On It's Okay to Not Be Okay May 11, 2021
Okay so i feel like i am the only one who thought that KSH was amazing here. Everyone is talking about OJS portrayal of the character and he does deserve the praise but KSH performance is underrated just because he played a character more along the line of what's normal. OJS and SYJ played characters that were at the extreme spectrums of society or normality. That is a strong tool in conveying strong emotions and expressions that would allow the actor to be more the focus of attention and praise. KSH on the other hand portrayed a character that was more in the spectrum of mean normality which already puts him at a disadvantage, compared to other two main characters, to showcase something more attention worthy. That i think is a harder job for an actor to be as good as he was when put between the other two characters who were allowed to explore a wider range of emotions and expressions compared to KSH. He managed to act the subtilty and, at times, emotionality of his character through to perfection.
I think portrayal of a character, that is not at the spectrum of emotional or psychological extremes as his peers (SYJ and OJS), to the extent that KSH did is something praiseworthy and exceptional. He deserves the nominations and wins.

P.S: The sexual assault and the non bothering attitude it was received by the viewers and the story is concerning. That was neither funny nor an act that should be portrayed like it was. It was sexual assault and the FL was a sexual offender.

The drama truely failed to grab my attention in the second part. It was fun in the beginning, but then it got…
Most certainly. The sexual assault was literally perceived as a joke when it was absolutely not. It just shows as to how society views the same act through completely different lenses just because it was a woman sexually assaulting a man. The double standards and lack of judgement is concerning.

Why the hell would someone rate the ML in "True Beauty" as the worst male lead?
I'm not a fan of romantic dramas usually and i rushed through true beauty too (by skipping and 2× speed) but to say SH was toxic is pretty much slandering just because people like 2nd ML more.
SH was multidimensional character who had problems, too heavy for a teenager, but he stood through it with JK while always being a boyfriend JK needed. Their relationship was the epitome of a healthy and longlasting connection between two demaged souls who came to heal each other.
HSJ on the other hand wasn't a character that presented much to me as a person in the first 10-12 episodes but he managed to get my attention. He was a great person and deserved happiness but i never thought it was with JK just because SH and JK had a more meaningful and beautiful relationship. I would always tilt towards a love who the FL chose and went through so much with the person against a love that 2nd ML had for the FL even when she always was pretty clear about whom she truly loved. Love isn't about how much a person can do for you only but also about how much you can love and do for a person. JK and SH pretty much held each other while facing the world. A world where SH had PTSD, panic attacks, familial mess and being alone. A world where JK had to live with insecurities, lack of self esteem and fear of showing the real her to someone. A world where the two came together and held each other through the storm.
I don't know how the ML here is deemed toxic but the one reason that seems plausible is that people are just showing their frustration just because they themselves were more attracted towards the 2nd ML and that they actually didn't analyse the ML's character or his relationship with the FL.
I didn't like "True Beauty" that much but the one thing the drama got right was the main character's relationship.
I'm just blabbering at this point but i don't understand why people would consider SH toxic when he was the most demaged and so caring toward JK. His character presented so much in the context of realistic portrayal of real life issues.

Title Taxi Driver
This drama is more like Stranger (2017) or more like Vicenzo ?
It is its own story and characters but i would tilt towards "stranger" if i have to categories it with the two for similarities in themes and story. It's better than Vincenzo (i didn't like that very much) and have a completely different storyline and characters.
The ML in "Taxi Driver" is a vigilante that stands for everything justice demands and accomplish. His motivations and story are a treat to watch. He doesn't let the rules stop him in doing what is right.
The plot is composed of different cases that involves different victims while the main plot runs along with it coherently.
Just watch the first 3-4 episodes and you'll get the idea of what the writer is trying to say.

So this is going so good so far and i hope it continues being interesting till the end.
Now, the character, Kang Ha Na (KHN) is actually not doing the wrong thing here but from narrative of the story's motive and purpose (vigilante justice for victims that needs it because the law fails to do so), the viewers always will root for KDG to win and will side with him against anyone (in this case KHN). I think that's what the writer is aiming for too, not every person (KDG) is wrong for taking matters into their own hand and not everyone is right for doing what society deems correct (KHN), to allow people to observe not only the evil people are committing but also the failure of establishment and law to protect the victims. Now that's a very relatable motive for us to root for KDG and be against KHN even when she's doing nothing wrong because he stands for the people (people like us). Every case we have seen KDG solve so far is a case that the establishment and various institutions (police, prosecution etc) failed to solve or simply ignored for their convenience. That already created observations(which is BTW realistic to some point) for us to form an extremely positive opnion about KDG and what he stands for against a really negative one about the establishment (that KHN stands for) for their failure and negligence.
My point being, KDG represents our inner voice against corruption and evil while KHN is a part of the system that has failed to do what it is supposed to do. Ofcourse viewers will side with KDG for doing the right thing even if the law is against it. People will always choose justice against a set of rules (law) that are failing at what they were supposed to accomplish, justice for the people.
KDG represents a lot more than KHN, as a character and as an idea, to people. I think it was predetermined that people will side with KDG while being against KHN even when she is doing nothing wrong.

