There's a couple of people mentioning the Lovely Writer cameo was weird so....
Gonna keep saying this but the table nod scene at the post end credits with Gene and the real Lovely writer, was definitely a movie reference (or really unintentional haha) to the ending in "The Dark Night Rises". It was a very bittersweet and sentimental sendoff between Alfred and Bruce Wayne. So to see it in the same way here in Lovely Writer, it's like the writer's own personal treasured sendoff ~ The director or writer must be a fan of Christopher Nolan's work because they also did an Inception on the viewers ><
That reminds me the ending scene with the Lovely writer cameo was funny, it reminded me of the ending in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy https://youtu.be/LYj4Aq5fdjk?t=262 and then we had the whole inception thing lol
I really hate it when villainous characters get redemption arcs with happy endings like nothing happened, this even happens in Kdramas. So this was really satisfying seeing him suffer from his consequences (at this point in time), it also made me think that him and his sister are exactly alike. So in terms of healing if there is anyone who would understand him most would be his sister who also screwed up because of her thoughtlessness.
There's so much I want to say but this drama overall was a really nice surprise, did not expect it when I first watched the trailer. I honestly thought it was going to be a typical drama with annoying clichés, but surprisingly it has substance. It's not top tier there are some minor flaws, but you can tell they really thought things through. All the cast members did really well, especially Up who seems like a natural.
[Edit] Also on a random note, cheers for the production team for providing eps that are longer in duration. Wish this applied to other dramas haha.
For a break up episode this is probably one of the most thoroughly thought out and cohesive episodes. I loved the different angles from everyone (including the sane and delusional viewers) who were affected by the "scandal" from the selfish, neutral to the empathetic and frustrated. My favourite scenes were: Tum finally expressing his anger and disappointment to his sister (that was so realistic I honestly thought he was going to slap her back lol), Nubsib calling out the "board", Aey regretting the disaster he unraveled, and Gene in tears and being comforted by his father (Up's acting skills are consistently and surprisingly good throughout the series).
I hate seeing breakups especially ones that don't make sense at all, but when you see so many perspectives like this it doesn't feel like a filler - but rather something that was eventually going to happen sooner or later given the circumstances.
Not a kpop song but The Roses's cover of ILYSB, I can see it in a romance centred Korean Netflix Youth drama lol. Also Winter flower for fantasy/crime thriller, literally smells like a ost.
Why is the rating for this show so low??Honestly, this is the show I'm looking forward to the most every week.…
I don't rate until I've finished a drama but aside from Mydramalist latest rating change, it could be some viewers are not fond of the comedy style in this drama? It's on the slapstick side of comedy, so it could be jarring to some viewers. It's definitely a high production drama, but lacks that emotional punch for me to connect with most of the characters so far - I don't feel much for Pi and Duen as of yet. Which reminds me this could be done on purpose to see both brother's character growth.
Another thing is that because Pi is still in love with Nan, Mork might be friendzoned and on the hook for eps on end- so it might be irritating to watch for some viewers lol. I personally enjoy the comedy elements but wish it was toned down maybe 20-30% so that we can get to the story.
How scary is this drama? Sounds like a really good drama but I can't watch Horror Horror. If it's more on the supernatural spooky like Hotel De Luna and Master's Sun then it's okay haha :)
I hope actress Jiwoo is okay, literally after this drama she's been awol. She went through so many hate comments for playing the replacement Eunjae Role, even criticised for the way she looked.
1st ep was funny and quirky as. I was also put off guard hearing an English track in the series, looks like it might go on Netflix later on? It matched the series really well.
I'm somewhat burnt out from Kdramas (or maybe it's the lack of interesting rom-com dramas lol), so this drama…
Oh really? I thought there was a lot of friendship/bromance Chinese dramas, I haven't watched them so can't say much on it. I would suggest currently airing Korean drama Navillera, definitely not bromance haha but it sure has friendship. Ahhh there's Muchuu-sa, Kimi ni if you haven't seen, it's quirky. Hopefully someone can add on more recs?
From other comments I guess its only me who found this drama abit boring with acting problem here and there
I'm somewhat burnt out from Kdramas (or maybe it's the lack of interesting rom-com dramas lol), so this drama is refreshing to me. You're not alone, there's people that don't like this drama - really comes down to preference. I know there's a lot of people who like 1000 stars but it got boring in the 2nd half for me, I was struggling to finish off the finale (^_^;)
Does anyone else feel that the traits of child characters of gene and sib should have been interchanged coz sib…
I think their separation caused them to change somewhat in personality. It affected both of their lives especially Gene - who has changed the most. Situations and circumstances in life can change one's personality over time. However there were some instances where both were still kind of the same e.g. Gene being stubborn and Nubsib causing mischief.
If y'all don't mind a little bit of personal sharing ...To address the question of whether a boy as young as seven…
Not at all and cheers for sharing, I'm glad you were able to relate to this week's episode. Now that I think about it, there's going to be quite a number of people looking back into their childhood crushes :)
Random but the actors playing Mork and Green, are doing a drama together! I still haven't fully absorbed ep7 in my head (it was the most well executed episode so far), and a new drama is out haha.
So, was I the only one that was concerned with the fact that Sib, the child, did not seem to grow within those…
It's most likely a budget issue or they couldn't be bothered with it. I guess we can say his growth spurth came out later haha. What disturbs me more is when there are 30+ aged actors playing their teen selves for flashbacks in some kdramas.
