I remember responding to a comment asking what the two guys saw in Jira a while back. To have Koh respond the same made me pump my fist like yes! It's perfectly okay for beauty to be the main reason for attraction and I like that the writers didn't shy away from saying it.
So i liked the drama. 7/10, nothing really special to me, but still great HOWEVER one thing keeps bothering me…
She did get medical help. The psychiatrist and neurologist sent her to each other so there was no clear path in the beginning. Plus she most likely got the sleeping meds she spiked the ML's drink with from one of them (those were prescription only meds). And that final scene with the psychiatrist didn't sound like a first visit.
Such a good watch. The actors did their characters justice. The leads had such a warm chemistry despite the chaotic nature of their relationship. Loved the second couple as well unexpected as their story was. Only belief I couldn't suspend was not Mu-hee and Hiro not using a translation app when an interpreter was absent. It allowed the plot progress but it was kind of silly and could have been better handled.
The question of mental health was handled pretty well even though certain liberties were taken for creativity sake. It is for entertainment at the end of the day.
Kim Seon-ho should keep doing romance projects. He has that sweet butter-melting gaze, and those dimples. Perfect romance male lead. Kind of funny how ambivalent I've been about Go Youn-jong despite seeing almost everything she's been in. I think this drama has tipped me into being a fan. There is a certain freshness she brings to every role. She's similar to Choi Woo-shik in the sense of taking roles that don't require too much fluctuation.
In all, very worth the hours spent binge watching.
Small detail but the scene with Hiro and his niece when he said "kissing" and the 5yo didn't react I felt like the writers dropped the ball. Redeemed themselves a few seconds later.
Just started ep 4 and I get the feeling I'm not going to stop until the end. This is really good. I went in blind after watching the leads interview on Channel Shiboya and loved their chemistry. I have no complaints so far.
Sure he has friends who understand his choices and hang out with him all the same. It's the social drinking with casual acquaintances that is such a big part of Korean culture that he's likely not a part of. And it's not just him. Seen a number of actor interviews where they talk about how they stopped drinking and the invitations dry up. But no one sounded sad about it. They seemed perfectly happy spending their time at home.
"He was irritatingly conscientious in a way that sometimes made me want to be good, and other times made me want to trouble him until I found the limits of his virtue. "
The casting for this show was stellar. Re-watching and the characters are just *chef's kiss* To think the first time around I had to drop it cos the humour felt a little over the top but it ended up being one of my favourite dramas of 2022,
Personally I alternate with other shows... I think the biggest flaw is that even as a slow burn, there's not much…
I preferred that tbh. It was plenty slow and I dropped it in the 20s because the FL's character development was stunted but band for band it was better than this one.
And I agree with your point about the PV industry. Now I think about it, it does seem like a long advert.
Oh boy I tried. Was loving this at the start but completely lost interest by the 20s ep. Left it and came back to try again but couldn't rekindle my interest. In all fairness, it's a good drama, entertaining with great character development but I can't put my finger on why it just went flat for me.
I don't hate the kids, I think they're kind of cute. I actually kind of like Se Jin but I can't really put my…
She's a good kid rebelling against her overbearing parents. And self-aware enough to apologise for what she said in class. There's a clear line for her character development.
I'm kind of curious what the numbers are? Like do you know what % of their earnings come from non-Korean viewers?
Not quite. You have "Korean channels" in your comment and linked a 2023 story about Netflix.
That said, you're actually wrong about Korean channels/streaming platforms profiting a lot from western viewers. They are domestic focused as the bulk of their revenue still comes from Korean viewers. Western audiences are in the minority (even for a behemoth like Netflix).
I will agree with you that English subs need to be better and available because a lot of SEA viewers (the actual global leaders for kdrama viewership) have English as a primary language.
Phoon and Fah onscreen together gives me butterflies. They just have something about them. North is still my silly fave. Might go rewatch part 1 cos I miss him. Love that there is more of Dao. He's so wise. Nice to see the gang back together.

Is anyone taking the 2ML serious? That man is more in love with the ML than the FL. He's not a serious contender for anything but comic relief.
I knew the ML would be shirtless by ep 3 and I was not disappointed.
