Is anybody else getting confused by the same actor playing the emperor here and in A Dream within a Dream? The dude there is downright monster and when I switch to watch PG I am expecting him to continue being the cruel SOB here. Yikes!

YES! he has grown so much from his debut and other so so roles. He was really good in Journey to Love even though that was such a bummer of a show because of the ending. I think (I am going to be crucified here) he has showed more umf than Xiao Zhen who also was not trained as actor when he started. Go Boss!

If that is what the script was wouldn't this be a 4 episode version of Lord of the Ring where the eagles take the ring to Mordor and drop it there instead of Frodo and Sam doing stuff for 3 seasons? I am rather positively surprised how much there is to this seemingly bad story (honestly the couple playing with the fate mirror should go back to the drama school, they are plain awful). Not exactly a roller coaster but after thinking" ok now what - we still have 6 episodes to go" I was rather excited about the slowly moving toward resolution with the trip back to the beginning of it all. I am giving it 7,5 for the idea and the main lead chemistry, but am rather disappointed that next to these few new OST songs and BGM there are old stock of generic score I have heard in gazillion short dramas of small budget.

oh yea, thanks to comments section I skipped 3 out of 4 here altogether because I just did not want to put the time and effort to be disappointed

Even without a total wrap up in OST (the classical music in bgm is well chosen, but I would have liked something like what Emanuele Frusi did for The Love Between Fairy and Devil) this is really good production.

oh how deliciously slowly we watch the world of the comic reveal the real NH... This script is brilliant! The editor did a fabulous job in continuity

say more about it! I do not see anything in NH behavior that signifies he is the writer while Emperor insists on their marrying like in the original Obsessive Tyrant and is omnipotent as the ruler - the easiest way for someone from the outside to has things under control.

and I am even more convinced that Emperor is messing up with NH because of knowing and changing the script!!! I think Emperor is the author of the original Tyrant comic.

I enjoyed your comment. Western viewers who understand how Confucian rules of the society made women into what a lot of cdramas show can appreciate characters like Shen Yi and various struggles written into the script, Our sense of what is right screams watching the inequities and what seems like gross abuse forgetting that it was a norm at that time. It's good to have various voices expressing their opinions even if not objective. Hopefully both the drama and the exchange here or other media could lead to broadening of someone's horizons, but alas too often the discourse turns rancid if not outright nasty. Thanks!

I like the idea of two souls in one body

actually, there is no sadomasochism here at all. The leads do not engage in endless cycle of abusing each other and having fun while at it (that is what I understand by sadomasochism). There are villains who are nasty and psychopathic which means there are some scenes where FL is tortured and her loved ones killed with cruelty, but the 3 sentence synopsis is correct: two people who previously were destined to kill each other are now trying to defy the two immortals who play with their reincarnated fate. You will like it.
