This drama is ridiculously silly. However, so delightfully engaging. For instance, why doesn't Shun Yu have a crutch? Hilarious. Xia Shang Zhou looked resplendent in that suit. He's the lion seriously out to get and slaughter his prey! It does make me smile.
This series is deep. Dark. Layered. Complex and beautifully told across today and yester years. Such a very clever mix. Stunning cinematography. Lovely chemistry between our leads. Believable angst and dialogue amongst 2nd leads and supporting cast, which I like. Doesn’t feel like fillers, and most importantly, they play a crucial role in the story. Clever me thinks.
To this day, I don’t get Asian culture’s obsessive mindset on the subject of cheating. How can life ever be so black and white, as our hearts will 💯 always rule our heads, irrespective of our beliefs and how clever we are!? Our hearts will always overule our heads. FACT. My Jin, in my mind never cheated. He simply never had the balls, up until now to tell that bitch how he felt about her… and all because of primarily his parents and the curse.
A clever, thoughtful, adult drama, I’m seriously enjoying.
So for any of you saying that Shin forgetting Minato is just lazy writing, it is a real thing:"Systematized amnesiaSystematized…
I hear you. However, that doesn’t mean it makes for captivating audience viewing, or indeed a good drama and especially 10 episodes into the second series.
This is so deliciously fucked up! So very fucked up! However, in a very nice way! Respect to the writer(s) and director. Our main leads want to fuck in terms of Boston and Top. Isn't this what gay men do naturally to unleash the beast once they know?! I know my friends do and I adore them for it. This feels real. It is refreshing to watch, especially as we know it will seriously implode for our sides who find themselves falling in love with such characters. I'm here for this. I'm so here.
There was something about this drama which made it hugely engaging for its audience. It did what it set out to do - that being, light, fluffy, entertaining while delivering natural chemistry between our leads. Jiang Chi was especially intriguing to watch on screen, he played his role beautifully complementing the dork that is Gu Bu Xia. That being said, I preferred the earlier episodes to the later ones.
This drama is such captivating viewing. The dialogue and communication is written in a way that only Japanese writers can capture and deliver - very special indeed. I find myself literally mesmerised by Mashiko Atsuki's beauty. He is utterly stunning. I can't stop looking at his lips.
I really disliked episodes 1 & 2, but 3 & 4 were much better. I struggle with the sound quality and terrible editing and flow between Sun Woo and Kyeom scenes.
I like the script for Daddy Jun. It’s direct. Sexy. Provocative. He also has blinding screen presence. That hard-on scene should go down in history. It was hilarious and a first for a BL. What I am struggling with is how three grown ass, handsome men, would ever fancy a character like squishy Jun. He’s incredibly bland on screen. Looked nothing like an idle and is even more useless as an office worker. I did like that he took the initiative in telling Daddy Jun first that he liked him.
This wasn’t a bad watch. Our leads had good chemistry. The plot was just a little too far fetched for me. I just wanted Lom to grow some balls as an adult and tell those insufferable mothers.
The original WHY R U was one of my early favourites in the world of BL. I’ve re-watched it many times. This is just not it. It feels cheap, cliche ridden and the script beyond amateurish. Why I ask? Why re-make this and so badly.
Got to say, MAME is a woman of laughable storytelling. Some lines and scenes actually have me laughing out loud, but for all the wrong reasons. However, for some reason, she seems to be able to engage her audience and I'm engaged as to where she's going to take us. She definitely knows how to direct believable sex scenes, intimacy, passion and chemistry amongst her leads.
I guarantee the next episode with be full of fluff, fluff, fluff and cliches' galore as Lom fights to get his man and then in the final episode we get to deal with the mothers and who in fact, will eventually, walk down the aisle. Perhaps it will be a double wedding? MAME loves a wedding. Prepare your hats.
So nobody's going to say it? The most ridiculous thing in this episode? There is no way any gay man is going on…
I actually found myself laughing out loud at this comment and especially over the McDonald's. Like, what the actual fuck! There's a whole table of freshly prepared, home cooked food and your man bring you a processed McDonald's! I'd dump his sorry arse.
Also, naked in the morning and not sleeping in a jumper, long-sleeved t-shirt, thick joggers or fully clothed in what is a country of serious, serious heat. What is that all about in Asian drama land?
Also, I've visited Chiang Mai, and I seriously don't think McDonald's has a store. #JustSayin
As always Maggi beautifully said. I too adored it and for all the reasons you stated. However, as @etoks21 pointed…
This one definitely makes my Top 5. However, I have to admit, Tharntype blew my mind as it was one of the first seriously out there BL dramas (the others I watched just cute and fluffy) I'd ever watched, followed by Kinnporsche. Semantic Error and Blueming for great storytelling and chemistry. Currently loving Jun & Jun, but not to the extent of the above, much like Stay By My Side and Stay with Me.
By the way, have you read the book, Advance Bravely? Damn, it's seriously filthy, filthy sexy and hot. It introduced me to a whole new level of sexual positions way beyond the Kamasutra. China did that bromance a MASSIVE disservice with the bromance drama.

I’m thinking the boys have all noticed that Little Jun has a sizeable asset in his trousers - because it sure isn’t about his personality. 🤣
