I totally agree. However, I can't blame her mother for treating her like that. Even though she's strict, I can feel that she loves Shaoshang it's just that as a mother specially in Shaoshang's case, you would really be torn between making your daughter feel all the love she missed or teach her proper discipline that were not properly taught to her as a woman specially since in ancient China it is very important for a daughter to be well behaved in order to be married to a good family and not humiliate them just like what happened to Shaoshang's aunt that was given back to her family because of her bad temper and abusive nature towards her husband. I just wished that Shaoshang's mother didn't compare her with Yangyang and even shown more affection to her compsred to her own daughter. I really felt the pain in that scene. Seeing your own mother being affectionate towards others but strict on me when in fact I am the one in need more of her love. It really hurts when Shaoshang could only watch and trying to maintain a brave front 😢

I stopped reading the novel because I got so busy and thought that it's not as funny as the drama trailer and eventually the drama became available for viewing so I stopped reading it and haven't picked it up yet because I'm afraid I might compare them always and loose interest in either of the two. As of now I'm enjoying the drama and dreadfully waiting for the next episodes.

In the novel, it was not Jin feng's dad who suggested that Yun Zhang will be married to his daughter. It was the Queen (YZ mom) who made the decree because as she look at Jin feng's dad, he is handsome and so his offspring too is handsome. She said his niece Liu Baiyu which is known as his niece is like a daughter to him so she thought that Baiyu will be married to YZ but JF's dad thought that Baiyu is scheming so he said to the Queen does she mean his daughter and so the Queen thought Baiyu is like a daughter to him so in the decree the Queen wrote YZ be married to JF's dad's daughter. And then he tried to find Jin feng whose name is Heipang and then renamed her as Lou Jinfeng and sent her to marry Yun Zhang. In the Palace Jin feng was hated and lots are scheming against her YZ doesn't even want to see her so she tried to see YZ by attending same class as him and the other princes and princesses.
