All that ass onscreen is wonderful but I have to hold back from thinking too deeply about the politics least I fall into a dark hole. I have lived through and continue to live through the times depicted in this drama. The military interference, the corruption, rigged elections, protesters violently suppressed and killed. Press freedom? What's that? And privileged kids pretending none of it exists by wrapping themselves in an bubble and calling it "alternate culture".
That aside though, the chemistry is 10s across board. The passion is palpable. Beautiful men everywhere you look. The production is excellent. And you know that the angst is going to be next level.
I think the reason for his tactics are to have a slim chance of winning ssy's affection!since hy is an enigma,…
But ssy likes him. He has shown in it so many ways. this episode he chose hy over wen lang's offer of the lifesaving drug for his father. if that's not love i don't know what it is.
This was so much fun to watch. Maybe because I went into it blind with no expectations. It felt like the narration between levels of a video game. I've always liked those. The main character's strength is his single-mindedness, everything else he does feels like side-quests to get him where he wants. He's only loyal to his goal and I hope they don't ruin that with romance in the next season (at least not with that whiny core formation grandmaster). I liked his inner monologues and how the side character stories were revealed without overwhelming the plot. The nepo baby villain was another character I liked. He's so unseriously evil.
Was not a fan of the flashback sequences. Some of the CGI could be better but most of if was real even if not perfect and I can live with that.
But in all, very worth the time I spent binge-watching.
I hope there isn't a strong romance theme in the next season. The grandmaster is way too embarrassing. Slept together under the influence of a spell one time and she spends decades moping after him like sis, you're a core formation stage cultivator. Stand the fuck up. You barely know this man.
The female characters falling all over the ML and getting jealous have me rolling my eyes. Like, calm all the way down. That man does not rate you romantically.
It's funny how people get all riled up about the plot/characters of weekend dramas every time but then keep watching. They may be cliched and tropey and have stupid, mean and batshit crazy characters but still manage to hook you for weeks at a time. That's how the writers win tbh. And keep in mind, the primary target is Korean audience. Not international sensibilities.
I feel like the flashback is an introduction to where the curse originated from.
I don't know about that. It shows the leads' past life connection. The curse came from his mother's ancestry and not his past life. But I might be wrong.
Ep 2 was not as good as ep 1 especially with that bs abusive husband subplot. That was so badly handled I don't even know where to start. There was no need for the flashback at the point where they used it and all that staring was just annoying. Still, there were some okay bits and I'm still curious about the root of the curse and how they eventually get rid of it.
That library sequence from the notes to the nc scene was delicious. That's how you build passion up. The lust…
While they were passing notes, I was like "these two are going to fuck before this ends or else it'll be such a waste". And there it was. *chef's kiss*
