Title Reborn Rich
I kind of sympathise with the grandfather. All that he is and was (his efforts, sacrifices, time and ambitions) has manifested in the form of Sunyang that he holds dear like his better half or his own child. People like him exists. They are very dedicated and are willing to spend every hour of their life in building something they hold very close to their heart. It's not just a company for him (like it's for us) but the manifestation of every thought and struggle in his mind and body throughout his whole life. He has to choose between his life's manifestation and his children which is very hard for him and appears ruthless in the process of protecting his life's work. All I know is that when people have less time, they tend to secure a future or make sure that what they hold dear is kept safe after they aren't around and it's Sunyang for JYC.
I don't blame him for prioritising. He is not like normal people and I kind of understand.
LSM is one hell of an actor. I don't think I've every seen a more nuanced performance in a Kdrama in character frame like his. Splendid.

I think the son who was involved in the accident that they mentioned in episode 1 is the original JDJ or maybe it a time loop and everything is set in stones (like the death of his mother) and his reborn self was the one involved in the accident all along. He can't remember anything about the original JDJ from his own future which leads me to tilt more towards the theory that the accident will happen nonetheless but ofcourse the mystery is if he actually will be able to solve it which remains to be seen.

There's this unfulfilled wish of mine to see a character go through with it all; all the bad and the evil. To see a main character like JDJ (who's reborn, powerful and has abundance of knowledge that provides abundance of opportunities) become what everyone around him is; a cut throat, shrewd and a very profit oriented businessman. I think that'll be an unfulfilled wish of mine for a main character like him. The writer tries to make him the idealistic and morally right character, which was fun but not anymore because he's in an arena of monsters who would stop at nothing to devour him and morality is a prestige he can't afford anymore. It'd more intresting if it was a monter vs a monter.

I just don't understand.
Why are people bothered by the less screen time of the FL here? The reason I started this drama its compelling storyline and the actors (especially LSM). Now the story is MAINLY about revenge, business and politics. The FL is still a student and if there's anything that can incorporate her into all these bigger than life struggles of the elite; it's ability and status which she doesn't have at the moment. I'm very happy with not wasting time on unnecessary romance right now. Her time will come and they (the ML and FL) will work together probably. Then if there need be for them to be romanticly involved, it would feel more organic and will not affect the overall theme and quality of the show.
This show is mainly about JDJ and JYC and it's very well written till now.
On Lighter & Princess Nov 26, 2022
I think people are too much focused on the ML being a shut off and single mindedly focused on his work rather than why he is that way. We got a whole arc about the explanation of his characterization and further dived into it after the first half of the show. Otherwise this story (if it was only about romance) would have been finished in 20 episodes. I think romantic stories shine the most when there're hurdles in between. Some partners fight for themselves and some some just let time magically fix everything but that's not the case here. I think ZY is fighting for their relationship not just because of her but also because of him. She knows him too well and is aware that he needs her in his bleak life. I think ZY is the hero (whe saves) of this story and LX is the depressed character who needs someone to give him some shine in the bleak of his tragedies.

That scene in ep 4 when JYC finds out that his second son betrayed the family for power was phenomenal. You could see the contradictory emotions on his face. The sorrow, anger and at the same time trying to console himself in the idea that this is how real business is conducted in the greedy and monstrous society. He was contented with the cold and unforgivable betrayal of his son because that how a businessman should be according to him but I think he was very dejected at the fact that his son chose power over them too.
Sir Lee Sung Min is a brilliant actor. I haven't see many actors of that calibre who could portray a character like JYC with so much conviction and faithfulness.

And the chemistry between the grandfather and grandson is more majestic and glorious than anything romance could ever reach.

Brilliantly acted, very well shot and cleverly directed.
The only problem with this is the romance between the ML and FL. It doesn't make sense or should I say the romance between them and the second leads (both 2nd FML and ML) works much more considering the theme of the drama. The feelings we are meant to go through with the FL's romantic relationships just doesn't make a lot of sense. It's like she changes her mind left and right. As an audience, I can't savour the flavour of her either relationships. It just changes too suddenly and without any effort put into the course of preparing it. If they wanted to have something profound then they should chosen 1 relationship and kept focusing on it throughout or lengthen the drama itself to explain both properly.
At this moment, I am more interested in the relationship of the ML with the second FL. That makes sense to me unlike the main one.

I'm glad the drama is somewhat different from the novel. The novel's Do Jun's personality disgusts me.
Well, in the novel he's far more realistic.
He's an antihero of sorts.
The life he had lead and then being killed by blood thirsty monsters just to find yourself surrounded by them will push any one to the extreme. He's more hopeful here for sure but the novel was far more raw and real. Like someone above said that the manhwas's one was smarter but the novel's one was both smarter and brutal.
They are completely different characters, as far as we've seen.

