Fan Xiao is falling into his own trap. His trauma is real. His fears are real. His tears are real. The way he was able to share his trauma with You Shulang tells me he already sub consciously wants You Shulang to take care of him like he takes care of others. He might say that he is doing this to make Shulang fall in love but deep down he wants to share his deep personal trauma with Shulang to make a connection with him that only they share.

Valid? He never tried to be close to Shulang in that way coz he is materialistic and superficial. If he really wanted to know him better or share his burden and not treat him like a sugar daddy who cooks for him and gives him a comfortable life, I think Shulang would have opened up.

After EP 4 you might change your views on Yun Qi a bit. I know he isn’t great but I think he is doing well for a first time actor. The role is very complex so it’s significantly harder to play.

Going with a fresh mindset will help you enjoy the show better . To be honest what Fan Xiao is doing and does later will still boil your blood just like it does mine. But his redemption arc is just as satisfying so I would definitely recommend to stick around if you can.
