And that makes you a good friend, and probably means the depth of feelings you had for that woman was already fairly superficial and easy to let go of. Not everyone can just forget their feelings for someone else, even if their good friend is also interested. Doesn't make them bad people - unless they actively sabotage mutual/consensual relationships . . . which is a fairly common trope in drama land (not just Asian dramas, it happens a lot in Western dramas too)

I am a big proponent of the concept that you as an individual are not beholden to other's thoughts and feelings toward you. If a man I'm not attracted to has feelings for me, I am by no means obligated to reciprocate or limit my options in other romantic partners. And that's one of my biggest pet peeves in dramas --> characters that believe that just because THEY have feelings for the ML/FL means that person belongs to only them, and that they are obligated to also feel the same. So I appreciate that in this case (as of ep 6 at least), the friend is not actively trying to break them up, or has the attitude that because she likes the bf, she's entitled to him. If she were, my opinion of this scenario would be very different.

The ex-boss lady though - I can tell she'll give me much grief already. You can basically see the toxic fumes wafting off her any time she's in a scene ^^'

People can’t really control how they feel for other people. Crushing on a friends significant other and acting on those feelings are two very different scenarios. I feel bad for the friend because you can tell she feels bad for liking someone in a relationship. If it were so easy to just “turn off” certain unwanted or seemingly inappropriate feelings, life would be a whole lot easier than it is. The whole concept of “bros before h*es” and “chicks before d*cks” is easy in theory but hard in practice 😅

Yeah, I decided deliberately not to read the novel before this came out.

And even when I do read books before watching TV/movie adaptations, I always try to separate the two in my mind as completely different works. If you expect adaptations from books to be 100% accurate, you'll always be incredibly disappointed

I definitely like their subs compared to most other streaming sites, though I've noticed with a lot of airing dramas there are more typos - especially spacing issues - that i assume are fixed eventually since it's not a problem in fully aired shows

I went through a time where I watched stuff on pirated sites . . . but just can't do it anymore. Mostly because I'm broke AF and if my computer gets a virus I'm up s*it creek T__T

ABAY is listed as a "Viki Exclusive" on their page, so I think that may be why it's not available on WeTV and iQiyi, at least in the US

I am really enjoying this so far, especially after watching episodes 3 and 4. The story and characters are really drawing me in - I just wish Viki was caught up!

Haters be working overtime over here per usual. It’s whatever though - we all know MDL ratings are utter 🔥💩 most of the time so I’m just going to enjoy the show and rate it for myself 🤷🏼‍♀️

lol I can’t imagine being a human health professional and trying to watch any type of medical drama (Asian or Western let’s be real). As a vet, I cringe like 99% of the time anything animal health related is featured in a show because it’s usually really really wrong 🤣

Viki usually only does 2 episodes per day because the subs are done by fans in their free time, so 2 per day is kinda the max that can be expected of volunteers

Maybe it'll be available on WeTV or iQiyi soon, but Viki lets us watch for right now at least

haha yeah, I also have iQiyi and have been checking back and forth between it and WeTV. I was hoping to watch the first episode before work this morning but that's looking less likely now

According to Viki, the first two episodes are being released "today" so soon hopefully. I kept my WeTV subscription active in anticipation for ABAY and if it's not available in the US I'll be cancelling it -__-

It was like that for Best Choice Ever too. I don’t think upcoming shows become available in any way until they air. There were worries that WeTV wouldn’t have BCE because you could t find it anywhere beforehand but it was uploaded at premiere time (in the US at least)

He could be a medical doctor involved in research and development. I haven’t read the novel but the tech involved in this story is medical-based right?

They need medical professionals to run clinical trials/manage patients. That would be a pretty low-key 9-5 type job (in the US at least)

Unless they really really rush post production I don’t think we’ll see it this year (and I’d rather they not rush it that much), but with the success of The Double they may speed up and try to get it ready for release earlier in 2025

I told myself I wasn't going to respond to anyone who commented on my original post (i'm tired of this page honestly), but I've noticed you're willing to have actual discussions/debates when your opinion differs from others rather than immediately join in on the 'burn hater burn' mob mentality, so here goes lol

I'm not so sure it's entirely OPs faults in poor phrasing - I've seen one commenter get attacked on another page for just saying she didn't like his outfit and makeup in a trailer for a variety show. Literally just opining on fashion preference and she was attacked and demeaned as a hater by several of the same people initiating attacks on this page. This is the type of obsessive, toxic fan behavior i've seen in many other fandoms - music/kpop, anime, comic books, etc. It was annoying in those other fandoms, and I still find it annoying now. Fans can dislike a style, fashion, project, acting/music performance of their idol, and they can vocalize that opinion - that doesn't make them a 'hater' just someone who has independent preferences that don't align 100% with their idol. In the end, they still support their idol and that's what a true fan is.

I think there is also some language barrier (and I'm assuming also age/maturity level) playing a part in misunderstanding the meaning/intent behind certain comments. As a native English speaker and someone who is . . . ahem older, I didn't find most of the recent reported 'hater' comments to be in any way hateful at/about/to XK. Overly aggressive and perhaps poorly phrased because OPs are being ruthlessly bullied over their opinions, sure. Criticizing his bosses/team and c-ent as a whole for requiring unrealistic body types and beauty standards - definitely. Hating on XK as an actor or human being, nah.

Woooow, I come back after a couple days away and now we have fans attacking other fans for having opinions and concerns about XK's mental/emotional/physical health? Although aggressive words have been exchanged on both sides, I think everyone needs to calm down, take a step back, and some of ya'll need to reevaluate your perspective on the difference between honest fans and haters. Because a lot of the people being attacked here and on other pages are not haters - I've seen a number of them around on other pages and their previous comments and watchlists/ratings speak louder than words.

Cyber-bullying is never okay, and that's what a lot of ya'll here are doing. If you can't address someone with a differing opinion without resorting to name-calling, cursing, or threats - maybe just don't respond. Walk away. Block that user. Maybe write a positive comment about XK. By attacking other fans, you're just perpetuating and worsening the negativity about XK you claim to be fighting against. This is the type of rabid, toxic, and honestly delulu fan behavior that gives entire fandoms - and by proxy their idols - bad reputations. And I thought k-pop fandom was bad - yikes.

If I were a brand new fan or someone just curious about XK, found this page, and saw the truly hateful comments some of ya'll are slinging at each other, I'd walk away. XK honestly deserves better.
