I see the Romance tag in it and a FL apparently but as far as I understood this story, the focus is mainly on the ML & his journey. So, is the romance a sub-sub-plot because why the hell not or the romance is essential and FL share equally the "spotlight" with ML like many others C-Drama ?
I do think it's the former just based on what I heard and the trailer I watched but I want to be sure. :o
Entertaining. Clearly not my favorite as they focused too much on toxic characters. The relationship between all the couple where sweet - my favorite was Monkey & Aunty.
But like I said previously, the fact that all the problem that the main lead had could be resumed to one line: Girls that liked ML tried to sabotage their love life. First the Roommate then the Psycho. And they were pretty chill about this fact afterward. They really wanted to make the leads look as "perfect" : They can't be vengeful or petty but seriously, they deserved at least a slap.
The worst was her last reveal (don't read to avoid spoiler):
"Oh btw, I was responsible for almost drowning you and killing your best friend. Now, I'm feeling so much better that I said the truth! Well, I decided to go abroad. Bye, xoxo!"
And how the leads reacted ? "The past is the past, no need to point finger now!". While it is noble... I can't see any human being react this way. It's really a C-Drama thing to have leads that are literally "Gods on Earth": Beautiful, Smart, Overly Nice & have an insane amount of "skills". Like the FL that do really advanced Math as a "hobby" but she is also first in her psychology major apparently. She is talented at swimming but learn Climbing like it was nothing. They are more than Genius at this point, like I said they are Gods.
And poor Shi. I hope he find someone that love him back this time. But I really didn't like how he was written: His whole character was so paper thin: Loyal + "I love Entong". It was really shallow.
Anyway, it's just my rant but don't get me wrong, I would still say this a good & lovely drama overall.
Can you spoil me what actually happened.. Is he really twin of previous emperor, if so how he grew up differently
They were twin but he was weak at birth. A superstition that said if a twin died it could bring calamity to the royal family. She was a consort at this time, not the Empress. So she feared that the Empress would use that to kill her and her other son (the other twin). To avoid that she didn't declare having twin, just one prince and send the weak twin outside of the palace to be a commoner with a maid of her mostly to die. Except he didn't die and was quite healthy at that. He later learn his upbringing, killed his twin brother and took his place.
Yeah it's why Yan Chi became his Regent. So it stayed in the Capital resolving crime with his wife until the Emperor can rule alone. It was said that he will guard the border like his father did when it happen.
Honestly, when I first heard about this ABO adaptation, I was a bit reluctant to watch it. I was curious about…
I can only judge on what we have seen so far as I didn't read the OG work but I think they choose the right material. A lot of Omegaverse stories have part that I struggle to see the appeal: Rape/Forced Sex/Sex under influence (Rut/Heat) between main leads.
I dropped this after watching episode 1, because it confused me and wasn’t totally glued to the series. But,…
Yeah, I do think the whole Alpha-Beta-Omega/Pheromone/Mpreg isn't beginner friendly. I don't know its origin - maybe it did started with werewolf (but not the Twilight one) but this story is based on the "Omegaverse". Google it and you will have all the answer you need (& some you probably don't need like the in-depth detail of their genitalia).
I can't hold.my laugh after watching tanned JqX ... literally they should have deducted the salary of makeup artist…
Wdym others part ? He wasn't naked at the beach. But on full cloth under the sun working. So only his face & arm should be tan. And leg if he wear short. Personally I liked his tanned look. Most C-Actors seem overly white in a unnatural way but I know it's just the beauty standard there so I can't really complain. ^^
I really don't think so. This story take place in 1915. So in France, it's the WWI. Gay or not, any men wasn't…
Well, I can't say I witnessed this time period but what I can tell you that in the French LGBT movie industry most of them are sad stories during this time period. A lot of hate crime, abandoned/beaten children and AIDS. Religion was still strong at this time. And some were definitely beaten to death because they were homosexual. It really wasn't until 1980+ that thing get better.
And just to clarify, the 19th century is 1801-1900. And at this time, sodomy could put you in jail.
Honestly Rati and Thee running off to Paris to be a gay couple would kind of make sense historically speaking…
I really don't think so. This story take place in 1915. So in France, it's the WWI. Gay or not, any men wasn't safe at that time. After that during the WWII (1939-1945 from memory), Homosexuals were deported like Jewish peoples.
