I was thinking the same thing. This new show is from republic era.. his makeup looks kinda ashy lol. I was thinking Yiran already did period costume drama, this one is republic horror and I have also seen one short drama where he is a Peking opera artist.. like the man has done a variety of roles already..

I mean the timeline is easy to understand if we pay attention to what they are saying in key moments..

Yeah they matched the voice actors as close as possible..the actors are credited in all music platforms for the songs.

The title songs (both starting and ending credits) are sung by the actors.

Because the actors come from different regions of China with different accents.. so they end up dubbing using voice actors who use the standardised accent for Chinese dramas

The bathtub scene gave me goosebumps.. oh Yunqi the way you acted… absolutely nailed it.. so freaking good.

The book does convey Shulang’s conflicting emotions well but Yiran is bringing it to life and giving it extra dimensions. I don’t think being in touch with your emotions means being weak.

Stockholm Syndrome is not a psychology term. It has never been included in the DSM. This is also by no means a case of the fictional Stockholm Syndrome. If someone really wants to call it that then they should use the correct term which is trauma bonding. In this case they didn’t bond during the abuse like you said.. so this is definitely not a case of trauma bonding.

Nothing in my comment in the below thread with Kate is from EP 14. In the show they told us the case is massive and even dragged politicians into it.. biggest case in Thailand in a long time and the culprits are going to jail. So since whole fan family is implied doesn’t it mean that they are no longer as powerful as they used to be, If such things has to be spoon fed to viewer word by word then the show will become like a documentary. Anyways.. I will end it here as well.

I don’t expect people to try to delve into the characters too deeply but some of the people (not you) are completely missing important nuance that is already shown in the show.

Tell me do you think Shulang’s life was perfect and he was happy before FX appeared in his life? He was just living for the sake of others.

So when people say somehow he is too broken now to make a sound judgment would you say that’s accurate character analysis?

Same goes for Fan Xiao, turning him into a one dimensional manipulative criminal when he has so many layers to his characterisation which is actually perfectly portrayed in the show.
