So this is what he probably is going to film in a month and half. https://x.com/xukaidrama/status/1784976037400727699?s=46&t=VeIo60n7oCok5RTR6pygTgHis…
I'm not really buying the drama poster, mostly because Hema Entertainment does not seem to exist, which is supposedly the company producing this drama. I'm wondering if it's a fan edit of somekind? Hopefully we'll get an official announcement soon about his next project!
I wouldn't trust anything until the official drama's team or XK's team announces/confirms anything, which as far as I know has not happened yet.
XK has only said that he will need to cut his hair for this next role, implying a modern drama, but he never explicitly stated he would be a firefighter. I hope this rumor is true though!
XK and TSY both are first billing here. So they will get almost equal screentime.BCE is a family drama. He was…
I agree - there's something special about Xu Kai that I can't quite place my finger on. I've been watching c-dramas and k-dramas for years at this point - I've seen plenty of pretty/handsome faces and bad to excellent acting . . . but Xu Kai is literally the first c-actor that I can say I have become a true fan of. The only other c-entertainer that comes close honestly is Zhao Lusi. I like other c-actors/actresses, and if I see a new drama of theirs I may check it out - but no other c-drama actor or actress has made me literally mad binge almost all their dramas back to back, or closely follow their upcoming projects like Xu Kai. Hell, I didn't even think he was that handsome based on still-images and avoided watching any of his dramas for a long time . . . until I saw him in action in the trailer for WoL, thought "Wow who's this guy?" and now I'm here lol
Is he the most phenomenal actor that's ever graced this Earth? No, he's not, and I'm sure he would be the first person to admit that (the man is quite humble, or comes across that way at least). But he has demonstrated growth through his dramas (I would know, I've literally watched most of them within the past 6 months) and I think he's serious about acting. To him it's not about the role that will make him a super star - it's about roles he gels with, that he finds interesting and possibly challenging. Unlike several other diva actors that I shall not name (according to the rumor mill), Xu Kai seems to be willing to take 2nd billing/less screentime/less likely to be blockbuster roles purely because he likes the script or character. He seems to be more interested in honing his craft as an actor than pure fame and popularity. As much as I want him to be super popular and have others recognize him, I also support his decisions. If that makes me toxic, then so be it *shrug*
EDIT: @Draco - Rereading my comment I realize I shifted from addressing your comments (which I agree with) to replying more to the other person, so I'm not arguing with you at all ^^'
Okay so I'm 16 episodes in and I need a little boost from people who have finished the show. The FL's crying/sniffling…
Well, not going to lie, I do the same sniffing thing and sound almost identical when I'm trying my very best NOT to outright sob, usually when other people are around. So I thought she played it very convincingly *shrug*

Yeah I count ourselves lucky that the screenwriters decided to expand his character's importance as much as they did. What screentime XK did have though, he absolutely killed it, so I'm perfectly happy :)
actually, most of the FL in Xukai's dramas where he was ML was strong and dominant. Such examples include The…
As someone who has very recently watched both SAHPH and CL, I agree that XK had about the same amount of screen time in BCE as SAHPH and definitely more than in CL.
Maybe XK just likes scripts that feature strong, independent women and is comfortable enough in his masculinity to be perfectly fine playing second fiddle to talented women? Particularly senior actresses from whom I'm sure he learns a lot.
From my observations, it also seems pretty common for actors/actresses of different ages to pair up. I don't really see comments like this on other actor's pages, many of whom ALSO work with older actresses, just as there are PLENTY of younger actresses paired up with older actors (take Moonlit Reunion, XK's next costume drama - the FL is about 2-3 years younger than him). It's not just a XK thing, but people only seem to comment about it regarding XK
Do you really need to wear a stupid sunflower hat to apologize? I'm losing hope in the adequacy of Chinese womens…
She wasn’t apologizing for anything though? She was just trying to cheer up YZM after the drama with his dad by acting goofy . . . I thought it was a cute moment between the two of them 🤓
Why ratings are not going up for Best Choice Ever on MDL?
A lot of viewers here didn’t know/ignored what they were about to watch. They were expecting/wanted primary romance but BCE is very much a family drama with a side of romance. So a lot of people are downrating for that as well as hating on the FLs mom in particular. Very much an inability/refusal to consider different perspectives than their own from what I’ve seen in the comments section - which learning to understand different perspectives and working to overcome those differences is basically the overlying theme of the entire drama, so I find it kinda ironic that so many people failed to understand that lesson 🙃
Just finished the last episode and I really thought the last few episodes were wonderfully done. They had me tearing up multiple times, especially the scene where MCH and her mom cuddle in bed together. If I didn't live 1000 miles away from my mother, I would be seeking out a hug from her right now. This show definitely makes me appreciate the fact I still have family in my life, even if they live far away.
Similar to others below, I do kinda wish we'd gotten a proposal between YZM and MCH - but the lack of it doesn't make me think less of the ending at all. I actually agree that the way it ends with them in a committed, mutually respectful, and mature relationship is very much in line with their characters, especially MCH. As someone who also doesn't really want to get 'officially' married, I get where she's coming from haha - marriage is a dressing for the profound bond they have - pretty but not necessarily needed
I'll definitely be rewatching this - probably sooner rather than later if I'm being honest!
I would say not being 100% objective. Or some of them really have very high threshold for such stories.
For you maybe - people's perceptions and opinions about dramas are subjective. So to some people, this is a 10. Not a 10 for you? That's also valid - you have a right to an opinion, but so does everyone else.
The only people whose opinions of a show don't matter are the ones who rate 1-2 and don't bother to watch it (aka haters/trolls - and yes they exist)
What would Chinese and Korean modern dramas do without car accidents? Its like every other drama has someone killed…
lol someone was commenting about how all the dramas give people cancer and how boring it is (I have seen literally 2 Asian dramas that involve cancer) - and I thought to myself "well at least she doesn't get hit by a car"
. . . and then 33 happened, and I had to laugh-cry about it. Seriously though, poor YZM. Like I'm pretty sure he wins the award for most life-changing tribulations to become a better person :')
My question is how and when will I get my next XuKai BLACK. SUIT. FIX. LOL 😂. Seriously I will be having withdrawals…
The rumor mill is saying June for ABAY. I assume they're avoiding May since Joy of Life S2 is rumored to air then, and apparently it's the most anticipated drama to have ever drama'd lol
Main leads individually?ML seems pure virgin. He doesn't have romantic relationship experience.FL definitely yes.…
YZM has had previous girlfriends - it’s been mentioned once or twice before). MCH may be his first love, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have other “relations” prior to returning to China 😅
why does Zhiming always get mustache when someone dies 😭it's not like days passed???
There’s a reason we call it a 5 o’clock shadow in the US (maybe elsewhere too?) A lot of men’s facial hair grows really fast so they’ll start showing even a half day after shaving
Maybe he did but it was off screen? Or perhaps he's waiting for the Zhang situation to resolve since she's not…
I’ve been saying this from the beginning, but this isn’t really a plot-heavy show. It’s a character and relationship driven show. The plot is kinda just there to move the story along but it in itself is not the most important aspect of the show.
