Not everyone sticks to the novel, and the view count of this drama is pretty good compare to other Tencent costume…
I don't read novels either. But being promoted as wuxia I was expecting more adventures solving jianghu problem etc instead of ur typical palace cliche story .
See like if they did it something different like in Novoland Pearl Eclipse where it was palace drama but there wasn't really stupid a emperor or queen or concubine trying to poison someone etc or fight for throne. The story focused on the love struggle between the mainleads n second leads.
Or like joy of life where it's palace drama but was also wuxia and the palace people were actually interesting instead of following same palace drama formula
Like this series was suppose be wuxia focused more on jianghu the palace drama should've been like minor ones leading up to war or something instead of like 90 percent of the episodes .
I still enjoying it but really wished like others that it was just pure wuxia drama since we are lacking good one now a days.

Rewatching this series on Netflix rn. Up to ep 33 . I'm still confused on how that traitor from lan clan was able to overwhelm weiyings flute in night less city and control the puppets? Wei ying has the flute n stygan tiger amulet so it didn't really make sense.

That's y I keep saying these asian dramas should follow Hollywood and make like multiple seasons or contract the actors etc but have them be able to play other roles movies etc as well n just keep making series as long as there's materials to go off of n release new season every season like American shows. I don't mind fillers as long as there well done

Mirror had good casting but everything went down hill during middle. They keep repeating same lines or stuff us viewers know already.
Main leads keeps getting hurt back n forth n foreshadow his future. Some of villains did things just cause really no good motive.
Hope this one has better pacing stay consistent with story instead of jumping around to different side characters.
I think that's one of problems with mirror twin cities was they kept focusing too much time on secondary couple n little love triangle. N just rush things probably bc it was during pandemic when it was in production . Also CGI was very bad for today's standards. .
Since pandemic been dying down I feel like alot of dramas r getting back up or production team have more time to edit etc reshoot
