Gaga gave a trigger warning before the episode aired. The show never romanticised it and if you watch the scene it is quite sinister and not something sexy like you said. Also it was pretty clear from the start that this show has extreme manipulation, SA, coercion, forced co-habitation, and violence to name a few. Another thing is they never laughed at the victim or made a joke of it. The scene right after Shulang wakes up his whole world is shaking and he feels violated. If they were romanticising they would make a joke out of it.. not try to find the culprit who did it in order to punish him.
Yes coz he never had any experience before with men or women. Everyone assumes the default is straight.. some people don’t know fhey like men well into their 30s. From layman perspective yes we can call him straight but if you dig deep by reading the novel, falling for a manly man like Shulang is not what a straight man do..
The scene with Lu zhen is way worse lmao. In the novel he doesn’t find him attractive coz he is not manly like Shulang and he doesn’t act like a man when drugged.

The storyline highlights the reality of people in power and how they get away with such things easily. It’s a recurring theme in the show where the young masters (chaebols) are using their power to do whatever they want without having any regard for anyone.
Well Fan Xiao considers You Shulang his Bodhisatva, his GOD. So the music is apt for the scene. I liked it. It was unnerving and gave the scene more sinister vibe.
