Finally completed this masterpiece and now I am left a little empty. Wow ! What a beautiful drama that came to us like a breath of fresh air in the New year. The leads and the supporting cast were wonderful from beginning to end , the story was very engaging and Bai Lu’s acting is worth a special mention. Her two wedding gowns were just gorgeous and she looked breathtaking in them! She brought the best out of ARP as usual! I am gearing up for a rewatch soon!

It is sad that all the supporting cast had to sacrifice their lives to get rid of the Hidden Lord but I was glad that it was a happy ending for the leads. The actors who played Chong Zhao and Bai Xi/ Fuling were also very good . Especially the actor playing Chong Zhao and Mo Li - he differentiated them well. This one is a solid 9.5 for me

So true- we all react differently to what we want to. I am enjoying the drama as well. I think we w will see the character growth for the leads where they can accept each other . BTW she was hurt very badly after seeing her mom being insulted like that on everything . If you think about the times this is set in it would be very hard to agree to a marriage like that . And this kind of treatment and insulting happens even now in some cultures. So it is very easy to be affected by this

I am not big on men with sweet words either - yuck. Well he saved her but he was part of the problem too a couple of times . Honestly so far I find him annoying. He needs character growth

I did not say he hated them but he was low key insulting them and looking down on them as well. And I really did not appreciate what he did in that kidnapping sequence . We can trivialize everything if we want to but right now he is not yet that desirable ML. Maybe he never will be but some improvement needs to happen. And I don’t see him to be mature enough to handle any humiliation his family will put the FL through. Actually I think it is fine that she did not tell him face to face this point. That showed she actually cared rather than the opposite

Exactly my point. He might have shown her that he is a good man through some of his actions but marriage is a long haul a just being sincere is not enough . She will be belittled in that family for being a widow’s daughter and not being from the same kind of family. Someone like her will never put up with that and no woman with self respect should.

Well his behavior has so far been arrogant, entitled and pompous- don’t find many redeeming qualities in this ML. But may be he will turn in to a new leaf later . Especially after the FL’s rejection. He was too confident that he could ‘own’ her I think. And yes I think he deserved every one of those slaps and insults

This is classic Pride and Preudice equation. He admires her but looks down on her family. He called the women of her family all kinds of things -
Including his sister in law. He was hasty to propose marriage to her knowing how proud she is and that she will not put up with his mom. Also she did not tell him directly because she did not want to create a rift between his mom and him. She is a much better person than him- she cherishes family relationships more. Unlike the ML he is just a selfish rich, entitled brat . He could have stopped his mom from doing those things- it is stupid to say that he was very naive and did not know because he is very shrewd and cunning. Well the story would have been over if these two had accepted each other so early. He definitely needs to understand her better and she needs to see much more than what he is now to accept him.

Love and trust is one thing but suffering his mom’s insults all her life is another. Sometimes those two things are just not enough given how they all looked down on women and their families. He needs to think through a few things . I think his decision to marry her was a little hasty.. but I think the story is about him becoming a better person too.

It was more than that. She did not want her family especially her mom going through that much insult from the Chai family. It was not as simple as taking care of her sisters one mom - she is the kind of person who would have done that even after she got married. But the ML’s mom and aunt were a bit much . They were all looking down on her and her family

Yeah I would not call toxic but all MLs in this drama are misogynist and look down on women. They consider them as objects of desire who need to be obedient to them. Yes the ML admires the FL’s intelligence on the surface. But it also bothers him. That was evident in that kidnapping sequence and what he said there .

Yes I did not appreciate what the ML did in that kidnapping sequence either - and then dismiss it as thought it was nothing.

I am glad Kang Ning Rfised the the marriage . I would not trust thin guy even though she likes him. And his family is just awful. They all act high and mighty- including him. He has also low key looked down on her family

I am not surprised she refused the marriage. That Chai family was saying some awful stuff. If they do that before the wedding , god knows how they will treat her later

Yeah Blossoms in Adversity and Dream of Splendor are similar but way more mature .

Well I really don’t know about that entire kidnapping event in ep 5. I’ did not find that funny at all! I hope the ML stops being this arrogant IDIOT who thinks he is god’s gift to mankind.

Yeah he is quite talented. I am looking forward to all his work
