In the preview, HJP told NDS to man up and ask Dalmi out properly. HJP IS LETTING HER GO.
Yes great bc we don't need that love triangle for the last 2 eps but HJP why are you so selfless to the very end when it comes to SDM? Can I keep you instead? I AM CRYING.
Pretty sure the rating of this show was still at 8.6 here after yesterday's ep. It's at 8.4 now. The people are disappointed so much. Lol what more when the last ep airs HAHA
NDS leaving his mom on the side walk to go to SDM was my favorite WTH moment in today's ep. I can't believe he left his mom at night in a sidewalk rather than taking her with him? But okay.
I have been self-reflecting on where did Start Up go wrong. After reading the comments here, it suddenly dawned…
I know kdramas are designed differently in a way that often times scripts aren't done until maybe the last few episodes of the show (?). Of course, there are shows that are pre-produced. They are continuously rewritten for different reasons but mostly I believe is because of the response of the audience. This is a good thing sometimes. As a writer, you want to write a successful story that can speak to the audience you want to address to. This showcases the writer's flexibility and creativity to think of ideas that the audience will like. At the same time, this can be the downfall of the story. Using your analogy, doesn't God know what's best? In this case, shouldn't the writer know what best fit the story she created? Of course there are some other factors that may play in the part of the writing of the story such as profitability. In that case, you should know why the writer made such story in the first place. Was it to inspire? Was it to reflect a reality? Was it to sell to the general public? Was it simply to share a story? etc.
As the consumers of these programs, we might think sometimes that we have the say in how the story should go because it will only be successful if the general public likes it. Great, if that was the intention of the writer: to appease the people. But that wouldn't be creatively-fulfilling as a writer. If I was an artist, it would be frustrating for me if people continuously tell me what to do. There is freedom in art. Scripts are art. But like I said, there are factors to consider and intentions to be met. At the end of the day, the writer is the God, and the story is the world they created. The audience are merely guests in this world.
But I get where you are coming from. I personally think this isn't the writer's best work. She should listen to criticisms especially in her characters. But that is only if she wants to create a story that will be well-received by the public.
This was a boring episode and based on the next ep, it will have more focus on the push and pull relationship of the main male and female leads. I don't understand why they can't be together? There's literally no one in between them. One might say "How about HJP?". He literally has no chance. 3 years passed and nothing happened. He is not a blockage at all. If SDM and NDS could just be honest with each other about their feelings to get it done and over with. BUT no the writer has to drag this lame plot line to the very end even interwinding in this web of chaos HJP and even changing his personality to a jealous and love sick boy. This is not it.
I swear if there will be a scene in the next episodes showing NDS and HJP comparing their hands as to who has the bigger one; I will throw hands at the writer. I will draw the line there and then.
When SDM literally was silent for a few seconds because he heard NDS's voice was so annoying. She was crying (???) I don't know about you, but knowing that my 2 billion project is about to go down the drain, I would think about that first. She literally had a chat with him asking if he was in Korea. My lost love wouldn't even cross my mind. Kinda incompetent, if you ask me as a CEO.
I can stomach NDS on-screen, but every time Yong San shows up I just have the sudden urge to throw hands. I just dislike him so much. Glad to know he hasn't change. He's still obsessed with getting an apartment with a view of the Han River.
"I want to be the person that comes to mind when life gets tough",
I knew HJP to the very end will put SDM first regardless of how it will affect him. Because of this, I will forever be frustrated knowing that SDM will never choose him.
I haven't started this one yet and it appears that the 2nd half is trash. I still have Nightmares with Do You…
I guess? If you have no other dramas to watch. But if you want to enjoy a story with a good writing, this isn't it. I personally think Do you like Brahms was a lot worse, story wise bc it was just repeating again and again. In here, you get annoyed by different things but mostly done by the ML
Another genuine question: What do you think is Seo Dal Mi's appeal that got a boy and a man chasing after her?
For NDS, I think it's because she was one of the women (other than his mom probably) who believed and was interested about his dream. Before that point, no one wanted to listen to him. For HJP, I think it's because Dal Mi is resilient. She learns from criticisms and does not let other people walk over her. She keeps telling him, that it's okay that he's harsh because it's also for their own good.
A genuine and innocent question: What do you think is Nam Do San's appeal that Dal Mi just can't get enough of?
Like seriously what's so appealing about a man whose biggest dream in life is you? That would be fine I guess if he was really rich and he has nothing left to do in this world. But that's not the case here. I personally would want a man who has a backbone. Not a person who would nod every time I say something. I need a man not a dog. (Maybe Dal MI needs one? IDK)
I dont want HJP to become a softie when it comes to criticizing businesses looking for investments. I want him to stay as he is. Harsh and honest. Like others have mentioned, a major flaw in his character that he needs to work on is leaning and asking help from others especially emotionally.
PS. I really love how Dal Mi keeps reminding him that it's okay if he's harsh because they needed it.
In summary Yong San is an emotional wreck. His reason for his general dislike for HJP is very shallow. I know it's because of grief. Shifting blame is a common response when losing someone. But I wish it didn't risk HIS company's future. This was just so selfish of him to put his emotions first before the company. And lol that stupid speech he gave to the others with HJP hearing.
Of course, HJP would nitpick on everything, he is an investor. He is putting money (the firm's money) into a business because he wants to earn more than he invested. It's a business. Of course, it's all about profit and success. Doesn't he know that? I mean he is in the business world for some time now. This is basic.
I will probably forever be annoyed of his blindness towards HJP's effort for SST. He throws them away just because his brother could not take a setback and a straightforward comment from an investor. The business world is a tough place. This is no place for softies. You should be able to turn criticisms into inspirations. No wonder SST was going no where until DM and HJP came along. You have these 3 directors who have little to no knowledge whatsoever of the business and corporate world.

"If this hurts you, you shouldn't have started a business" The business world is harsh. You cannot just be naive or you get played.
