Why is Vincenzo in the recommendations? Those are both different even from the first episode. Does every drama having a HANDSOME ML with a law degree includes it being somehow the same as Vincenzo?
Replying to Imoogi Jul 10, 2021
after two episodes I still have no idea what is going on, the acting is great and the production seems promising…
As far as we have watched, the fight for justice does affect them personally especially KYH. His whole existence relates and depends on his motivations to fight for justice in his own convulated way. Family, friends or a partner isn't the only thing a person can relate and label as 'personal', sometimes a person whole life and the meaning of it depends on what he's trying to achieve. KYH is that person whose world revolves around his motivations and work (we have seen only glimpses of why that is so) and it has a huge effect on his life (if not his whole meaning of life). I don't think it takes away anything from the depth of his character or the fear of failure and consequences. He's kind of like soldier; someone whose only mission is to achieve something at the expense of everything he is, whether it be power, justice, revenge or something else for KYH is still to be explained.
I agree with 2nd ML part. He's annoying and unnecessary so far but i think his character is set up for development based on his time with KYH. KYH somehow knows him or someone related to him, so it will include stakes for the 2nd ML at some point both personally and professionally.

I think the priest part was interesting. We have this vision of priest all being forgiving and understandings but it's nice to see the show challenge that view. The priest is judgemental without understanding, reactive without reasoning and self absorbed with a one way narrative. Those maybe the breads of fear of something different (KYH being a different type of kid), inability to understand a situation without involving personal ideals or simply his true character or lack of character.

It has flaws and i hope they explain things from this point on. It's slow paced and I'm afraid it'll turn into another Vincenzo where it's just fillers mixed with illogical "run and chase" type of plot.

lol priest story was such bs. kid was being bullied by everyone so he created a divided them (by putting stuff…
Well it is bullshit but it makes you think what "devil" is to different people. Definitively it refers to supreme embodiment of evil but evil is relativistic to different people.
Sometimes, being smart and reactive to situations with a laid plan, maybe enough for people to label someone as evil. The priest was afraid or even annoyed by how KYH carried out his plan to protect himself because it wasn't normal. The 'normal' would have been to cry, stay hidden or complain for kids but KYH wasn't the normal kid. Being different allows or motivates people to view someone through different lenses. The view maybe pleasant and fascinating to some but evil and uncomfortable to others. The priest being of the view of "what's normal is acceptable". He doesn't bother to view it as a situation to understand but a situation to judge based on his perception of normality and evil.

many dramas of this year doesn't have romance as its man theme. A very good example would be Vincenzo.
Well yes, there were shows not having romance as its main theme but they were very few (in comparison to romantic shows) and even fewer amongst them were actually good. Vincenzo didn't do it for me.

A big slap to the some people who says kpop idols can't act. Jin young has proved it before also and seeing him…
Most of them can't really act but Jin Young alikes are very few and exceptions.

Can we not burden this show with the weight of realism? This is the story of fictional characters set up in a fictional universe. The rules and conditions of what's realistic and what's not is completely upto the writer as long as he's consistent with the plot and characterizations of his characters. KYH is realistic within the rules and understandings of the writer's universe. So far, the writer has done a good job of explaining the peripheries of his characters and their motivations.
It's a breath of fresh air to see a show that doesn't have 'romance' as its main theme. It's introductory, new and mindful in its own merit.

It really is a shame on writers that they always have to put a young ambitious individual with the hidden malice…
Well it's realistic and understandable to have the ambitious and righteous young KGO trying to 'correct' the ways of our antihero ML. KGO knows less and is strong believer in the law and its potential to be fair but KYH is someone who sees things the way they are; corruption and potential of people to do bad things in order to gain and achieve. He's been taught (by life and experience) that it would only make sense to practice justice by being evil and forceful, not lawful and truthful all the time in that time and society. They have different views of justice and fairness but their views are completely coherent with their characters.

Wow, just wow.
This guy can act the shit out of any character he comes across. His dramas, except a few, may not be that good but his acting is flawless in every one of them. I'm just so mesmerised by his talent as an actor. Definitely one of the best.

I partly agree. I don't think anyone doubts KSH's acting ability after watching this drama. He was really good…
Oh did my comment come off as taking something from OJS performance? It was not my intention. I absolutely loved OJS in the show and i do believe his character was one of the reasons i value the drama more than a typical kdrama. My comment was only directed at KSH being underrated as MGT as his character didn't have the shine his pairs had.

Oh i understand that. The sexual assault was perfectly coherent with what the characterization of the character was. I would put it in too, if i were the writer, to explain what the character is. What i had a problem with was how they depicted it (as a joke) and how it was recieved. I mean reverse the roles and people would absolutely smash the ML for doing it even if he had ASPD. I just stated that because i wanted to recognise that as it is; a sexual assault and not a joke with no judgement or consequences (morally or otherwise).

