I think there are hundreds of gay dramas out there Korean, Thai , Japanese and Taiwanese why are you so worked…
If the story was a bromance to start with, great, no problem with it being a bromance. If you like bromance, you should stick to stories that are pure bromance and enjoy them to your heart's content. But this story wasn't, and censoring it in a country that doesn't require it to be censored is homophobic and disrespectful to a large group of people.
Look at it from this POV: idk where you're from but - for argument's sake - let's say you're Asian. If this story was about you, and a big part about it was about you celebrating your local holidays and paying respect to your own culture, and an American company decided to adapt into a tv series and made you a white American instead (cuz it sells better in the US), that wouldn't be fun nor very respectful, right? I don't suppose you'd be very happy about that. It's the same with this story.
The bottom line is, there is no need to be even using this story if you have to censor it. Just choose another one that is a bromance, and not a BL.
whats going on with this drama? comment section is so weird..
A LGBTQ+ webtoon was adapted into a straight kdrama cuz it would make more money for the investors, and a convicted rapist is a part of the cast. Yay....
If you think that , then its true for yourself, don’t predict people’s intentions -
You know how they say that the road to hell is paved with good intentions? It is not about their intentions, but about their actions. And their actions promote homophobia and sexual assault. There are literally SO many great webtoons that are straight, there is no need to adapt ones that aren't if you want to make them straight for money gains. This is about respect.
Oh boy, such a shame. Aren't there literally millions of non-LGBTQ+ stories to choose from? Why ya'll have to choose to adapt one that was meant to be inclusive? If the original is about gay people, it's about gay people, period. Stay true to it. What you did is plain disrespectful to a large group of people.
Also, you include Lee Kyung Young on the cast. Wow. Way to promote your values.
Thanks. Lol, sure. Feel free to msg me. No guarantees I can help tho, cuz this is a very individual thing. Also, I'm gay. This might be relevant if you're not 💀
Oh, lol. Somehow my exes were all good & emotionally stable people, and we parted ways in a civilized manner, without any animosity, so there is no reason to not help each other out, or meet for a drink when we're in the same area. Or just stay friends. And my bf isn't nice, he's great😉 haha. It definitely helps that he's very self-assured, so he's actually good friends with two of my exes.
I watched the first episode, and my impression was that it was cringey as hell. But that's where my better half comes in. He will stick through the Thai cringe to see what's beyond the proverbial book cover. So now we're at episode 4, and we're really enjoying it.
What does? That I'm friends with all my exes? I'm actually quite happy about that 😁 And so does my bf seem to be, but perhaps you should ask him for an "honest" answer, lol.
Uncomfortable is the word. I went with the traditional understanding of who an ex usually is and how ppl feel about them. But actually, you are right. I'm friends with all my exes, so it was a very stereotypical use of this word.
I agree with you, Choi Jae Min has exhibited absolutely insecure behavior throughout all 4 episodes, but the reason…
How you see me is your prerogative 😁 Feel free to picture whoever if it helps you feel ok about yourself. Ok, I'm out, cuz this honestly isn't going anywhere. Ciao & have a great life~

If you haven't argued with me, then we agree. Great!😁 And feel free to reply to me in "my own tone of voice". Pro tip: it's the argument that makes a point, not the tone of voice 😉
I agree with you, Choi Jae Min has exhibited absolutely insecure behavior throughout all 4 episodes, but the reason…
Oh man...all I can say is that I'm sad for you that you feel that you need to argue with anyone online. I never argue online with strangers, cuz it's simply not worth my time, nor do I care what they think 😁 The only fights I've actually ever had were with people I care for and know well personally.
I agree with you, Choi Jae Min has exhibited absolutely insecure behavior throughout all 4 episodes, but the reason…
Pleasure😁 But wow, how do u still remember me? I totally don't know who you are, sorry😅
Regardless, it's not called arguing if I'm not emotionally involved😏, it's called debating. If y'all get into a one-sided argument on your own accord, that's on you. I can't be held responsible for anyone's emotional outbursts 💀 And it seems some people here can get very emotional over absolutely nothing...

I see you've paid a lot of attention to my profile. I suppose I should update more often than never lol.
Ok, have a nice day💀 Now you can really get into high gear and spam this thread with messages about what a piece of sh*t I am in your head. Living there rent-free, apparently 😏 That's gonna really make or break my day. Oh wait, not.

Well ya, you are engaging in a heated discussion (or rather: a monologue, since you're the only one getting worked up over it), whereas I’m just providing you with cultural context of the storyline. I’d say you are being overly emotional, for what it is.
I'm not talking to you in a condescending way. I'm just adjusting my tone to your emotional outbursts 😏 But you have the right to think whatever you want of me. It's not my business, nor do I care 😁
It’s no secret, it’s in my bio. I’m Korean American. And even though I’m a few generations down the line, I’ve still been brought up with understanding of the Korean culture that vastly exceeds kdrama lol. Despite that, whenever I’m in Korea I’m always 100% American to them. They would never consider me a Korean because I don’t behave nor think like one (neither am I able to, nor do I want to). And all that despite being brought up in a way that has provided me with a relatively deep understanding of my cultural heritage, for a person born overseas. It's funny to me how I think I'd never be able to blend into the culture fully, but you claim to have a better grasp of how to read the cultural context of the story than me.
What I’m saying is that these two cultures are vastly different. You can’t explain the reasoning behind kdrama character’s actions with American thinking. The math ain’t mathing.
And since you're asking (not that it's any of your business), of course I have been to Korea, more times than I could count lol. Lately I've been spending around 3 months per year there, so I'd say I do know what I'm talking about.
Also, "a cowering, Japanese housewife" ? Wow. Bruh, what a way to be racist.

Let me clarify that, so you can understand better:
My own opinion on ML's actions has nothing to do with what I wrote. I even said I didn't approve of his actions, in one of my comments.
My comment was my informed "opinion" on what the cultural explanation & background for ML's actions were, and why what he did wasn't so shocking in the context of the Korean culture. I intended to shed some light on it for ppl who might not fully understand the nuances of K-culture. It's one thing to watch kdrama, and a whole another to actually live it.

Bet. I definitely agree on that one. With both of your points, actually. Don't go looking for your 오빠 in 홍대 💀 And the ending felt like the middle of the 3rd episode lol. But maybe that's what they wanted - to make a point.
I agree with you, Choi Jae Min has exhibited absolutely insecure behavior throughout all 4 episodes, but the reason…
Ya, they are common. Only in Korea the vast majority of breakups happens over a text or by ghosting, even in LTR (and usually no explanation is given as to why). Let's say it's their go-to method. In the US, if somebody broke up with you via text or by ghosting you, after dating for 2 years, you & your fam would be fuming, and rightfully so. In Korea, you would defo be sad, but not many of your friends would bat an eyelash. It is socially accepted. The cultural difference lies in social implications.
