (She was even made to apologise on the situation!). Since then, she was bullied by the Groom and Groomsmen's fans/netizens name calling her being "slutty" and many disgusting behaviors from the internet...
I really like how the story is setup especially the smooth ending leading towards the last few episodes which many dramas tend up end up rushing or make sudden bad ending due to poor management of quality checks. I particularly like Xu Hai Qiao, Guan Yun Peng and Zhang Xiao Qian's splendid acting here and made their mediocre roles stood out! Though Xu Hai Qiao's character isn't a good one at all but honestly his performance here really make you forget he's an actor and really naturally progressed from a timid guy to turning evil. Guan Yun Peng's character expressions are really charismatic when it could have been a mediocre character if not acted right! Just that his initial behavior from a small soldier to when he became the right-hand man was kinda odd for me as it does seemed that he had motives getting close to the Gu Jian Fan and not as innocent/righteous as portrayed.
So there are certainly quite a few flaws even though it was nicely produced. One would be the fact that Zhao Pan Er managed to be on intimate/good terms with many "foe" characters so easily every time she used her sincerity is quite unrealistic TBH... Olden days people in these capital cities are honestly not as trustable and easily persuadable as what was portrayed in this drama due to their complicated environment and strict social classes...
Overall, really recommended for everyone to watch and enjoy the natural sweetness of the main couple and feel real satisfied with all the revenge they have taken on those who kept bullying and belittling them!
Why they didn’t list her movie Mulan. I hope they don’t do that to all the Asian actors and actresses, if…
Hi it's precisely because Mulan is an Hollywood (American) produced movie, therefore no one will be able to add any of Liu Yi Fei's foreign films onto this platform as they only allow Asian productions. I know it's a great pity that so many of her hard work couldn't be shown here but I guess there really isn't anything we can do unless kisskh decides to make changes to their policy and regulations...

Totaly agree! I really wanted TaeJun to yell at his parents and just expose them to their wrongdoings a bit. I…
Quite looking forward to the Park Ju Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop's future projects because these two really can act well and are versatile whichever roles they are given! They look so sweet and puppy-like in this drama and really hope all the best for them!
Hmm so I kinda dragged the drama in the middle and finally finished it today watching at X1.5 speed... Not trying to discourage anyone from watching but I think I know why this drama ended up recording a low viewership in Korea.
First of all, the overall story and the ending is definitely great if you are looking into a comfort/healing drama. All things eventually got wrapped up nicely although there were some parts that I couldn't really agree on. There are many lighthearted and sweet moments during the start of this story, FL and ML clicked really well together as they delved deeper into their relationship and their past! 2nd couple is super cute as well!
Another point that is good is that it's a relieve the characters made up and resolved their past regrets and the hurt caused. This part will sit very well for anyone who had watched 2521 and felt immensely disappointed with the ending. For me, I felt both dramas' ending are well made and logical given that both of them had quite a different story setting. 2521 was more focused on the process of growing up to adulthood and facing common issues outside of their career/lifestyle, which is why after the all the characters made it into their adulthood they still miss their old days together. Love all play on the other hand, mostly focused on untangling what happened from the accident 3 years ago that tormented everyone who were involved. Eventually, Junyoung moved on from her pain and regrets, reconcile with Taeyang.
So for the parts that I felt really draggy and kept me in low spirits was the fact that because of the unspoken accident, Taeyang always seem drowned by her guilt... Though she tried to walk out of it but as usual there are always things or nosy people that hinders her way back to normal life. It's understandable that her team mates could not accept her at the start since there were rumors flying around about her but I'm speechless how a pro-athlete team can behave so childishly for so long... I know such things do occur in real sports organisations but honestly I don't think such behaviors is suitable to keep emphasizing for a drama. Junyoung and her parents as well kept delving themselves in victims' mentality, this part really made me skip it every time they show it... It is true that she was a victim but what's done is already done and they have made their own decisions for it too.
I hate TaeJun's parents the most! I'm sorry to say this but if I were the ML I would have left the family already. The parents are literal hypocrites...
Thus, I guess if you are experiencing some depressing times yourself, I would not recommend you to watch as the negative parts does go on for quite a few episodes. If really want to watch, maybe you can skip the middle episodes when the JunYoung returned to korea. Skipping to almost last few episodes won't make you feel lost as the story plot is kinda predictable.