Person Song Kang
is love alarm worth watching? i really liked him in navillera and sweet home but i dont usually like cheesy romance
Don't. The drama honestly has nothing to address or depict. It's just a mindless love triangle with annoyingly one dimensional characters that are just so badly written. Song Kang honestly doesn't impress there either like he did in SH or Navillera. He is a really good actor but he was just wasted there and his character there is just a plot device with no storyline or understandable closure.

Why is criticism towards an actor considered 'hate' here? Criticism is being logical while questioning or objecting towards an issue, which is an actor's acting here. Lee Hye Ri isn't someone i consider a good actress because i have watched most of her dramas (i couldn't finish them though) and i didn't like her portrayal of certain characters except in Reply 1988. I can provide number of reasons as to why it is as it is but plenty of what i felt was explained by people in a very constructive way in the respective comment sections of her shows. It is not hate when i have a problem with her acting (for very good reasons) while i am being reasonable about it. I have no problem with people liking her as an actress and i certainly won't stop anyone from stating so but i expect to be not labelled as a 'hater' just because i happen to have criticism regarding her acting. It is important to be critical as it is important to appreciative. Why is one explanation considered okay while the other labelled as unjustifiable hate statement?

The audacity to called out the writer who always do 20eps in his recent past drama and said he is force to make…
Well i watched "Fiery Priest" and it was so good especially the last episodes were the highlight. Sure i felt at times that it was slow paced but it never was to the point where it seemed like a fulfilment (which is something i felt in Vincenzo) rather than storytelling.
About the writer, i presumed that based on why a good writer would turn a good piece of storytelling and interesting characters into something mediocre (atleast for me) especially when he knows how to handle a 20 episodes screen writing from his previous works. "Fiery Priest" did it far better than Vincenzo.
If that's me being audacious, then let me be. I'm absolutely fine with you enjoying the show or being happy with the writer's work here.
On Vincenzo May 1, 2021
Title Vincenzo
That's what a good show will become if the writer force it to be as long as it should never be. Dragging an already explained plot and characters will only devalue the content and purpose of a show. The writer clearly ran out of plot and character materials and just for the purpose of presenting a 20-25 hours show, his characters are bound to be inconsistent with their already presented characterization for the purposes of elogating an already dragged plot.
The last 3-4 episodes just showcased when a good show becomes mediocre at best.
Vincenzo acting up to save CY while a clear and better alternative presented itself is just out of character for VC. He should know how to handle a situation like that and what to do at a specific time. JHS was clearly down and all he had to do was keep him on the ground or take away his gun. That's not just for HanSoe's sake but a clearly better way to save CY. What was he hoping for? To bet on HanSoe to hold JHS while he has the time to beat JHS's thugs and reach safety with CY! That is clearly what a person like VC is most unlikely to do. I mean, JHS was on the ground already! VC is known to be in control and sensibly (he didn't he lose his shit when his mother was murdered! That was impressive to see him knowing that emotions are unlikely to solve what he must. Then when he accomplished what he was supposed to and then him breaking down was just a treat to watch. He is trained and capable but he is still a human who can show emotions on the death bed of his mother) but here the writer just wanted to fulfill the 20 episodes contract he was required to meet at the expense of his main character's characterization.
That's just the start of inconsistencies and painfully slow depiction of plot in this drama. The unnecessary slow motions, nonsensical character reveals, literally useless plot points (the half episode 18 of him preparing to go to Italy and then just solving it with money served absolutely no point, plot or character wise), rambling of characters for the purpose of comedy that isn't even funny anymore, deviating from the main plot in order to do nothing that has purpose plot or character wise and literally not even trying to make it interesting anymore, are all things that could have been avoided if they made it a 16 hours show.
Anyway, that's what i think. I can't believe I'm saying this but this show was my absolute favourite up until episodes 10-12 (despite the slow first 4 episodes because those were slow plot wise but they had many character details) and then abruptly turned into a normal one where i am just watching it for the purpose of getting closures for the characters.
P.S: These are things i felt about the show and it's good to see other people are still enjoying it.
On The Long Ballad May 1, 2021
Is it worth watching or is it another "love and redemption" type where it is just over rated for being too slow and nonsensical romance and stupid characters (FL)?
All i want is a drama where it actually respects the intelligence of its viewers and not just fill up every flaw by depicting a ML with martyr syndrome and a literal stupid FL where everyone just manipulates her (with little to no effort). Is it too much to ask for a realistic ML that cares about himself as much as he does about the FL and is it too much to write a FL character who's actually smart (not actually stupid presented as smart), someone who cares for the ML as much as he does? I don't need romance in a show to like it but i need a show that has romance to actually pull if off honestly and not just go batshit crazy with it.
I don't mind misunderstandings or disagreements between the main characters as long as it makes sense and isn't just a plot device to elongate an already dragged plotline. A smart ML who actually values himself and the FL, a smart FL who knows how to use her freaking brain and actually values the ML as a person is all i ask for.
I'm just rambling at this point but i have a very good reason for it. Recently i can't find a decent cdrama with complex plotlines or characters that actually makes sense and not destroy my brain cells to explode from the stupidity portrayed. Please help me if this is it or if there's another show which have what i am looking for.

