I already got spoiled early on in the series because when I was googling this drama a wiki page about Jeongjo of Joseon was one of the result and I end up reading everything. First time I got spoiled by wikipedia 😩 But I thought this drama will just end when Deok Im becomes a royal consort. I didnt expect them to cover everything even the death of their children 😭 Really sad that none of their children survived. Now I need to watch something happy to fill up the void.

I would normally pass on dramas like these because based on the synopsis alone, it's clearly obvious this is a soap opera for middle-aged women, and I am not middle-aged nor a woman. I watched this because I was looking for a drama to watch with my mom. This and "mother" were definitely shows she'd loved.

After finishing the drama, it was definitely the melodrama that I expected with all the exaggerated characters and all. That said, it's not actually bad. While the premise is somewhat similar to another kdrama which I cant remember the title of, the plot is something I personally havent seen yet. What I dont like is that the characters are sometimes dumb down to stop the plot from progressing too fast and to frustrate the viewers which is very typical in melodramas. Overall my mom very much enjoyed it as I've expected. I'd personally give this a 7.5/10 which is a positive score coming from me. The drama had many flaws but it was interesting enough that I wasnt bored and was actually looking forward to what's gonna happen on the next episode.

Seeing the comments here, Im glad I dropped this before it got worse. I had a feeling this was going downhill when they introduced another love rival.

I havent been invested in a kdrama in a while. Perfect balance of romance, comedy, drama and slice of life. This drama is so easy to like; I can recommend this to anyone. "My girlfriend is a gumiho" is one of my gateway to kdrama but this is by far Shin Min Ah's best drama now. Also Kim Seon Ho did a really good job portraying Chief Hong's character. The have so much chemistry together. The saddest thing is that I have nothing to look forward to on weekends anymore.

It was already wrapped up nicely. A 2nd season isnt necessary. But and epilogue would be nice.

It's coming to an end so less comedy and they have the crank up the melodrama to prepare for the climax. This is typical in asian dramas, this is usually the most frustrating part but kinda necessary lol.

It would not be 20 episodes if it's the former

I love how the FL is flawed but not to the point of being unlikeable. She really is a hedgehog, thorny on the outside but soft on the inside. I love slice-of-life romcoms like this it's very easy to get into. I was only planning to watch the 1st ep to see what's the drama is about but now Im all caught up.

I feel like the FL's bestfriend fits more as the ML's ex-fiance if she wasnt casts as the bestie. FL is too beautiful to even consider
the ex-fiancé as a rival tbh.

I do know what incel means lol, no need to be weirdly defensive because of a fictional character. It's been 5 years already, I already forgot some details in the story. I just remember he was not exactly against the idea of a girlfriend and if my memory serves me right, he never said he was against having a relationship with a woman so I dont know if that still makes him "pro-bachelor".

But i guess incel is a pretty extreme word to describe him, pro-bachelor does sound nicer lol

That's interesting to know. I was only suspicious of him in ep 1, not because of his role in the story, just because I refuse to believe they would just give Tacyeon a minor role lol. I only found out about this drama a few days ago. I'm not really updated in kdrama news.

You're just overthinking. Like what I said earlier, he's not trying to hide from them. He isnt exactly keeping a low profile in korea. He sent them a warning with exploding car basically saying "Dont mess with me again because I can kill you anytime". Whether he really can or not, he is confident that he can protect himself. So that's not a plothole. He's just confident with his abilities.

When he said "dont try to find me", it didnt mean he was hiding from them. It was a warning telling them not to mess with him in the future. He literally just told them he was going back to Korea. Why would he say that if he was hiding lol.

Honestly I've already expected Taecyon is the big villain in the story using the process of deduction. Mystery person in drama is usually a character already introduced and someone who is the last to be suspected. Quite ironic because the more a character seems innocent, the higher the chance he's the bad guy (in mysteries at least, writers loves this trope). But maybe I would have figured it out much earlier if I had just bothered checking the characters here in Mydramalist, because Tacyeon is listed as a main character lolol what an indirect spoiler. Didnt really expect they would reveal the bad guy this early in the story though.
