It feels good to be paid for your hardwork. I do translation for love and knowledge though, pro bono.

I also found the best way to learn a new language for me is through translation. Because a language for which one stops using on an extended lenght of time, one would lose it one day. It happened to me just because I stayed oversea a tad too long, my brain had stop thinking in the very language I grew up with. I was suspicious at first but experience told me otherwise.

Learning a language is not a course but more like a marathon for me. I try for the long run. So I don't put too much pressure on myself to quickly grasp it. To each their own speed.

But listening to music, watching dramas and movies with the original caption on, helps a lot with the learning process.

Or go to that country to immerse yourself is also helpful. But I admit it's also for other hidden purpose LOL I love traveling for that reason. I so wish some borders were open to outsiders ...

Do you mind sharing from which language to which you're translating to? I have a particular interest for linguistic, ranging from phonetic to pragmatic. I found language to be more than a mere tool for communication but a beautiful way to share knowledge and enlightment about each other party's heritage. ٩(｡•́‿•̀｡)۶

While he didn't use the word "stop", he did use the english equivalent as "enough". Within that context, the word translated is accurate.

I also do translation and I care about semantic.

NOTE: the Chinese to English subtitles on WeTV on the airing day of episode 2 were off. I can confirm as well. But it have been edited last time that I've checked. But Japanese to English subtitles. (with Ultraman dad scene!) remained uncomplete until yesterday)

oh Suzy, you put the finger right on the source of my uneasiness toward this adaptation. The soul of the novel! Because I love the novel so much, I know that I have a strong bias and expectation. I just can't help it. If it was just any other novel for me, I would feel less emotional attachment toward it.

I don't mind adaptation. Some of them are actually better than the source material, if that is even possible. I just don't want a fanfiction. And boy, I flip badly when they do that. Knowing myself, I won't be able to digest well.

Now, let's wait patiently how it goes, with an open-mind, even if it's a struggle. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

On my first and second run, my mind was blank of faces for the leads characters. But I most definitely had Leo face as shizun on my third reread. and then I heard news of Arthur being casted as Moran. My ship sailed ever since.

"White lotus" means someone who appears all gentle, all innocent and the like almost perfect like a saint. [Mary Sue style ] They are really good-looking. People would like them at a glance. lots of benefits ... a bit like " a protagonist halo"

But the difference with the protagonist halo is that they are actually hidding their game. So their inside is black rotten while their outside is pure white. The protagonist halo goes with characters who would get extraordinary luck just because ...

I encounter white lotus while reading webnovels. But I enjoy welldone faceslapping. So I keep on reading just to see them receiving their just karma.
