You are so right...man this is whacked out. I don't mind an incomplete series...well it isn't fun...but we can live that while waiting for a SS, right?
But this was an ABRUPT ending...as in stopping in the middle of a scene.
So the expectation that we might get a finished product in the SS seemed a reasonable one to me. Dunno, wonder if part of the first season got shredded ....on a cutting floor somewhere, because no one planned that ending. Period.

Sooo...after reading your comments...(which thank you for the heads up) I am bewildered. Like many of you I adored season 1...but ...since we left our hero in a pool of blood in a cave alone.....I need absolute clarification....that we are getting zero continuation of the story? So to be clear...no one bothered to tell us what happened with him in the cave, or why she betrayed him.....or what happened to his ring and his teacher and all the rest? How lovely.
So they just are gonna leave us hanging and write a different parallel story?
That is rather jerky, isn't it?
And if that isn't nasty enough,...they want to jerk us around more by calling it a season 2 when it is an adaptation of? How sick is that?

I enjoyed your post. You could be right...she may be the one sending them, otherwise the timing would be sus. And yeah...also agree on his mysterious backstory. Can't wait for some of this to be fleshed out. I did not expect this to be this interesting. Hard to wait for the next episodes.

Surely how he got the part time piano gig....isn't enough to blackmail anyone, but those pics...they gotta have something to do with it, he is short of money...so dunno, but maybe something like that?
One thing is for sure, he adores Yeji. No guy runs his finger across a girls lips and through her hair unless he is so into her he can't help himself.

And wow, anyone else liking this new relationship between Soonjae and Yeji? She started it to show Soobin whats up lol...and that seems to have worked...but I am loving the vibes of this offbeat relationship. Could they have more in common than first thought? It seems likely.

So even though all we know is the sketchiest of details..still as high school series go, this one has a great cast with just enough intrigue and tension...mmmm....to make it a fascinating watch.

I loved you @ your ID! As a newbie here....all my buddies have been coaching me...do not post reviews until the series is finished.. ppl hate that ....lol....so of course I had to break the rule and post one. Lol. But it was to counter all the negatives (see how I did that) so it was all for a good cause.
Seriously, I think because he looks so fine...mummmm....that ppl get a bit hung up over that and miss seeing how very gifted he is. If you watched his vapid portrayal as Jun Ho in that first ep you might check out right there..but it was because it was so overdone.....that it was so satisfying when as Do Ha ..he flipped the script..lol. ..we were lovin' it.
A group of us watched The Forbidden Marriage LIVE during the holidays and we were so lit that we were on our tippy toes each week. That one won big... expecting both leads to win awards for this one as well. I want that ID pic...

Yeah..at the end of episode 4 when he has taken some pills and she finds him dazed on the stairs..that scene grabbed me. She said, "how many pills have you taken? Were you determined to die? and he answered “no matter how much I took, my pain wouldn’t go away, the same with 1500 years ago and now, you make me weak like this.”
So moved, she says forcefully “as long as I exist you will never die” and I loved that.

I don't consider this Makjang (soap opera on steroids) for one thing a true Makjang usually has a ton of episodes...this one is very short.
And it does have some Melo...but nothing extremely depressing..in fact..it has some terrifically funny moments...(look for first kiss, grandma's pants, and brownies) and besides,...it is just dang fun to watch...so not easy an easy series to categorize.

So true..which makes her commanding attention so authentic. Even though the other girls are pretty in the study group...she is easily the most attractive...and because of that she draws the eye...which fits the storyline perfectly.

Wow...just loving this one so far. Bai Lu is nailing this role ..and she does it looking soooo pretty. As someone said below...she does seem to be collecting men this go around. Which is fun, but dangerous. When does the emperor make her acquaintance or does he?

I think that was intentional. Notice the SFL looked stunning all the time. So clearly they dressed the FL down. She is actually a very attractive woman...but you wouldn't know it because of her wardrobe. That is probably my only gripe about the series. I do hate it when they make the FL look dowdy. With few exceptions, she wore oversized jackets and horrible pants with a white tee. I just hated the look. Please writers..do NOT do this. We get the point. Lol.

If you want justice...they deliver.

Interesting that you called Gu Xu the main lead...because that is how the writer saw him too. He is an interesting lead...because he (like her) is neither flashy nor playboy charming.
She is looking for neither of those qualities, she has sacrificed style for substance once...this time she wants someone with strength of character. They really match one another beautifully. She needs a man she can respect...and he seems so legit because of that.

I remember feeling that same urge..can we please get on with it? Lol, but the writers are brilliant and the delay is important for setting up the story. She is not sitting still..she is using the time well...and proactively getting her head back in the game. Stay with it..I think you are gonna love it.

Very realistic. I agree. And that authentic portrayal is part of what made us so invested in her subsequent recovery. I expected...that the subject matter might be depressing as heck and I had my finger on the trigger if it became traumatic.....but surprisingly it was anything but. For some reason it was inspiring.....and each time she succeeded...I felt elated and satisfied. So very cool and unexpected too.
