Next scene literally shows her grabbing Cheng Yang's hand to show her around the lantern festival because it was Cheng Yang's first time. It should be noted that this is also Shao Shang, HER DAUGHTER's FIRST TIME. And she actually did this in front of her too.
This woman is a hypocrite. I never really understood the concept of "hard love" that parents often show to their children. I get that the world is harsh, but shouldn't parents be a safe place for their children? I understand her being strict, but she can't even protect her own child. This is why Shao Shang is scheming because she had to rely on herself. This is her mother's fault in the first place. What her mother trying to teach her daughter exactly? To hate her? To hold grudges? Her playing favoritism will only separate them further.
How does Douban work exactly? Why do some dramas take so long for a Douban score to appear, while there are others like A Dream of Splendor, where it takes only mere days?
Initially, I praised this drama for its beautiful cinematography. Now, it's my biggest issue. A single scene is repeated in so many angles and are in slow motion, and that takes a big chunk of the episode. We're in ep.11 next week but nothing major has happened yet. I realized the script is weak and they're trying to distract us from this fact with pretty sceneries.
What is it with fantasy Cdramas and bittersweet endings? Ugh. But I understand why it happened here.
Anyways, casting directors should really put Yang Yang in a good xianxia drama. That white hair and that armor in the fight scene of the last ep? It's the blueprint.
Ngl, Feng Ju was spitting facts. The king was definitely an enabler. Doing nothing is also doing something.
FLX is definitely too understanding. I'm definitely not the bigger person like him because I would have definitely never understood my father and I would have held a grudge towards him.
Picked up this drama again and finished EP28. Yang Yang's acting is at legendry level in episode 28, and somehow…
I kinda agree that Yang Yang's acting is too good for this drama. The script is full of inconsistencies. I can even dare to say that he out-acts every person he's in the scene with. I'm constantly amazed at how expressive his eyes are.
I'm annoyed at how the writer continuously makes the characters denser for the sake of the plot. FLX still don't know that BFX and Xi Yun are the same person but Wu Yuan connected the two. Considering his personality, he would have done a background check already on BFX, but anyways the writer really wants a dramatic reveal.
I've been annoyed for some time now but ep. 32 takes the cherry on top with illogicality with how Master Bai and his daughter behaved. I was just in a "????????" mood throughout the episode. The fact that Wu Yuan was there and no one found it suspicious is baffling.
Is this right: Lang Xi doesn't own Fountain Abode anymore and right now is managed by Minister Feng under the order of the king?
Not only is he an awful king but he's also the worst father. I'm really excited to see his face when he finds out that Feng Ju will attack him. In ep. 31, he says that Feng Ju did all those things against Lang Xi for his sake and the kingdom's. He's really stupid to believe that. I can't believe he stayed in that seat for as long as he did with that kind of attitude. I'm quite disappointed that we still get to see him alive afterwards. I hope he will at least get hit by one of those arrows.
I'm just here to say that Feng Lang Xi's dad is awful and I'm glad his third son is stabbing him in the back and starting an uprising to take the throne from him.
He knows that the queen and his son has been trying to get rid of Lan Xi all these years and want the crown for themselves. He just let them be and never took strong actions against them. Why did he never think that they wouldn't get rid of him too? Lmao.
I don't want a redemption arc for him. I hope his kingdom gets really taken away. Idc if Feng Ju succeeds.
They gave us so many cute scenes between the leads in the first 12 eps that I'm actually worried the succeeding ones will be angsty. Anyways I enjoyed the first 12 eps and was surprised I found it good lmao. Like what people mentioned, the choreography for the fight scenes are good. The chemistry between the leads are also good. I found myself grinning when they're together on screen. YangYang looks good but I like it better when he's sporting his Hei Feng Xi hair. The pony tail suits him better than the bun one (looks good still btw). Also, isnt he too careless to walk around in Yongzhou as Hei Feng Xi? What if the queen finds out? His older brother already did.
I want them to know each other's real identity already.

I missed that part where he explained about the incident with the refrigerator, and the taxi driver to Jin Hoo.
But, yep, I think I'm going to have SL syndrome here. Why does HMY have to be that handsome?
Edit: I'm more sure after seeing that scene in ep.4, he's really doubting her now.
The first 2 eps were really interesting though.

The last time I was obssessed over a hairstyle was with Wu Lei's braids in Long Ballad.
I wish Yang Yang would do more constume dramas because he honestly looks good.

The ponytail looks so good on him.
