Maybe check-out user "BL Compilations" review, they provide watch suggestions which may cut-out some of the story…
Thank you for the suggestion but too late, I've watched the whole thing... To me, the beginning was unbearable to watch (the guy was too creepy to my liking). Then, it was okay, sometimes cute, but I couldn't see past Taishin's stalking trait. It's a 4 for me. I may be harsh but romantising stalking is a big no, in my opinion.
I am almost at the end and it's kind of like My Beautiful Man - we get the other guys perspective a bit and he…
Exactly! I mean, it's true that in My Beautiful Man, the guy is quite stalkerish but, at least, he doesn't cross half of the country to meet a guy he only saw once just to say thank you... I've finished the drama and, even though, some scenes are quite cute, I couldn't get over the fact that the guy is a stalker. He's actually the same as the older guy that stalks him - sorry not sorry. If Taishin's character was an ugly old guy, people would've criticised the stalking parts saying that he's a creep. I hate double standards...
So... I'm only on episode 2 and I read some of the comments here but... I'm wondering what is so good about this series that everyone seems to like it. Because for now, I only see a creepy young guy that is WAY too innocent to my liking and that is stalking another guy just because he consoled him once. I mean, you don't enroll to a university that is about 5-hour far from your hometown by train just to meet a guy you only met once! That's crazy! I thought we were past those type of creepy characters in a TV show...
So... First of all, the duration on this page is wrong: it's not 21 min but more 33 min (huge difference). Second of all, I didn't like this series. I know this is very short but it's not a reason for the characters to fall in love almost instantly. There was absolutely no build up in their relationship so I couldn't believe they liked each other. Also, the supposed twist is very predictable. I could tell who was Kyo since the first episode and... that makes things really really weird! And the fact that Kyo is always there at unexpected moments was more weird than romantic, imo. Also, the kisses were so cringe... I don't recommend this series.
Very good first episode. I'm already hooked. Love nerdy Tay that is scared of ghosts, obnoxious New that mixes Thai with English, crazy Jan that really cares for her brother and serious Mook that is always rolling her eyes at her boss' remarks.
Unlike some people, I really like that we don't focus only on Jane and Ryan's story. I think it is good to see the story of the other characters too - who are not supporting roles to me, but main leads as well. However, I can't support Bahmee and Judy's love story. As cute as both the actresses are, after how things went down with Bahmee's cheating, I really can't support her... But I'm glad that, for once, Off is playing a "real" gay character. Because all of his other characters that he played in a BL with Gun, he was always "straight" before turning "gay" (or bi, if you prefer).
Well, it was watchable so I don't think I'm too far off. I consider it a bit like Cooking Crush that I also rated…
To me, it wasn't cute, but cringe. And if Keen's acting skills were okay, it was definitely not the same for his acting partner... Also, the story wasn't interesting at all. There were too many clichés and unecessary drama. And I don't agree with you with the characters' growth: Moo was the same childish brat from beginning to end. I much prefer watching My Love Mix-Up all over again than this crap of a show - just my opinion, of course.
Well, it was watchable so I don't think I'm too far off. I consider it a bit like Cooking Crush that I also rated…
I understand your point of view but I think we just have different takes on shows... Because - I'm sorry, don't take it the wrong way but - how could you give My Only Boo an 8! See, in my opinion, it is this type of series that deserve below average (I rated it a 3). Again, rating a show is very subjective so I understand that you think I was too nice with this show as I complained a lot about it but, to me, it didn't deserve below average.
For not wasting time your rating is much too high... 6.0 means above average, which this show is not, it is far…
Well, it was watchable so I don't think I'm too far off. I consider it a bit like Cooking Crush that I also rated 6. Not exceptionnally good, but not awfully bad either. I always had difficulty to rate a show as it is very subjective but, to me, 6 out of 10 is not that good.
They didn't even release that scene where Kongthap cried talking to his mom, which completely made Gemini invisible…
I was just about to comment on that. I was shocked to see that they let Atom come out to Kongthap's mum when it's not his job to do so... Incredibly stupid...
As a whole, it was a pretty good drama. But as some people pointed out, it also has many flaws. Most of them related to the characters. One of the main characters is dangerously jealous (and most of the time for no apparent reasons). The other is, in the first half of the series, gullible but fun and cute and, in the second half, depressed and sick for the most part (the poison storyline was sooo freaking long!...). Also, I may be a bit masochist but I would have loved to see some characters die (for example, Su Yin who completely lost my sympathy when he lied to Huai'En and Xiao Bao in the last episode - and the worst thing is that Xiao Bao still liked him even though he knew he was lying to him... - and the Crown Prince who I called a "tête à claques" - which in French would be translated as someone that has a face you want to slap. That guy was so dislikable and he was obviously the only one Thai in the cast which was so weird because he's supposed to be the Crown Prince...). Anyway, I still liked the drama despite half of it being a bit boring, in my opinion.
in the manga they really never confess to the parents. the parents just know and they are OK with it. also in…
I think we can stop talking about the manga because it never really was faithful to it in the first place... Also, I don't mind that the mothers know without their sons coming out. My problem was just that this scene felt like Atom's mother cornered Kongthap and I didn't like it.
So... If it wasn't clear enough that the director wanted to insert as many My School President's references as he could, we now have a cameo of the one and only Chinzilla (without Gun for obvious reasons...). Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate seeing all the boys reunited but I didn't like it either. It was weird, especially without Fourth's playing Gun. It was out of place. Also, I might be the only one but I hated the scene with the mum. She deliberately lied to Atom in order to corner Kongthap and say what? That Atom has some childhood trauma and that he should be prepared? That was not right! Especially because Atom hasn't yet confessed to her that he was dating Kongthap, so I felt that she wanted to force the poor guy to confess instead. I felt really uncomfortable for Kongthap and that wasn't cute at all. Thank god the series is ending next week because that was a hell of a mess.
