"Behind Your Smile" is dark in nature (it was based off but slightly changed Japanese drama) but Seo In Guk had one of the best performances I've seen.

That's a great question. "Hotel del Luna", "Behind Your Smile", "It's Okay to Not be Okay", "Go Ahead" and "My Mister" were the dramas I did not even begin to think of a fast forward.
I really want to punch that Deity's girl's face. Finding her really unpleasant.
She has perplexed and annoyed me since the first episode but I finally understand. I found her to be jealous of Doom from the git go and racked my brain to come up with a reason when I had a eureka moment in this episode: Doom's ability includes punishing those with no redeeming qualities or humanity left while she, on the other hand, can only restore them. Kind of like ying and yang who are jealous of the other's ability.
I don't think I have been this emotionally invested in a drama since It's okay to not be okay.

Place your bets how long this relationship will last ...I say a year at most
I was a serious Lee Seung Gi and Yoona shipper because he seemed to absolutely light up when she was close by. I wish any couple well, especially in a fishbowl existence that fame would bring, but I'm also slightly skeptical about the forever and ever aspect. Relationships are tough in normal circumstances. I can't imagine what it's like under the spotlight.
isn't it weird how the deity was encouraging him to "feel" yet she is mad at him now for doing so???
The first four episodes had me struggling to understand and that was because I was expecting another "Goblin" or any of the other supernatural shows. This one seems to be character driven and that can be a very precarious position for the writer to make it interesting and well paced at the same time. I'm personally interested in the deity connections and their love / hate / jealously relationship with one another
The second male leads, Kang Tae Oh and Lee Soo Hyuk are fascinating to watch unravel. Brothers but not friends or is this the case of one brother sacrificing his own feelings to save happiness for the other? Those two are fantastic actors and I kind of wish their story arc could play out parallel with Park Bo Young and Seo In Guk. The precarious human bond versus the love of a human for a deity.
I'm not sure where the story leads but I'm hooked.
I freaking love this drama! Seo In Guk is perfect as the bored, loathful towards humanity deity who simultaneously retains a child-like innocence. Mix in Park Bo Young and the rest of the cast, and I am actually rewinding scenes while viewing an episode. Pure. Magic.
Loved your article. The characters are the best part of this drama with Prince Zhou being the one I had the most interest in. He is written with a selfish, petulant, cunning and moral pen and it's fun to watch him maneuver in both the court and his personal life. Had the script been more fluid, this would have been a must watch. As is, I've enjoyed the actors performance and set designs.
I love this drama after episode 4 and honestly, it took that many episodes for me to understand the pacing, characters and writing. Throw all the supernatural dramas out the window and start fresh because that is exactly what this is: a fresh and nuanced written show about fate and expectations. I'm all in.
