Yes and no. With Wei Shao he did break the bro code but he did not opose the Weis millitary or politically as far as I remember. But mind you his background is somewhat different in the novel. The drama Wei Yan is quite creepy and sneaky in comparison as well. I was quite fond of the novel WY. Apart from "that incident" he did not do anything evil or wrong. And if his concubine was not jel and told Wei Shao on him main leads might even never know the extend of his obsession with Manman.