There's a trend to have a jerk ML for a real nice FL in lakrons but this drama changed the roles. While it's refreshing to see a FL that's by every means a jerk and terrible person, the writers never let her win us back like other jerk male leads from dramas. Every other drama with a crappy ML has development to the point where you literally are cheering for him in the middle episodes but the situation with this drama is it never really puts an effort to make us root for the FL. She's just a terrible person throughout especially when you see the painfully selfless and nice ML. He is just too much of a pushover and just gives in within any REASON at all. There's a quote something along the line of the fact that it's better to respected in a relationship than loved. Respect is something everyone's desreves while love is something everyone wants. If someone doesn't get what he/she desreves (respect) from a spouse, there's no point in looking for the "want" (love) in that relationship. The FL here is exactly someone the ML should stay away from and she never really earns his forgiveness or our favor as viewers. She's just a crappy and selfish person but our ML is written to love her unconditional even when basic sense of understandings says otherwise. Nice FLs in other lakrons actually learns to stand up for themselves at some point in the drama and MLs have to put in efforts to earn the FLs affections and our favor as viewers but our FL here doesn't do any of that.

i mean, what i’m going to say might sound bitchy and selfish but like, it’s in my perspective so I don’t…
You just explained why someone would give in, when in her shoes. I never had a problem understanding that. It is simple actually.
What i detest is her choosing to betray, lie and hurt people and understanding her selfish stimulants is not really a reason to justify her. She is a horrible and disgusting person. Choosing to hurt others is never okay.
Behind every evil, there is temptation, greed, selfishness and simply everything bad by human understandings. While i understand why someone would choose to do evil, it never changes the fact that it is evil nonetheless and evil is quite off putting to people, by moral and logical values, including me.
Your explaination hardly touches upon what i initially objected to; her moral and humanly values or understandings.
P.S: even if put myself in her shoes, i would detest myself for doing the wrong thing. I would never choose to do it in the first place.

I just don't understand people. When the ML is the most caring and sensible guy in the whole drama why the hell would they ship the FL with SML who childish, throws tantrums when he's upset and doesn't have the character to see the FL be really happy with the ML. I mean, he was so toxic in his approach to attract her attention. Sure he has character development but that in no way should enable him to get the FL when we fortunately had someone like the ML, who's so much better, to be with her. I don't understand the statement that the main couple didn't have any chemistry when i saw and felt it. Sure it's more laid back and realistic but it's so heart warming when you see two people in love having a very healthy and supportive relationship.

There is a love triangle which reminded me of While You Were Sleeping: the FL was much better off with SML but…
What! No!
If you take out the main couple from "while you were sleeping", the journey of the main characters means nothing at the end. The ML and FL always were people who went through things together and that was an absolute treat to watch. An epitome of a healthy relationship with two very likeable main characters, i dont know why anyone would break all that for a nonsensical endings of FL ending with SML even when the ML had more chemistry and had so much more to offer as a character. I mean sure i felt very bad for SML but even he saw that he didn't have a chance and didn't want to be someone to ruin their health relationship.

As for this drama, the SML is an asshole most of the show. His childish and unfair behaviour towards the FL is toxic and unbearable. The ML was a caring and smart person who knew how to treat a lady. I don't know why you shipped the SML with the FL when there's someone so much better (ML).
