I don't remember Dilraba getting prejudice and hatred for that aspect but some people did have prejudice concerning her beauty, thinking she was just a pretty face and nothing more. So it took some time to convince people that she could act. Some people still claim she's only a pretty face and a bad actress, but that's a different topic as it involves preference, bias etc.

Typecasting is really a problem and unfortunately not only in China but worldwide. I still remember how hard it was for Daniel Radcliffe for example to get rid of his image as Harry Potter. He was reduced to one single role and people said he couldn't play anything else than that role.

I don't care much if that's what others think. I loved her chemistry with Wu Lei and I think she also did well with Gong Jun. But to each their own. It's sad though that people tend to rank drama couples, for me they are all favorites if I enjoyed the drama and the couples chemistry.

For a couple dramas the genres seem off, for example My Journey To You was not really a Fantasy drama in my opinion (at least not compared to other dramas of that genre) and the romance in 1 Litre No Namida was more of a side story but I don't complain since both dramas are absolutely worth watching.
@Xiao Zi If you're interested in good friendship dramas I recommend Age of Youth, 49 Days with a Merman, Be Yourself, Oh No! Here Comes Trouble, Mental Tsuyome Bijo Shirakawa-san and My First First Love. Those had memorable friendship in them. 😊💛

I loved You Are My Glory for the romance and chemistry. I do agree though that the gaming that is quite present for 50% of the drama and the main leads occupation can be boring to some. I guess our tastes differ here but it's nice to see how we enjoy the opposites. Hope you like The Blue Whisper. ❤️

I'd like to see her in roles that she really wants despite what people might think is suitable for her. If she never gets these role offers how could she possibly prove, she is able to play them? In my opinion this goes for every actor or actress that is typecasted. Only by giving them chances to shine, can they show what they're truly capable of.

I agree. She is instrumentalized but China is known for that. They used a lot of celebrities for PR in the past and present. Unfortunately there's not much they can do, if they don't play along their career would be over. I picked this video because it gives a glimpse into the rich culture of Dilraba's descent.
