Title The Promise Spoiler
This drama was a perfect example that revenge is futile...if we all went out eye for an eye everytime we felt…
I think you missed the point that the major flaw of this drama is that the "bad guys" remained unrepentant and unpunished (except YK who was partially punished).
They brushed off SJ repentance by conveniently giving her an accident+amnesia. They literally shut down any reminder of the three people who died because of the scheming. There would never be a perfect ever after for NY since you never recover from losing mother, sister, child all in one. And there was no need for gory deaths or dramatic accidents, basic acknowledgment of wrongs and atonement would have been the least decent resolution to offer viewers.
There is something very twisted and depraved in the idea that forgiving means condoning impunity and foregoing repentance.
Also the resolution was totally unrealistic with another accident and all its consequences, a pure deus ex machina stemming from obvious inability to handle the story and a proper resolution.

Contrary to a lot of comments, this was actually decent. Though I definitely agree about "what was the writer…
What was wrong with HK was how he willingly turned a blind eye to everything wrong his sister did while comfortably yelling at and blaming NY for everything she did to bring out the truth. HK lives in fear of upsetting his sister since childhood. He sacrifices everything and everybody (the worst being his own mom) as long as he's not the one to upset YK. That is one major problem with him and he doesn't deserve to be with NY. She needs happiness with someone that can protect her, not expose her to his family wickedness then beg her to accept it and not do anything because he doesn't wanna upset. More than worrying that NY would be hurt he worried that his family would be troubled. He did and said so many unacceptable things because of this mindset.
Writers first made him just a caring guy naïve to his monster sister. But developed him to be a hypocritical guy blinded by his family ideals.

don't neurosurgeons have psychological evaluation before they get their license tho? there's no way he would pass…
OMG that's definitely NOT the person I would hand my life over. I rather someone scared, stressed or reluctant at the idea of me losing my life in their hands. The last thing I want is some kind of emotionless robot who doesn't give a shit and doesn't feel or fear shit.
I think the worst thing you can do as a doctor is annihilate the human factor, the occurrence of the unpredictable and the power of emotions when it comes to healing and human life. And this certainly has nothing to do with trembling in an operation room. @_@

Don't waste your time with this drama. It's really bad. The heroine is crushed from beginning to end, she ends up forgetting to treat herself decently, guess she internalized the abuse.
The writers didn't know what to do with their story. They made the evil ones go so far in their wickedness they didn't know what could be done to turn them around. So they went for an overly irrational ending twist. Can't believe they'll have NY end up with someone like HK. Poor girl...after suffering all this...smh

How you gonna ruin a drama like that? WTH just 2 episodes of weak revenge stupidly rushed in... @_@ REALLY writers? You can already predict how the two last will be.
So lame! Proving me right again when I say K-writers suck big time at revenge dramas. SMDH.

It's stupid to rush all the revenge in like 3 or 4 ep from a 104 ep drama. :(
They're also making HK more and more annoying. Please he wants to stop NY form hurting his family but turned a blind eye when they were hurting her...can he just go already?!!! lol

I have a hard time watching it. Find the mom insufferable, there's smth weird in her meddling. It's like she sees her daughters as puppets who should live according to her ideals and only hers. The dad has zero presence so guess it's his way of spoiling his wife which made her overbearing. First sister is the only decent one, has her flaws but reasonable and caring. Second sister is kind but I hate when writers imply a girl being useless is more attractive and that being sensitive and kind means being stupid and doormat like smh...
Third sister is the worse...please...in all her "smartness" she finds nothing else to do than flirt and romance with a married guy ! @_@ like seriously!!!!!????
Forth sister is annoying, the whole acting childish and spoilt when you're old enough to grow up...ayoooooooo...do they hate women and their brains so much?? LOL Don't think I will like this drama...can't help but feel the misogyny too strongly this time.

JK is such a jerk, a great example of a bad husband. I really feel for his wife.
Couldn't stand that adulterous bastard. Honestly I ended up skipping all his scenes. lol

This drama is one of my favorites. I like Gu Man's writing style, she never dwells in cliché tension and drama, simple stories focused on feelings rather than events, so more touching I find.
The reasons I love this drama more than others:
- the characters behave different (less complicated, more realistic) than usual in dramas,
- that strong melancholy and longing feeling throughout the whole story, I rarely see this in dramas
- the pace, it's fast sometimes and slow when necessary
- you feel some kind of intensity in the feelings displayed (anger, pain, love, longing, confusion, fear, helplessness, etc.)
-the visuals are beautiful
- their younger version are awesome!
- the love between the main couple is undefeatable, they simply never waver no matter what happens (lol) and that is kinda rare in dramaland so it's refreshing.

It's a sad and beautiful love story at the same time, with a sweet ending. :)

I don't find He Yi Sheng perfect at all though, he's so cold and closed off. But he's the best for Xiao Mo Sheng, he really represents for ''unwavering'' lovers in a drama world where being ''wishy washy" in love triangles is almost a rule lol.

I'm so disappointed in Hwi Kyung. He can go kill himself. NY is better without anybody from this crazy family!

This drama is so confusing. I'm already ep 10 and still don't quite understand what's going on. And Ooooh the love lines...Ooooooooohhhh they're even more confusing. Don't know who the hell really likes whom, it seems all of them like each other at the same time @_@ .
What a mess! But I love Chen Zai Tian he's hilarious!

Basically a drama glorifying cheating and third party interference. A woman decides she wants to break up a marriage to have the man, she succeeds. Then the "bad person" becomes the cheated wife, her husband should not be called a cheater and home-wrecker is an admirable and attractive female. @_@ ROFL
I sincerely think any wise and mature mind will see the alarming problem with this plot and some viewers' reactions.
