Personally I don't think you need to watch Eternal Love before this as they are only a side couple there and the whole story of them is told here. It's a stand-alone story and not a continuation of Eternal Love.

I can't complain about his script choices, before Guardian he did not have much of a choice and he said he has more scripts to chose from by now and I like his projects. Reunion was a good drama for example. To Dear Myself does not include any blood-spitting as far as I know. The drama was even advertised in China with "no blood". xD Not sure about My True Friend but I haven't seen any screenshot with him having blood anywhere so I consider it a good sign. I totally understand what you mean though. :) His photobook is indeed very beautiful. No wonder the first press edition was sold out so quickly. I received mine a couple weeks ago and love it. ^^

Seeing the upcoming Guardian movie it feels strange to know a different actor will play Shen Wei. Zhu Yilong didn't have much roles to choose from, once he gained popularity it got better. He chooses his roles by the production crew first, then the script and character development. A rom-com or modern romance drama with a happy end would be appreciated by me though. xD Right now I'm looking forward to his role of Lin Nan Sheng in The Rebel. It looks quite interesting. ^^