It was funny. One of the best funny thing in this drama. :-DPlease, I want a woman like this assault me and come…
What! No winking isn't sexual assault neither is seduction but the act itself (in the show) was.

And what's wrong with having a moral judgement, based on explained and understandable values, about fictional characters? I mean, isn't it why we watch a whole story about characters we know are fictional, to understand and evaluate their characters? In order to understand or evaluate something, you have to risk being judgemental and critical; judgement and criticism based on moral or personal values.

Do people really not understand why KHN is boring and why people are siding with KDG?
I don't understand the hate but i do understand the dislike. She is not a likeable character, not because she's doing her job (which lines against what KDG is trying to accomplish) but because the plot made us resent the law enforcement agencies in the show. I mean every single case involved a terrible failure from the law enforcers to uphold justice or even protect people but on the other side KDG is doing what we all wanted; justice and revenge for the opressed. Now I'm not saying that vigilantism or private justice is something our world should aspire to but it is necessary in a world full of horrors from the cruel and failures of the protectors. KDG is doing the right thing in the lawfully wrong way but we were led to not believe in the law but KDG. So him doing the unlawful doesn't at all affect our view of him but it does make us not like a character (KHN) who is someone constantly failing at her job but is against what the writer made us believe in; KDG.
There's no logic to upprint your real values onto what KDG is doing and values only matters when it comes from a place of understandings or relatablility not judgement based on nothing more than a set of rules (law) which failed the people and everything it's supposed to stand for in, in the show. Place yourself in the shoes of "Kang Maria" who was raped and beaten by people and the law failed at protecting her (even served the cruel in their conquest to be opressers and benefitting from it), place yourself in the shoes of "Park Jung Min" where your only fault isn't even yours but your situations and where you're being bullied by people more powerful. There's no lawfully or societal wrongs against the cruel and lawless if it's for the purpose of protecting and compensating (somehow) the wrongfully opressed innocents. It's easy to pass on judgements onto KDG (only because he is unlawful even when he's doing everything right) but it requires understanding of the "Why" and "What" of his work and motivations.
I am not against the law or its upholders but what i am against is the acceptance of it even when it fails and encourage crimes against innocent people. We need real KDGs in the real world (maybe not the vigilante who beats up people to uphold justice) where rules aren't just accepted for the convenience of the powerful against the struggles of the powerless. We need people who believes in right thing more than rules (law, society) and who are willing to fight and be beaten for it.

P.S: KHN is doing nothing wrong because that's her job (even if she fails at it so frequently) but her character doesn't serve much importance in the story or have the traits to create relatablility or any other emotion. I hope we get to learn more about her or see a character reveal or development.

The main reason i did not enjoy this, as much as i thought i would, is the fact that they turned it into a romantic mess when it could have been so much more than that.

This is overrated but then again, i watched the first 2 episodes properly. I watched 'Stranger' before this, so maybe that affected my view of it too.
The romance was unnecessary and clearly just a filler to have a ML be a classic plot device for the FL to not be too unlikeable (which she still is). I don't mind unlikeable traits for a character but i do care about how that affect what we are led to believe about them throughout the show. This show did not owe up to the characterization it set up for it's characters (since i watched scenes from here and there up to the finale) and in the end becomes another tiring effort to make them human enough for us to root for them without any prior explanation or development. The ML (who's shown as an ace in his field) is walked upon by the FL in an effect that contradicts what we were led to believe about his character. Now before people call me a salty male who cannot handle a loss of the ML at the hands of FL, i would like to say that i absolutely don't mind a smart person (the FL here) outsmart a person less intelligent (the ML here). My problem was their pre-explained trait (that he is at the top of his craft) about the character of the ML didn't match to the effect of him losing at it, that badly and frequently. It is a trope used frequently for lazy writing where the writer has to lessen the intelligence or capability of one character (which was previously set up as much more capable) to showcase the ability and set up the story's MC. 'Stranger' season 1, on the other hand, succeeded at setting up it's characters without trampling on their characterization.
Anyway that's how i felt about it by watching the first two episodes and then skipping through it upto the finale. Maybe i will watch it some other time (which is why i won't rate it) and maybe i will have a change in opinion.

Criticising someone is one thing but boycotting an artist based on a mistake (that happened 3 years ago) is completely nonsensical and unfair. Neglecting the fact that their privacy was breached by people, her mistake was not something to ruin her career over. She is an artist and her responsibility is to remain true to her art and she has no obligation to explain something personal or apologize to us.

Well it is up to you to decide what is funny but that does not change the fact that it was sexual assault even if you found the depiction of it funny.