And to add more context, Homosexuality in France was still heavily stigmatized & their life could be endanger for most of the 20th century even outside of those wars. It's not until late 20th that it became "safer". And even now, it isn't perfect but it's like the rest of the world more or less.
if you didn't like the show that's fine, but i feel like so many of the criticism here is made in bad faith/from…
Yes Comedy can have a minor romance sub-plot but this isn't the case here at all. The whole plot is about their relationship. This is clearly a Rom-Com as the Comedy is always intertwined with the Romance plot. They also have their cute moment and angst moment. Not every romance - in this case BL - need to be exactly the same and have the same angle.
Lol I'm just glad she's finally gone. Good riddance.
This didn't age well REALLY fast. She's back! And someone already sabotage FL & ML relationship. Not sure if it was her but so far I don't see any others suspect - maybe a new character ?
And he want to be chased. Like when she slowed down he waited. But then he speed up again when she did too. It's…
Nah, if my BF pulled that move I would still broke is leg (metaphorically). All he did was really selfish from him. Sure he was pitiful, sure it will be presented with a nice "Love Ribbon" in the end. But it was still so damn selfish to not at least send ONE text message saying "I'm fine". Or even better, explaining why he acted this way. Even now, he is still silent.
Everyone in FL friend group saw this & said it to her but she is in too deep & cannot leave him - to the point of chasing him to that extend.
if you didn't like the show that's fine, but i feel like so many of the criticism here is made in bad faith/from…
I can see your point but saying it's not a BL is pushing a little too far. It's a text book rom-com as the main plot is still the love relationship between the leads. Light & unserious, it doesn't need to turn your brain on or prepare your tissue box for some heartbreaking plotline that could scar you for life.
After that, it's still need to be entertaining. Personally I liked it - not my favorite but it's an easy watch at least - but I can also understand that the repetitiveness of all those misunderstanding can be tiring for some.
Also, from what I gathered from the comment below most complain more about the lack of physical intimacy. Again, not my opinion as I was satisfied with the kiss and the "censored" bed scene but it is what it is, nowadays most BL enjoyer need their french kiss and "explicit" bed scene to fully enjoy it.
I am just rewatching the scene of Qin Wan and Prince Cheng non-stop, they ate up that back-and-forth scene because…
Yes this scene was trully great. The Prince for being as repulsive as he can be, FL for her tongue that killed him multiple time and ML for being here on time. :)
So whats the deal with Yan ze??.. no novel spoilers please.. just some creative answers.... u think he is faking…
I don't think he is faking it. He clearly was poisoned and know he went blind because of that. As to why he didn't tell yet I don't know. I don't think it's for making the princess fell guilty and marrying her (doesn't make sense to plot this long just for that & he was a kid at that time).
If I would use my drama logic knowledge ( :P ) maybe he saw something he shouldn't have & the culprit use this mean to "control" him ? I've seen this plot many time but they are still children when FL/ML come to them to save the day. Him being adult and controlled this long make less sense. Maybe his relative are also threatened ? We will see as we also have another that have seen too much (the little prince) so maybe it's why he was brought into the story.
i know it's not supposed to be funny, but her chasing him (literally) and him running away like he was being chased…
And he want to be chased. Like when she slowed down he waited. But then he speed up again when she did too. It's not until she completely fall to the ground that it realized that maybe he should help her. If I was the FL, I would broke his legs. :P
Please enlighten me. Does China allow BL content now? I’ve seen it available on various platforms.
Revenged & Desire only exist because of a loophole. Technically, they aren't produced by China & they also don't have right to be broadcast in the mainland. But everyone know it's labeled as a "C-BL" & Chinese citizens have way to watch it. For now, their government seems to turn a blind eyes but the fact that the production of Revenge did tweet to not spread the "spicy content" on social media (they didn't specify but it's clearly targeted at Chinese one for obvious reason) seems to reveal that either they are still in an uncomfortable position or they directly receive a warning.
Tbh, it's a bit of a cornerstone for C-BL. If they are really adamant on the BL ban, they could target the C-actor/crew making them or they could just let it go if the backslash from C-citizen is too big.
