But I did really like the fan/idol relationship plot. It was done really well imo. It finishes in episode 4. It seems the cases last 2 episodes so you actually get to know these characters.
The MDL rating is so low, this can make normal viewers who rely to ratings (yes, they exist) yeet away.
Undeservedly so. This is why I don't pay attention to ratings anymore, especially on here. I've been lured into watching one too many basic-ass dramas by doing that.
Episodes 3 and 4 done and I'm still immensely enjoying it. This show has a ton of heart, a tight script, engaging cases and really likeable main lead characters in Lin Shen and Xiao Xiao. Also love how they both have their own agency. They feel like relatable individual characters instead of just existing to be a love interest. I was also happy to see that the chemistry greatly improved, especially in episode 4. They're pretty cute.
As I wait for episodes 3 and 4 to become available I rewatched the first 2 episodes and it deserves much better than my saying it's better than I expected. That's such a backhanded compliment for a drama that is actually good on it's own merits. The script is actually really good, but the best thing about this show is that it has characters who you can actually root for. Root for their happines, root for their success, root for their improvement. I absolutely love how the cases are handled. You actually get to know these characters and see where they're coming from and how they've been affected. The show does a seamless job in transiting from case to case. They actually incorporate it into the main storyline. You get the sense that the main leads actually care about the patients and that there is no judgement whatsoever from them. When the flashbacks come they're not overly-saturated or desaturated or heavy on filters, it's seamless. The use of hypnosis is really good too.
As far as the romance part it's not heavily focused on yet. I see a bickering couple tag but to be honest I don't think they bicker that much. Yes, they bicker but they have actual conversation and ask each other questions and that's refreshing. The chemistry is not palpable but I can sense some and I have hope that as the story progresses it will improve. I've seen a lot of dramas where the only thing it had going for it was the chemistry between the mains and literally everything else was below average from script/directing, to story, to acting so I'm happy to have a drama that feels like it's going in the right direction on all fronts (of course with varying degrees but still...)
The production feels much higher quality than I would have imagined from the trailers and posters. The only downside for me so far is the dubbing that's off at times. The directing is good and the editing is excellent. I'm thoroughly impressed for someone who never had much hope going in.
This drama is actually pretty funny too. I laughed out loud a few times. Xiao Xiao pretending to be drunk saying 'I live near the sea. No, my house is in the sea!' and 'Deleting someone's Wechat is like cutting hair and ending friendships in the Dynasty period' are particular favorites lmao 🤣
Color me suprised. This is actually MUCH better than I would've expected. I still think some of the posters are pretty bad, the dubbing in the show is off at times and the acting can lean green in some scenes, BUT I think this show is anchored by interesting takes on psychological cases and an ADORABLE (yes, all caps) female lead in Xiao Xiao. She manages to be very cute while not being annoying. Also find Xiao Xiao and Lin Shen pretty funny together and adore Xiao Xiao and Yan Luo's friendship.
Hopefully it keeps up this quality because this drama is off to a very good start. I'm shocked.
I have no hope of this drama being good. Would love to be proved wrong but not holding my breath. The character posters weren't good, but the couple posters just released are plain bad. Badly edited/photoshoped. Couldn't even recognize Qiao Xin and Gong Jun's head is so big in it. WTH is going on with this production lol
Started watching this last night. Almost dropped it within the first 15 minutes because something just wasn't jiving for me BUT it started to hit it's stride after about 15 minutes. Didn't finish the 1st episode because of the lack of subs, but I'll stick with it for a few more episodes to see where this goes.
I actually had no intention of watching this but I saw the latest teaser and it piqued my interest. I've only seen one drama of Hyeri before and her acting was not good but I was pleasantly surprised by the teaser. This may be a drama of Yoo Seung Ho that I enjoy in quite some time.

There's a fine line between critiquing and bashing and unfortunately a lot of people blur that line. There are plenty of actors (encompassing both genders) that I have aversions to with their acting and I'll typically avoid their dramas, but I never actively seek out their page or account to critique them. It's not that serious for me. Acting aside, they're human and have real emotions.
The critiques on this site unfortunately are heavily skewed towards one particular gender and that bugs me.

Oh I absolutely agree about how hard females are on other females. I find this site and fandom life in general to be much harder on female and female characters than they are on males. Very sad.