I don't share your opinion: first of all, the Japanese version is not the "original" series. Original is the manga,…
Your comment really feels like you want to show off your lingo and knowledge of the manga but your main point of view on this thai version fell flat. I don't care if the manga won a prize and that it was written by this person and illustrated by that person. The point is: the thai version is not good.
You (and other defensers of the series) always talk about the culture difference between Japan and Thailand and that's why the two series are so different but I definitely don't agree with this argument. You know why? Because the thai adaptation of Cherry Magic worked but not this one. So what is your argument to explain that? Because Cherry Magic is a thai series (so has the thai culture ingrained in it), they also made changes and it was successful. Why? Because they understood the original material (and yes, I'm talking about the manga, even though, we can include the drama as well). They understood the story, they knew how to adapt the story to fit in the thai society and the most important thing, they understood the characters, which is not the case for this adaptation.
So of course, they have the right to change things to make it their own, but as I already pointed out, those changes were not good, they don't work for me (and a lot of other people). For example, you're talking about the musical and if I didn't mind they change the Cinderella story to ingrain thai culture in it (I actually thought it was pretty good), I hated everything about the rest. First, the fact that Fourth didn't dress up as Cinderella. It's not because I fetishise men dressing up as woman but this scene, in the manga and drama, is actually here to show that Aoki is ready to ridicule himself just to save a classmate. Here, there's no sense of ridicule and sacrifice. I also hated they transform the play into a musical because, as I already pointed that out, this series is not a My School President n°2. We don't need to hear Fourth and Gemini sing in this series and I'm mad at GMMTV that wants to include singing scenes in every of their series just because their actors are also singers. I would also add the fact that the theatre was half empty during the play and that no parents were there to see their children play was very ridiculous.
My main point is: they don't understand the point of each scene and when they make changes, they totally erase what made this scene in particular beautiful.
To answer you more precisely: "Although the stories are based on the same original work and respect its spirit, the scenes are not always represented in the same way." - It doesn't respect the spirit of the original work at all... "Anyway, the Thai remake generates slight changes to the original, especially since it incorporates a musical" - The musical thing wasn't a slight change... "All this makes the series starring Gemini and Fourth more immersive, sparkling, memorable and refreshing to watch even if you know the story." - Immersive for you, but not for the majority of the people here. Memorable, yes, but not in a good way, unfortunately... And it's neither sparkling or refreshing but cringe and ridiculous. Also, why the need to precise that the show is starring Gemini and Fourth?
All of that to say that we have different opinions about the show and each one of us are entitled to them. You like the show, well good for you, really, but stop trying to convince others that we don't like the show because we don't understand that it's a different culture. This argument doesn't work.
As much as I loved Aoki in the j-drama version, I'm not really feeling Atom in this one - he comes across as cringe…
I'm reassured to learn that you have about the same age as me, I feel less alone ^^ And I totally agree with you: I like school dramas when it's well done. This one is not. It's not awful, but it's not good either.
I agree that Fourth's acting in this is a bit cringe, but unlike you, I don't really like how Kongthap is played in this show. I prefer the "socially cold" Ida from the manga and drama. But to each their own and that's how the director wanted Gemini to play...
Thank you for this. People really need to chill a bit. Also, WangXian in your DP made me check out your watchlist…
You're welcome 😉 And yes, some fans really need to chill because it damages the overall image of the fans of an actor. I'm happy to learn that we have similar tastes as I tend to love series that are mostly hated and hate series that are mostly loved 😆
Some people really need to chill... I'm going to be clear right from the start: Gemini and Forth are one of my top three favourite on-screen couples. I loved them since My School President that I've watched a bunch of times and that I'm still going to watch in the future. They are very talented actors and singers and have a brilliant career ahead of them. HOWEVER, you have to call a cat, a cat: their acting in this series in not that good! I really don't blame them for that because the main problems of this series are the script, the choices that the filming crew made when making this series (because they changed a lot of things and not for the best) and the director - and you know what? He is the same director that did My School President! And that is maybe the big problem of this series because (and I already pointed that out 3 episodes ago) I feel he's trying to make a My School President 2 and that doesn't work for me.
I may also be to blame as I'm comparing the show a lot to the Japanese original series, BUT I loved the Cherry Magic thai adaptation and I also compared the two versions at the time... I really wanted this adaptation to be good but we have to be real: it is really not. And for the people saying that they are following the manga, not the drama, well... why didn't Atom dress up as Cinderella then? Why didn't Mudmee tried to change haircut in this episode? And why did they bump into the teacher when the teacher is supposed to see them from afar? I'm sorry but the Japanese drama is way more faithful to the manga than this thai series, so stop trying to make excuses for the sh*t show that this is. If you love this series, good for you!, but it can't be the same for everybody.
Sorry, I really like Fourth and Gemini and I know this series isn't that good, but it's not because of any of…
I agree that the scene is supposed to be funny and all but - and it's only my opnion - in the Japanese version, we can feel that Aoki is really sad about the death of the dog, hence the ridiculousness and the funniness of the scene. However, in the thai version, I didn't feel the sadness in Atom's face or voice. It was just plain ridiculous. I even felt a bit cringy watching the scene in the thai version whilst I just rewatched the scene from the Japanese version on YT and I immediately laughed. That's the difference between the two shows.
