His character is supposed to be very cold and basically emotionless in the beginning. A quintessential ice prince - so the character himself is likely supposed to come off as being 'stiff.'

This is a family drama, not a workplace drama, that focuses on the relationship between MCH and her mother. That is the primary focus in the novel this is based on as well. So in reality, the hotel stuff is a subplot and more filler than anything involving MCH and her mom. The hotel serves as a catalyst to help MCH prove herself and gain independence from her mother, and not much more in terms of importance to the plot.
There are plenty of hotel themed work place dramas though. Maybe you’ll have more luck with one of those!