Hmm love triangle would be the crush that Ah liang had for Doc Ah Kui while Doc Kui and Doc Ti Na having mutual feelings but both of them refusing to be frank about it until finally a confession in the last episode.
FL and ML definitely had a "breakup" in last few episodes in order for both of them to truly acknowledge their slump, but ended up together when ML finally made it as an apprentice at a restaurant while FL finally went back to her former hospital after overcoming her mental fears.
I love this drama's message because it showed that love is beyond just shallow romance and it can do much more stuff.
I felt quite emotional after finishing this drama and I've got to say it's really too short for such a well made story! They indeed spent a lot of time understanding the medical and hospital industry and their culture which really reflected great when the actors are delivering their scenes.
This is what I really call an all-rounder medical drama! They did not over exaggerate how holy the hospitals are because end of day businessmen only treat these hospitals as money making machines... I'm also really glad that the FL and ML played their roles really well along with other casts that created the sometimes comical and other times serious ambiance.
For anyone hoping for some BL scenes, I'm sorry to say there isn't any of such scenes... Because it was Ah Liang's one-sided crush on Doc Ah Kui~ Still funny to see their scenes but nope they did not end up together.
What I felt really lovey dovey was how the ML kept wooing after the FL because he gave his virginity to her but ended up just to get a cold face back as they progressed to really understand each other's pain and slowly falling for each other~
Really recommend everyone to watch it! You won't have regrets watching and it's not dry like most medical dramas!
For anyone wondering if there is English subtitles, I think you can check out Netflix if they have included it since this drama is airing there as well!
Really great rom-com when you are tired of typical overbearing boss with brainless naive FL romance genre~ Be it from the reality aspect to the novel world, I think all was done really well especially the multiple sides of the characters! Super funny because FL kept doing many dumb stuff and ML's reaction when she does it!
Overall, this drama had one of the best chemistries in this saturated "idol" drama market! FL isn't some idiotic woman, she has her moral values in terms of recognizing the ML in reality or in novel as separate individuals even though she had hoped for them to be the same person initially. Both the MLs also had quite an interesting story to their parts. I particularly love how the FL tried everything she didn't dare to do in reality in the novel world~ A lot of troupes but she has her way of tackling it!
What I felt kind of emotional about was the fact that Qing Feng (2nd ML) had to become a "floating" character from stories to stories because his original novel did not have a ending... Honestly he's quite the charming guy where he actually regained conscious from his story setup at some point and acted much more freely in the novel!
Really recommended for everyone to watch which I kinda regret not watching it during its release! Now I'm still feeling the aftertaste of this drama, some sweetness and some bitterness because 2nd ML could only stay as a fictional character~ I almost thought he would appear at the very end to show that actually he is real person in reality too...
Great story considering it's a completely original script! And I really hope China can produce more of these quality original scripts and not solely focus on IP adaptations...
So for the good parts that I like is the fact that all these cases are somehow interlinked with each other under one big conspiracy. All actors here also acted relatively well and close to their characters, Wang Jun Kai's acting did improved over these years though I would appreciate if he can have more natural portrayal of minor emotional changes when met with sudden situations that caught the character off guard... Zhang Yi definitely have no problems with his acting, perfectly shown his character's growth from a reckless and immature rookie policeman to a matured man with responsibilities!
For some parts that I didn't find it realistic would be the fact that Zhuang Wen Jie being so naive on believing "harmless" people approaching him... Like he is born from a thieve family of generations and being wit and alert of their surrounding dangers would honestly be already an natural born instinct... Yet he trusted the villain so easily with just a few words that can't be crossed-check. And the whole time, both Zhuang wen jie and Luo Jian actually didn't quite trust each other even though they kept saying it. Like as a policeman, they are actually taught how to tackle people who are distrustful of police which obviously Luo Jian didn't use his skills properly instead kept making zhuang wen jie doubt his intentions...
And for most the story, actually it's not zhuang wen jie working with the police to crack the cases but rather him always getting caught in between the thieves and police and ended up struggling internally which side to believe and help.
