I liked his character as well. He was not evil or scheming. He truely fell hard for her and tried to fight his feelings in the beginning. But even with a backyard full of women he failed. She was anything but respectful to him, calling him uncle and keeping distance. It was so complicated as he loved Wei Shao and they were so close. Their fight was epic. I felt quite sad as it was really tragic for all of them at that moment. Maybe it is better if they make him creepier and more villainous in drama. We will not feel so sad for him🤗

In the novel all her actions make perfect sense. She takes her cousin's place because a few months before the wedding she starts having vivid dreams about their previous life. It is a rebirth novel. In those dreams one way or another the Qiao family dies. Her cousin dies first a lonely horrible death being married to Wei Shao. Her uncle is a treacherous waste of space. Her father is kind but weak. So in this life Manman takes it upon her 15 yearold self to do everything in her power to insure her family's survival. In the beginning she knows Wei Shao as a cruel, ruthless man with deep hatered for Qiaos. But in drama we dont have her previous life memories so I agree with you. Her actions do not make much sense at the moment.

I think his mother annoyed me the most in the novel. She hates FL before she even sets her eyes on her. She is incredibly stupid🤦🏼♀️ She is constantly moaning and crying, tries to put her niece into ML's bed- fails, tries to frame FL multiple times- fails, schemes to kill FL-fails yet again. Absolutely clueless what her son needs or wants. Superstitious, cowardly, brainless, envious, easily manipulated and narrow-minded. Major hindrance to our leads and Grandma. You are spot on. His part does not exist in the novel. What I mean is he dies way before the events in episode 1. FL and her father think exactly like you do. He was a coward and they have to deal with the aftermath. They tried to make it look pretty in drama. In the novel he is not a wise old man but a short-sighted mediocre character who chickened out and his children and grandchildren have to deal with it and try to survive somehow.

Oh I get so annoyed. I just hate when they create ridiculous triangles in drama when there was none in the novel. Or when they change a HE into an open or sad one. This really p***ses me off big time🤯😬😡

Haha it is even worse for FL. Pretty much every male wants her as she is gorgeous and adorable. I dont think they will have all of them in drama. She is not interested in anyone. So no triangles in the novel. Even Wei Shao worms his way a couple of kids later and towards the end of the book😆 I reckon his cousin and her ex fiancé would be chasing after her in drama.
