I totally agree with your thought process, especially the part where you said his niceness was a façade, which it was to deal with pain. A good development of his character would be as you said to express himself and not be nice. However, he is a surfer and us surfers don't do stress and confrontation.
Damn, damn, I have all the feels as they say! South Korea, you're finally getting your BL shit together. So many disappointments this year, however you're clawing it back big stylie. I feel like you've finally got your BL shit together - please don't stop. This is exactly what I think us viewers want to see. Thoughtful, realistic, adult, quirky, creative, innovative script writing, with a narrative that actually makes sense to our brains, coupled with stunning cinematography and sublime chemistry amongst actors who can actually act and aren't just beautiful on the eye. Do you hear me #Skyy2NeverLetMeGo #ChainsofHeart and all the other dismal, appalling Thai shows which are, if you're honest with yourselves, totally unwatchable. #Future. #LoveSyndrome3. #TinTemJai come to mind.
The councillor I adored - seriously hardcore. I loved that she sounded him out as selfish, as he was. So narcissistic, locked up in his PTSD brain of thoughts and depression. However, I got where his head was at and his rationale for ghosting Ji Hyun. Protect the ones you love and your heart and soul to survive comes to mind.
The writing throughout has been utterly gorgeous for a BL. Honestly, to my brain a breath of fresh air. Just thinking about EP 9, when Ji Hyun's friend said: "Do you think he's serious"? When he said he wants to call if off and Ji Hyun responds: " I don't think he's serious. I can see it in his eyes." And, for me, you always could. There are so many beautiful scenes and writings like this. When Ji Hyun took Jae Won's hand whilst waiting to discuss about the surfing club. Beautiful. He so got how his man was feeling and most importantly wasn't going to let him go. Buying the camera, drawing the picture and stating he'd support him in his dreams. Delightful. Just lovely. Easing him into his next chapter to forget the past.
I'm not going to go into the bitch ex or Tae Hyung, as I think the roles they played were obvious and I think they both did well. We can all agree we abhorred their narcissism and how easily forgiveness came literally to their feet from both Jae Won and Ji Hyun. However, that's life. At least the writer showed them to have some semblance of remorse and to seek forgiveness. However, not reality in my mind, as if we're honest, they'd both be blocked and deleted from our lives for at least a period of time. But, hey ho, that's Asian dramas.
Shout out to the restaurant owner. Loved her. I'd be heading to her place after hours most nights to get twatted, eat great food, share wise words and put the world to rights. What a woman, what a mentor, what a person to have your back and nurture you at that age. Such a sublime character and written and delivered so well.
Ae Ri grew on me because of her mature insights into how Jae Won could possibly be feeling in EP 9 and her maturity in how to deal with him. Previously, I just found her too much in Ji Hyun's face.
As to my boys, I loved, loved, loved them. Their chemistry, interactions, dialogue and delivery as actors, all so believable - beautiful kisses too. Not a fish in sight! Hurrah! WTAF and from South Korea!?
However, South Korea, you really need to have a serious, serious word with yourself about whiting out your actors faces. It looks terrible. It doesn't make sense when they have such beautiful skin colour already. That stunning scene where Ji Hyun is giving Jae Won the camera against the blurred out background was utterly ruined because the cinematography drew attention to how very white their faces were against their dark necks. Enough already. We so don't need this as an audience. They're beautiful enough. #JustSayin'.

It really was a travesty of a drama. I still can't get my head around how the writer and director actually thought this would make for entertaining viewing, let alone for a BL or indeed a heterosexual audience. Boom's acting was the only saving grace.

They always end of with the most dreadful, implausible scripts - just terrible, terrible, cringeworthy, unintelligent writing. I've seen better writing on Wattpad from high-schoolers. Yes, me and you both hoping future episodes are better and hopefully not with the same writer.
I'm glad this is over. Utter rubbish script and storytelling. This was 95%, terrible, terrible gangster story with 5% romance, let alone a BL. It's a 2/10 from me and no, I'd never put myself back through this to re-watch it - I'm already annoyed that I saw it through to the end.

He definitely cheated. The palace hushed it up, asking the media instead to continue to go after Megan. Her father was utterly vile.
