That is why I love both reading the novel and watching the drama. Not to compare but to get a better understanding of the characters. If not for the novel I might have certain ideas about FL character. Being a bit ambitious and not that pure hearted. But from the novel I know that she pushes her cousin really hard to elope as from her dreams (it is a rebirth story) she knows that Wei Shao would be the end of them all. Her cousin to marry and die the first a very miserable death. Hence her determination to send her as far away as possible from Wei family.

You mean Shao's maternal cousin? The girl who is in love with him and scheams to be his concubine? Yes, she is in the novel. But she is a minor character. SFL I wrote about is another one. She is his ex fiancée, a couple of years older than him. Once his family went down she married some-one else and was widowed shortly. She sees ML as a great option and tries to wiggle her way back in. Major Spoiler🧨
His Grandma (Wei Shao adores her) dislikes SFL big time and favours FL greatly.
She is very wise, broad-minded and just.
So SFL decides to kill her off as she knows if Grandma around her marriage to Wei Shao would never happen. So her scape goat becomes his mother! SFL has a very intricate plan to pretty much get rid of all of them in one go. She nearly succeeds with Grandma poisoning and mother taking the blame. ML's mother is a piece of work as well. Easily manipulated and plain stupid. But our FL manages to save Grandma.

She is a Qiao girl and does everything in her power to keep her family safe. Her uncle is a waste of space but her father, brother, auntie and cousin are all good people. That does not sit well with Wei Shao.
Another issue for the couple is her "peerless beauty". Any male with a pulse is chasing after her. Wei Shao is a jellous murderous husband out for blood. She is his first woman and he is madly in love and really bad at communicating and expressing himself.
To top it all we have a simpleton of a mum who hates FL, a scheaming maternal cousin in love with ML and a seductive, evil and slutty ex fiancée.
If I remember correctly they break up only once. When she runs off and he gallops all day through the rain to give her a heart attack with his sudden appearance in the inn in the middle of the night.

Nope, not that. In the novel noone can come close to breaking them up. FL was worried a few times that he might bite her head off but we all knew he was done for the minute he saw her😆 I can spoil for you SFL's plan but not sure how close the drama would follow the novel. It might be a major spoiler🙊

Five episodes in and still pinching myself. Thought the day would never come that we meet Wei Shao🤩

She is brilliant. I loved her character. She gets him very early on. And he is pretty scarry. She is smart, loyal and brave. But not branlessly charging ahead or relying on her beauty. She considers herself very good looking but not exactly a peerless beauty. So she does not fully understand the effect she has on men. She has this insane tacit understanding from the get go on how to act with Wei Shao. She is half his size but scolds, slaps and physically fights him if feeling wronged. But if the occasion calls for it for the family or friends she goes down on her knees, beggs and humbles herself using tears or all her charms and what not. She just knows and does what needs to be done. I am in awe:)

She is truelly yuck. Highly intelligent and that is a problem for our couple. She nearly succedes but FL outplays her. In the end Wei Shao actually scares his wifey with the SFL's punishment😱

Do you mean main leads? Wei Shao falls first and hard. Mind you it is a very adult novel😄

In the novelWei Yan has a secret crash on FL. So while ML and WY are at each other throats because of her, ManMan is adorably clueless and later on angry at Wei Shao for being angry🤣So I would not call it a love triangle as it is very one-sided.

In the novel I would not call it a love triangle. Since the day they marry no one gets between them. When SFL appears Wei Shao is so head over heels with our girl that if anything he is worried that his relationship (all in the past) would be misunderstood by FL.

SFL is a nasty piece if work, selfish, cunning and slutty. She is not exactly clingy. She does not love ML but considers him a good match and goes for it. Wei Yan is a compex character with an interesting background.He is truely in love with FL and cares for ML but envies him.

You are right, have not seen Zhou Ye for ages. I am So looking forward to this one. Read the novel. FL is charming, brave and a ray of sunshine. ML is fierce, loyal and as green forest as it gets😄

I think he is muddled up from the very beginning about how he feels about her. I dont think he is arrogant but prideful. Once his pride is hurt he acts out without a second thought. If he thought it through he might have realised he is is p***ed off not at her but at her family.

The rumor has it "Legend of Female General" coming in May.

1. He should have listened to his mother and said she is his cousin.
2. He should have told her they are not biological siblings way earlier than he did.

Just to clarify he does not say they are cousins not because it would ruin her reputation. It won't. His mother would act as her chaperon at all times. He simply considers himself some peerless Immortal she would love forever, grab and never let go the minute she opens her eyes😆

In the novel his reason for saying he is her biological brother and not cousin/relative/adopted as his mother suggested was so "she does not get any ideas about him". He is too full of himself for my liking🙄 Of course he would regret it bitterly in the end😆
