Is 30+ really that OLD?The way some of you refer to Tojo (including Tojo himself) you would think he was a grandpa…
It isn't really 30+, it's the age of 40. By then, everything "should" be settle. Career, Relationship, Family if by then it isn't, you could be considered "late" (it's even worse for women).

But yeah, it's just a mind set cultivated by many past generation and doesn't actually mean much. But Tojo is deeply insecure with low self esteem & anxieties regarding how people see him and could judge him for anything he likes - this man just doesn't want to stick out & it's quite the common anxiety in Asian societies as they are far more homogeneous than Western countries.

Anyway, what I'm saying the main issue is how Tojo view himself but Japanese standard aggravated the problem.

I'm clearly not a fan of sad endings. I'm unfortunately not built to appreciate them BUT this one gently prepared us for that and didn't ambush me with overly happy moment just to wreck me in the last moment. No, in the later episodes, you already feel that it will not end well for both of them. They do not give us unnecessary hope that they will survive this while still made clear that they really do love each other... It was just not meant to be in this life.

Instead, they give us a beautiful bittersweet ending. All debts have been paid and now, we can easily imagine them in their clean next life. :)

I love BL. I love Historical C-Drama. So this being those two, I could only love it. While this is on the lower budget side, it's still one of very good quality. Those two "rookie" young actor where fantastic here as it really need to pull off all those emotional scene if they wanted to have an impact. And they nailed it.

As for the ending, in the spoiler below:

Thank for the input. I had heard some fan of the OG work had issue with the cast (mainly Ping) but didn't know about the whole copyright situationship. I can understand the frustration from the author but let's be real here: the cast itself wasn't part of it. He (She ?) can 100% blame his publisher but after that...

But he probably wouldn't as it's them that maintain his income. And he probably cannot do much to Change2561 so targeting the cast is easier ? Really not fan of bullying the "weak" to avoid the strong mentality here.

Anyway I still love the show & Prince's antic. :)

Not me still hoping the crown prince/new emperor will turn a new leaf and be a decent human being for once... He disapointed me at every turn but I'm still here - I really don't know why - cheering for him... Worse I feel alone... Am I alone with this fruitless hope ? Y_Y

WHY oh why are Xianxia drama endings so convoluted?!!! its rare to get a clearcut ending!! Bit annoying really!!!{{Sigh}}…
China Censorship strike again. :)

The last bit about the real world is just to be able to be aired. FL cannot die in the real world and have access to another world, she need to "wake up" and her experience need to be a "dream" to pass the censorship. They have an history about schoolgirls ending their life to access this "better world" so now, it cannot be aired on national TV like this drama.

Yes definitely AI translation. In episode 1, they said Minwoo was Ian's friend and Jayden was his younger sibling. Maybe it was a mistranslation and Jayden was just Minsoo junior ?

Tbh, I will watch the final episode but the translation make the whole thing unwatchable for me.

"I can't date anyone as someone predicted I will make my Wife & Children unlucky... Y_Y"

Of course they will, because you we will have a Husband! :P

But like the comment below, it was a bit out of nowhere. Tbh, I see that coming as this couple didn't have much screen time to begin with. Sometime they just add a second couple just for the sake of it and it's the case here.

Also, surprised by the "Fight for You" Easter egg (not me not recognize the actor until this point... God I'm so bad at that...)

Anyway, the last scene was emotional. Not perfect (don't know why but Martin Wong was kind of awkward only when he played the phantom here) but it worked on me, they got me a tear. :'(

You watched this at x2 speed and ignored all the flashback didn't you ? The Emperor & Empress were in love even before the man take over her body. The whole story tell you that and how they grew apart once he became Emperor. MC was the catalyst that rekindled their relationship but If you truly read this drama as a love story between the Emperor & the man, well, I cannot do anything for you.

Tbh reconnecting with your family and giving them a million chances just cuz they are 'family' is so over done…
Yes, I also have major irk with this troop. Like I remember in the recent "My Dearest Nemesis" the grandma literally psychologically abused her grandson for YEARS but was in the end forgiven because she was grieving (like ML didn't lose both his parents...). The most enraging part was the parent died because someone crash into their car (Drunk driver ? Don't remember the detail) but she blamed a child because "If you didn't ask them to go to a comic con they would be alive!". This part was so poorly written that I'm still triggered. x)

Anyway, here, it's less bad. Obviously, the father is from another generation - he doesn't excuse him but I could understand where it come from at least - and really struggle with his own emotion that he never learned to express due to his own education (he wasn't even allowed to cry apparently...). It's a old tale that we already seen multiple time with coming out stories. :)

Mahiro wth why are you just standing still 😭 do whatever, protect him, hug him, kiss him, yell at his father,…
He tried to defuse the situation at first but after the father didn't buy any of that, Kanade stand for himself. I'm glad he didn't interrupt him because Kanade really needed to get that out of his chest. And he could do it because he become strong enough through the love, understanding & support Mashiro give him so far (like just a minute ago, he could reconnecte with his old high school friends because Mashiro push him to do it).

That being said, I'm 100% sure that after the father was gone, he did play the supportive boyfriend.

Wdym ? In "Mr. Queen", the Emperor always loved the "Former" Empress and the "Man-Possessed" Empress never developed romantic feeling on his own for the Emperor. Tbh, the Emperor didn't even know it was a man in his Empress body until the very end. If you read too much into it, it's more a you-problem than anything.

For a deadly punishment that went extra difficult because of the Evil Scumbag nº4, ML being completely unscathed felt really weird for some reason. ^^'

I mean we saw blood when the birds literally pierce through his entire body multiple time and the next scene he is completely chill riding a horse at max speed ? He didn't even split blood like MLs always do. :P

I also loved how Evil Scumbag nº3 lectured Evil Scumbag nº1. He really spoke truth after truth facing his own death! Of course, Evil Scumbag nº1 lost his sh*t because deep down, he knew he was spitting fact. In the end, he sadly still choose to be delulu & made a deal with Evil Scumbag nº2 (I was hoping for a redemption arc but I don't see that coming now).

Anyway, I hope we will have some fluff before all those Evil Scumbags scheme against the leads AGAIN.

We can't be sure if they will follow the ending and how tingyan will be back in modern world, remember about CENSORSHIP…
Transmigration & reborn stories are a big no no in C-Drama because of an incident that happened to many young Chinese schoolgirls believing they would "revive" in a better world once they killed themselves because of a drama they watched.

So now, drama that have those plot line need to be censored mostly as "it was all a dream" -> FL (or ML) waking up in their real world like nothing happened.

I had no problem too with age gap, if girl is too young and man is too old I'd find it weird but if man is young…
Shouldn't matter either way as seriously I don't understand the concept of age with Korean actors. They all look freaking young most of the time that I can't fathom guessing their age unless I read their bio. The only thing that could rube me in the wrong way is a romance drama involving a minor actor with a much older one.