I see you don't really interact with other people. For someone to move on, they need closure, a break up. Where…
That was funny...
Anyway, the thing is closure or putting an end to something always requires someone to put in an effort even if it hurts. I don't know if it's realistic for someone to fail in getting closure for a relationship that never even existed in the time he was stuck on it. I won't disagree that I don't interact with a lot of people but the ones I have interacted with, who happened to be in a relationship, seemed far more healthy and longlasting that whatever this is. The trajectory of the ML's character arc is unrealistic and that won't change even if I do interact with as many people as you. I am far more surprised with fact that you seemed to take all this seriously after the notion that you are more experienced.
Falling in love with a best friend and carrying that on for the time he has is unrealistic.
Not taking any relationship seriously except his imaginary romance is unrealistic and unhealthy.
Not even being open to the idea of building something with someone else is unrealistic and tiring.
Acting like a teenager at that age in unrealistic and childish.
I thought grownups like you would have understood the simple notion that some times feelings are not reciprocated but life carries on. I thought a 21 years old like me would be more open to unrealistic romanticism.
But neither is the case so carry on with your opinion and I will keep mine.
On Love Is for Suckers Nov 23, 2022
F*ck! This is a bloody mess.
Like can kdramas grasp the concept of the probability that people (especially people like the ML) can move on. If you're going to write a realistic story line for the FL but then dump all that and make the ML the stuck-for-life on his feelings for his friend is kind of boring and frankly bad writing.
People move on and this dude has been stuck for decades. Like where the hell is the realism in that? I can grasp all this if the were some teenagers but people learn more and the people that attract them comes along in life. His whole turn to be a guy who clearly wanted to move on and then to ignore all that at the first sentence of the FL kind speaks ill to his character. WTF does the guy truly believe in or stand for? Nothing except the fact that he wants to be with the overly boring FL.
People saying that this is realistic kind of need to get a grip on reality. Sure it's realistic from the FL's POV (she's hurt, betrayed blah blah) but from the ML's POV, it's utterly nonsensical. The guy needs to set his priorities straight and for once should try to live beyond the scope and influence of the person he has loved for DECADES (that's the most unrealistic part for me, like decades!). That's not realistic or relevant from a male's prespective.
But the again, this show has a target audience and I shouldn't have watched hoping for something different than the overly saturated and repeated fiasco in kdrama land.

No, just no.
Why the hell did it become a romance genre? I was okay with the "slight romance" tag but to change the theme of the original work for the overly saturated concept and necessity of having "romance" in every god dammed show is tiring and frankly lowers my hopes about its quality. It certainly is going to have an impact on the story line and I hope it elevates it but the story already was intresting enough and didn't need romance at all. I hate to be pessimistic but they should have focused on the political, revenge and business aspect more rather than unnecessary romance.

the thing is he is not very well qualified now, he has not graduated + not updated his knowledges for 3 years,…
I know very little about that industry but narrative we're presented with here is that he's very well qualified but is discriminated against because of his criminal history. That's the main reason why his jail friend tried to persuade him to leave the country and work in a foreign company or start their own.
On Lighter & Princess Nov 22, 2022
The FL is one of my favourite in the romance genre. That's what everyone should aspire to be. She's capable, confident, loyal and knows what she wants. She sees the best in people which is a great quality to have but at the same time can be demerit. She's willing to fall but never shut herself off because of fear.
That's a strong female lead for me; has great characteristics but some flaws too.
On Lighter & Princess Nov 22, 2022
I think the focus now should be more upon the character work than the romantic relationship. Is the ML acting like a douche and is pushing the FL (rather than the very popular narrative of treating her like before and above everything going on in his life) for a reason? Yes. I think that's how it plays out in real life too.
Okay, so he just got out of jail and is living a very messed up life. He can't even find a good place to live in because he has been in jail. He can't work for a good company despite being very well qualified. Now with these situations at hand, what is expected of him (to be nice and accept the FL) is very unlike real life. He can't take care of a person he loves and that hurts him more than anything. He knows what he's and what he must be. He's pushing her away because he knows she desreves better than what he can offer at the moment. I think that's very understandable. If I were in his shoes i would do the same. I can't pull down people I love and he can't too. He would rather have her live a fulfilling life even at the cost of losing her. That's understandable and to me even admirable.

Okay, I think that the focus should be more on the matter of whether PCH will get out of this and remain the PCH of before rather than whether he's related to BM in some way. He has decided to play the already established game and the rules are based on some pretty evil foundations. In order to win it, he has to let go of the PCH of before and that includes the people around him (his wife especially). The writer is still holding back to make him a fully functioning grey character who is forced to do anything possible to get out of there. What if he really killed one of the VIPs? Would that bring him to the point of no return? IMO, No. The horror and unjust tends to bring people to change and oftentimes it's to the side of necessary evil.
Breaking Bad and The Godfather like cinema is the pinnacle of anything I have ever seen when it comes to moulding of a person by situations and people. I would very much like it if the MC here becomes something like that. He's playing someone very "evil" and I would be surprised (not in a good way) if he gets away with it without having to do the "necessary evil" and not changing in the process.

Wow!
This is the drama to watch. The writer is my favourite since she made me realise that the romance genre can be just as compelling and intresting as any other through her work in "It's okay, that's love " (one of my favourite healing and romantic stories ever).

I seem to be minority but I really am not in the favor of the whole SA and DS dynamic. I empathise very much with the both of them but I can't help but see that their dynamic would lead to nothing productive or pleasant for the both of them. Clinical Depression (which is implied here but I'm not so sure that's the only case with her) is a very nasty and destructive condition. It ruins not only one life but everyone around the person. I know it's "romantic" to see DS stand with her but I have seen that dynamic ruin both sides to the point of no return. Safer ways are there to deal properly with her condition and his feelings. It's not his place or duty to be there for her as more than a friend. She needs serious pharmacotheraphy and psychotherapy and not a romantic relationship. He needs serious healing and self discovery and not a serious risk of his life being ruined than it already is.

I'm also glad that the kid was priotized in this situation. SA loves her kid but she isn't mentally stable enough to care for the kid. He needs a proper growth period and love from his parents.
