I still haven't completed FNOS - Just wasn't able to handle the very emotional "good-byes" plus I loved the 2nd couple, and they didn't get the proper, emotional end.
However, now that AoS has essentially jumped the shark for me, I can probably handle FNOS if I hit the FF button at the right moments. I enjoy reading your posts that continue to promote FNOS - articulate, positive posts that aim to persuade rather than criticize. π
Does anyone know why they decided to make Yoo In Soo look like an idol? I mean what is their rationale? He looks…
Other than a couple of sword scenes with Dang-gu, he has been back-benched to Jang Uk and Yul. The "Four Seasons" are apparently the "Two Seasons" (Winter and Fall). I am crossing my fingers that we will see more of Dang-gu(Summer) and Cho-yeon (Spring) in Season 2 but... . . . keeping my expectations very low.

Yes I agree it is "all in character". I understand the reasons. During the first 4 episodes, I thought the romance would be epic - but it never got there for me. I am careful not to criticize folks here on MDL who live for the romance. But I'm not obligated to like or admire the character. π
I see a lot of people calling Naksu dumb or frustrated that she hasnβt figured out whose body she is in and…
I don't like the character of Naksu. There - I said it. And the primary reason is that she hasn't shown any remorse for killing another woman and taking over her body. She's shown curiosity, but no remorse. But I blame the writers. I would have liked to see that remorse/guilty feelings much earlier in the show - but it never happened, so it ruined the character for me.
But then, I don't believe there is a real person "Naksu". She is a creation of Jin Mu thru false memories and with false memories and brainwashing. Survival is all she knows. The viewer might understand her and many admire her - but I, for one, have no obligation to like her.
The full moon scene is in the starting of episode 2 when Jang Uk pulls Mu Deok into the hide out. We see the full…
Thanks for your reply - I remembered the moon scene in Ep. 2, but I thought it first "appeared" in the earlier scene - I absolutely did not catch that it was a fire cracker signal. The Ep. 15 scene isn't the one I'm thinking of - but I spent some time today trying to find it and maybe it was my imagination. π Again, thanks for your help.
JSM portrays cold heart Naksu, smart and busy Mudeok, and elegant Buyeon really well. She is a great actress.
Not to mention "country-girl" Mudeok (different accent) . Plus - there is a striking difference (and I wonder if we will ever get an answer) between the blind-folded girl beside the river (with So-i) and the Bu-yeon talking to "Naksu" in the ice stone. And what an amazing scene that was - same actress and two completely different personalities.
Fellow Alchemists, I'm hoping someone can guide me to particular brief scene that was in the last 6-8 episodes.
I'm not sure where it occurred (somewhere within Daeho Fortress) or what was happening at the time. It was at night and dark - and then all of a sudden the clouds parted and the moon shone brightly. It was very similar to the scene in Ep. 1 where Songrim was battling the assassins and the full moon suddenly appeared when Dang-gu walked out on the bridge.
When it happened in a recent episode, I thought - this reminds me of Ep. 1. But I haven't been able to find it in a re-watch. Anyone remember?
Very interesting interview with Hwang Min Hyung that has been translated by a good soul on Twitter. A few tidbits about his role on AoS:
πHe was specifically instructed to not smile and be very blank-faced through all of the early episodes until his "confusion" scenes began. Other actors were allowed to ad-lib a bit or show off facial expressions, but he was prohibited. πHe was originally asked to audition for the part of Jang Uk (!) but during audition said he would be a better fit for Yul (no joke!). Because of his dance training, he found the sword choreography easy to learn/memorize. [In one of his videos, he said AoS sought him out because he was already in good shape from his dance training.] π They are nearing the end of filming.
Remember about the seven stars surrounding Uk? Naksu/Mu Deok, CP, Yul, Danggu, Cho Yeon, and Bu Yeon and Yun Ok.…
Haha, I was just going to make that comment again (walk away from computer for a couple of hours and this place goes crazy) but saw you were nice enough to give me credit. π
Any theories what shaman Choi was accusing Park Jin of in the preview? Something that he knew about but knowingly…
According to the YouTube that Hope posted above, although the video shows Fake Queen at the time, they say it's Ho-Gyeong that is angry at Park Jin. Don't know if it is accurate or not but some of these YouTubers are pretty good with voices.
Someone ( sorry cant remember) said that the book in the fire was about ice stone knowledge tha Jang Kang was…
i copied this post last night (my time) by AlchemyOfKDrama because I thought it was so interesting. (since they didn't put a spoiler tag on it, I'm not going to) AlchemyOfKDrama For those that didn't quite catch it, the thing they show being burned in the fire (looks like a box to me - probably has a book or papers) in the preview has Cheongam written on it, translating to blue rock - i.e. that ice stone. Looks like Jang Kang went around destroying things about the ice stone and wanting to stop everyone that knew about it from using it/finding it.

That's very interesting. From the preview, it also hints that Park Jin knew all along what he was doing - although the previews are always deceiving. Thank you for sharing this.
Jae Wook uploaded some bts pictures including the one with Jang Kang in his Instagram π₯°πhttps://www.instagram.com/p/ChjtDOMr0BM/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Thanks for sharing. The moon/shadow one is intriguing.
in the preview I think father Jin is trying to protect his beloved daughter from someone who try to attack her.…
I want to know who is standing behind Dang-gu during that shaman ritual. And why are he and Cho-yeon dressed in the colors of the Palace Guard. Maybe - should I cross my fingers - Chodang is finally getting a story of their own rather than being little satellites around Jang Uk and Mu-deok. And it looks like Jang Gang is coming up the steps to the Training Centr when the soul shift is beginning. I'm really looking forward to this part of the story.
How many episodes they wasted with JBY/ fake daughter plot. Still no progress on it when they didn't know JBY…
Mama Jin knows - and so does jin Mu. Master Lee is pretty certain as well. Naksu has never concerned herself with the person whose body she stole - why should she question it now?
Jae Wook is an ace, he will surely pull it off with GYJ as well.
I hope you are not implying that the chemistry was all due to LJW. He did hold his own with the amazing JSM but can he carry all of it?? We'll see.π
In EP 18 her fight scenes, realize it's the time when they need Go Yoon Jung.
Precisely. What do Naksu fans want - a lengthy sword fight that will further drain energy from the survivors? ? I don't understand the denigration of JSM - she studied ballet, there are many videos out there of her dancing. Plus, all those action scenes with GYJ - she had a body double for the big stuff, just like the male mages.
With all the rumors flying that JSM will not be coming back for season 2, I hope it's just a PR strategy from…
You asked how it could happen? Master Lee shifted his soul into a FROZEN body of a dead boy. Naksu's body was FROZEN when Gil-ju stole it from Songrim. And Jin Mu wanted a Very Public burning so that everyone would assume - just like most viewers - that it's not possible for her to return. That's how it could be done - just like Master Lee.
