Yes Scarlett o O’Hara. is a very good example. So is Bridget Jones. All very atypical FLs. They are supposed to intrigue, frustrate and fascinate you. And the thing is they are all highly intelligent women but suck at relationships . And that is what makes them interesting

Well these viewers want a FL who just panders to the ML’s expectations. The fact that she is out of the box and eccentric really turns them off. And yes this is something new- this drama was funny with very interesting characters. It is a very interesting study in psychology as well. And they are all imperfect and that is what makes it enjoyable. I agree with your comments 100%. This drama should be enjoyed for what it is.

He He! Yep absolutely!

A lot of people did not understand the relationship between the leads in L&P. You remember that scene where the prof compares Li Xun to the ‘Mirror of Erised’ from Harry Potter. That is what he really was for Zhu Yun - she found her identity and strength through him otherwise she would have led the life of a puppet - her mom being the puppeteer. That relationship was far from toxic- yeah they went through some really bad stuff but they were there for each other. I found Li Xun’s character to be very pitiable and someone who had gone through so much in life. And he really took care of the people he liked . And everyone tried to help him in the end- if he were toxic or a narcissist- thAt would not have happened. And what support characters are these? - Gao, Xu Lina, Fang or Zhu Yun’s toxic /abusive mother (parents). This drama was about the strong leads and their story - not the side characters. The leads’ relationship was not at all toxic. The FL was a very strong woman who knew what she wanted and went after it. The ML respected her for who she was. This was a power couple on the making. A relationship is not just kisses and roses- and what they went through had so many external factors attached to it- so you cannot blame either of them. I have defended this drama one more time here. It’s one of my all time favorites - the best modern C- drama I have watched . So nuanced and deep!

I really loved this drama. So poignant! Very well made and the leads were wonderful. This drama is not for the faint hearted . None of the characters are good people - they are all black or shades of grey. And that includes the FL

Yes is love enough is the point. The love and caring is very one sided only from LBY’s side.- CSS is too damaged to have that kind of caring and love - it will always be attached to her self preservation and that is the problem . Relationships are about give and take . Thai one will be a difficult one . Now that LBY is doe with his revenge and learnt more about himself as her he will work hard to keep her happy- but will she do the same - I don’t think so . Yes these are two very complex characters . It was a good drama but should we glorify this love story probably not but this story has other aspects that make us think a lot

It’s fine - I just did not like how her character was written . I enjoyed the drama but she just is not my cup of tea.

I honestly don’t know why the writers had her do it. Maybe they wanted to show her brave independent side - but then I felt that it was immature again. It was reckless and she could have died there. The biggest flaw of this drama is that they wanted a 15-21 yr old to be so accomplished but no matter which era it is that is totally impossible and unrealistic . They tried to give her these qualities to balance her overly flawed character and it did not work for me. I don’t think she could have married anyone with the way she was. The ML was flawed yes because of that burden he was carrying but he was more loving and caring than her. He clearly showed that he would take care of whoever he is with. But the revenge would always outweigh everything. To me that is fair- what happened to him should not be trivialized at all- to get out of that kind of trauma and compromise with it and letting it go would be hard. Whoever is with him should be able to under stand his decisions and she was not that person

I understand all that. But I stand by my POV. The FL is a hard pill to swallow. That relationship is doomed even if they got together in the end because there will be something else that will bother her. I did not like the way she went to help out that village either. It’s shortsighted and reckless. She will always be a reckless girl who only cares for herself

This guy is such a good actor. Why is he only in short dramas? He needs a full fledged main lead role in a full length drama. Talented and gorgeous!

Exactly my thoughts. Leo Wu was the only dish that was flavorful dish that was served. The rest was bland. The FL was too young and had minimal character development. There is only so much sweetness you can take .
