Yes and no. With Wei Shao he did break the bro code but he did not opose the Weis millitary or politically as far as I remember.
But mind you his background is somewhat different in the novel. The drama Wei Yan is quite creepy and sneaky in comparison as well.
I was quite fond of the novel WY. Apart from "that incident" he did not do anything evil or wrong. And if his concubine was not jel and told Wei Shao on him main leads might even never know the extend of his obsession with Manman.

In the novel trying to poison grandma and frame his mother for that.

He's got green eyes in the novel. I might be mistaken but there was no particular reason. He is a slave so might be something to do with his tribe/people.

Oh I felt so bad for XQ. She is a sweet innocent bunny. Wei Shao's amourous nature and shenanigans were more than enough for her. And on top of all her troubles comes WY🤦🏼‍♀️

I liked his character as well. He was not evil or scheming. He truely fell hard for her and tried to fight his feelings in the beginning. But even with a backyard full of women he failed. She was anything but respectful to him, calling him uncle and keeping distance. It was so complicated as he loved Wei Shao and they were so close. Their fight was epic. I felt quite sad as it was really tragic for all of them at that moment. Maybe it is better if they make him creepier and more villainous in drama. We will not feel so sad for him🤗

Well novel or drama I have a soft spot for Manman and cannot be harsh on her:)

In the novel all her actions make perfect sense. She takes her cousin's place because a few months before the wedding she starts having vivid dreams about their previous life. It is a rebirth novel. In those dreams one way or another the Qiao family dies. Her cousin dies first a lonely horrible death being married to Wei Shao. Her uncle is a treacherous waste of space. Her father is kind but weak. So in this life Manman takes it upon her 15 yearold self to do everything in her power to insure her family's survival. In the beginning she knows Wei Shao as a cruel, ruthless man with deep hatered for Qiaos.
But in drama we dont have her previous life memories so I agree with you. Her actions do not make much sense at the moment.
