This drama was truly a masterpiece. BailLu’s role was so different from any of her other shows and she did a wonderful job bringing Li PeiYi to life! She is such a good actress! My final score for this master piece is somewhere between 9.5 and 10. I am glad that the romance did not overpower the main story - I really loved how they balanced it.

Wow! So the whole thing was their master strategy . It all came together so beautifully in the end. And that post credits scene! So we have a season 2? If so I am waiting for it!

I don’t think she conveyed who Elizabeth Bennet was very well. There was something off about that portrayal. She was not a good fit. Did you watch the BBC version I mentioned? Now that was the Elizabeth Bennett that Jane Austen wrote about. If you have read the unabridged novel then the version you will like is the BBC adaptation. All the characters really matched the books . The attention to detail is just unbelievable.

Yes I do know that you have those misgivings about dramas but there really have been some good ones lately. And affectionate MLs are not a bad thing if they are done right . And the ML here is characterized well.

Kiera Knightly version is the one I hate. She was miscast . My fovorite is BBC series 1995 with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth - it stayed so true to the book and the actors made the characters jump out of the book! It was so good . Anyway- you are right though , the scenario in P&P was so different to the one here .

lol . Not sure if there is a real Darcy comparison here but at that particular moment it did feel like it. But I think this guy is just a plain narcissist who looks down on Fang Mujing and her background - it’s not like he really has ‘better prospects’ . And I am really conflicted about Fang Mujing’s character too . They both seem a little selfish and are marrying with an agenda . She seems to be denouncing her family even further