For the viewers who are confused by the ending message, the dad is most probably not dead and has been actually hiding to see which path his son has chosen to walk. This drama series is supposedly a three-part series from what the producer had claimed which is why there is so many loose ends in this drama but I'm not sure if we would be able to see the other two parts air given how volatile the Chinese entertainment industry is.
How did people reached that conclusion? The grandmother/mother said she met him not long ago in the present days…
Yup I get your point! Sorry if I sounded too critical in my previous comment. I guess sometimes relationships doesn't go the way we want just because we think we can save each other by hanging onto it... Breaking up is hard but if we know by doing so can save someone then why not because end of day wanting to support or loving someone really doesn't mean you have to be tgt.
I feel yah and agree with what you said. After director Yin Tao (from Love and Redemption) left with his screenwriters…
ALP's issues were with casting unsuitable actors for the roles... Acting (overexaggerated facial expression) , main actors' posture/image, overall poor produced script and lame characters' setup made the entire drama unwatchable... I gave up the show on ep 1 and watched some reviews and highlights and didn't regret dropping the show to save myself from wasting my patience. Just don't watch it to save yourself from rolling eyes throughout the episode!
I feel yah and agree with what you said. After director Yin Tao (from Love and Redemption) left with his screenwriters…
Honestly I was very worried how this drama will turned out before its premiere... The director's work in Ancient Love Poetry was just an utter piece of trash and that really got me wandering if this drama will end up becoming the same which I'm slightly relieved that the actors didn't do shit on their role but the story is still hopeless. Once again another rather failed S+ big budget drama wasted.
Hmm just finished the drama and to be very honest this drama does have many loopholes and entire script was rather on the surface/predictable plots but I still enjoyed it given that there are many familiar faces in this cast and acting wise is fine with me :)
I know many people criticized them for the unrealistic martial arts choreographies and "plagiarized" script lines but other than that is definitely watchable for me. For the rumored "plagiarized" parts, I don't really care because only the insiders know what's going on and since all scripts has to go through multiple revisions, thus end outcome only production teams know.
For me, I just didn't like the fact this drama's scriptwriter made most of the supporting characters' part very superficial and super little screen time even though the novel had much more elaborations of them... If you are just watching for Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi then you will love it since all the damn plot focus and screen time is on them.
Most of the parts that I found it really predictable was Han Pu, Bai Lang Hua and Hua Chun Ran's character setup. Han Pu being the only child character typically always gets sacrificed in the end to push for main plot's development... Lang Hua's the super typical "brat" character that usually makes no sense in whatever they do in the most dramas' plot but always gets added in to make the casted characters look more "diverse"... I particularly felt a pity for her character since they could have made her more wise and having faith in Bai Feng Xi's moral values, like seriously Bai Feng Xi has always been a very protective and loving elder sister to the sect and there is no reason for junior sect members doubt her actions... For Hua Chun Ran, hmm I don't know but she character's plot seems to be have gotten much deleted parts to the point that she became like an extra for the story...
Overall I would say the scriptwriters did do a bad job given that it's one of Tencent's big budget project on the year... But since I'm familiar with most of the casts and how they performed generally, their acting and overall stun moves are ok for me.
Omg finally a ML with stoic face but yet expressive in his way too! I've seen just too many actors the moment they act in characters that are less expressive, they just ended up showing a real "stone" face as though the character has no internal emotions nor any minor expression changes... Those who know which actors I'm pinpointing will understand my JOY here! This drama deserves more episodes honestly. No dumb misunderstandings, no typical depiction of WORKING women and the romance here is so much more natural and really comical!
What I'm finding it funny is the fact that they actually deleted the scene where Lian Ge Yao misinterpreted Ding Man was in love with Jiang Kan thinking he was gay~ Like they suddenly jumped scenes from misunderstanding to sudden realization out of nowhere XD
Super recommended to watch if you are into rom-com dramas! Some more there is no brainless FL or stupid overused plots like what many mainstream idol dramas do.
True that!!! I’m literally watching the last episode now as I type, been hunting for dramas I can binge-watch…..…
Haha do give Reset and 2521 a try :) The plots are unique and realistic and not forgetting the superb chemistry/synergy of all cast! I think both dramas did great because they managed to pull off the couple part really well despite having quite a big age gaps as well as having well written scripts. Yup don't worry I will be catching up all my previously left halfway dramas soon!
