Always saying art reflect real world doesn’t mean stories like these doesn’t need to be told and more importantly have happy ending. Yes he is coerced to stay in a very bad situation and yes Fan Xiao is a bad person but in what world is it necessary for a bad person to always end up miserable and lonely for the rest of their lives? You speak or nuance and yet you don’t try to understand Fan Xiao’s character one bit. He said it in EP 12. He doesn’t know what else to do but this. That’s not a character trait he is born with but a character flaw due to his upbringing. That’s the nuance and why even a villain like him could have a redemption arc. You might not agree or still feel that he is the devil incarnate. If thats the case make up your own ending. The author doesn’t give AF. Just stop being disrespectful to the author without even knowing what she is going to do with these character just because your are dead set on a bad ending.
Intense FX lovers and intense FX haters both amuse me so much.. While reading the book I initially hated FX so much but after Shulang starts living with FX, my perspective shifted. I started to understand FX better. His actions are not justifiable by any means but like he said in the beginning of this episode that it’s all he knows how to do. That’s what he has seen growing up. You cannot detach a person’s entire life and define his character based on what is happening during the course of this show. The backstory is there for a reason. Some people are born evil while others grow up in a toxic environment which leads to a twisted sense of reality in their mind. Just calling someone like FX pure evil and beyond redemption is looking at the character with very shallow lens. Not even trying to understand the villain’s POV. Yes you are not obligated to look into his POV but since the story demands it I hope you do.
To intense FX lovers, calm the F down. FX is a villain through and through and even he knows that. Everything he has done till now is for selfish reasons and he acknowledges it. Step into Shulang’s shoes for once and see. How do you not see how much hurt FX has caused him? Till now I have not seen any redemption happening… but there are nuggets in EP 12 which suggest it is on the way..
I am not someone who is rigid. If the author wanted this to end badly I would have been okay with it. In the same way if the author wants them to end together I am okay with it too.. Please enjoy the show as a work of fiction and also try to understand both the characters. They are both very complex and not just cardboard cut out hero and villain…

I found it extremely disrespectful how you said the author must be cuckoo if she wants to give them a happy ending. As simple as that. You don’t need to drag the author like that.. you can have discussions and opinions without doing that.
This is a very shallow look at the character. What good will it do by simply letting Shulang go now? He is already…
I agree with this second comment a lot.. but your initial comment was very FX bad, FX still doing it to manipulate Shulang.. which felt rather black and white.. I get FX sympathisers being insufferable lol but as a fan of the Novel who love YSL and yet understand FX character, we need to find the balance..

Long term rapist.. lmao! When it’s Shulang drawing a sugar baby/daddy contract when he comes to FX. He even says in the episode that FX is nothing but a piece of meat for him.. He is dying inside coz he doesn’t want FX yet he is aroused by FX. Lust still blinds him. Seeing everything from black and white lens is so tiring.. specially with fiction where everything is heightened just for emotional payoff.

But who are you to decide what’s good for Shulang!? The fact that you feel so strongly about this is coz the author has given us very interesting and complex characters that can be interpreted in many ways.. but at the end of the day if Shulang written by the author chooses to forgive FX, it’s upto him.. why are you trying to inject yourself in Shulang’s place.. you are not Shulang and you don’t know whats going on in his mind..
Stop watching if it bothers you that much.. the author and the show has said it multiple times.. if you don’t want happy ending STOP WATCHING and torturing yourself
I think the best solution is that they never met and then none of this would have happen. I think the biggest…
To people like you the author actually said that if you want bad ending then stop reading after Ch 84 and make up your own ending. It’s wild how you people want to control how the author should end the story she conceived in the first place lol.
3 eps for 21 chapters is a good enough duration considering some of the things doesn’t need too much elaboration…
I am lost too.. may be last EP is 1.5 hrs 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 But EP 12 was a banger.. one of the fav episode of the show. If they deliver like this in the last 3 eps I will be satisfied.. keep things that are required and impactful from the redemption arc and it’s gonna be good..
Letting go like this is just letting him die.. even away from FX he won’t magically let go of his suicidal thoughts.. This is a step towards making YSL independent again.. if he did leave what work would he have done? Lifeless job in some company or grunt work that pays nothing.. he lost his home and his car.. he is jobless.. he doesn’t have any family.. letting go is basically letting him die coz those thoughts aren’t going anywhere if he doesn’t drown himself in work..
saw some posts of Fan Xiao defenders which makes him to be the hero who schemes with professor Huang to save YSL…
This is a very shallow look at the character. What good will it do by simply letting Shulang go now? He is already broken.. He doesn’t even have a job.. even if he tried he would get a very low paying job and have to start from the bottom.. FX is not selfless and he is not doing it for YSL but for himself.. coz he can’t let go of Shulang.. but whatever his reasons might be what he is doing right now is giving Shulang a fighting spirit.. a will to live which he himself took away. He is not doing some godly act but only trying to right his wrong.. Seeing things in black and white with a story and characters like this loses the meaning of the story to be honest.
The scene when YSL was talking to his mother made me cry. And can FX do anything that isn’t calculated and manipulative?!…
What he did this episode was understandable to me. Shulang doesn’t want to work with his senior coz of Fan Xiao though it’s his dream job. So the only way to get him back to working towards his dream job is this way by turning himself into a villain.
