while waiting for these episodes.. i wish someone would thrown snippets of funny/romantic scenes from the book…
I copied this from an earlier post I commented on. I busted out laughing when I read it. There’s more funny scenes it the book, but would take me forever to search because the book is kind of long.
I think their flirty banters made the book interesting, here’s a little excerpt from the book, I thought was funny , “I’m not,” Ming Yi’s eyes darted around. “This slave is… menstruating. It’s not convenient to serve my Lord.”
He made a sound of acknowledgment and calmly asked, “Does menstruation come from the mouth?”
The context was from a part where he pretended to deflower a harlot/courtesan, he made everyone believe he slept with, but his body guard/aid, who is his companion beast in the drama slept with her. MY didn’t want JBZ to touch her again because he was “unclean” to her since he “slept with” someone else.
How was the novel? I mean what is the biggest difference here?
The maid, I don’t remember him doing anything with her. I don’t really remember the maid, but the one the prince made him take home. Even then they didn’t do anything. And there was a harlot/courtesan he made everyone believe he slept with, but his body guard/aid, who is his companion beast in the drama slept with her.

He did for political reasons, but he never consummated their relationship, he was still in love with MY. He wasn’t married to MY for a long time because she kept rejecting him and he married someone else, but eventually he divorced the princess (not the same princess in the drama) and got married to MY. In the book the Tian Ji was an official’s daughter. The princess in the book was a junJiu.
Ming yi’s hairstyles r so pretty beautiful n gorgeous There was a lot of potential fr the kissing scene n didn't…
They cut the kissing scene (I saw the uncut version) disappointing, probably going to cut a lot of the kissing scenes to few seconds because I saw kissing clips and they were hot and heavy, probably to pass censorship.
Viki is so slow, how is Netflix more up to date with this one.
I was watching on Netflix, (I thought someone mentioned Netflix will not update until a certain date), but moved to YouTube on the Youku channel. At least they are up to date, except for the TVOD. It’s like $2 extra to watch the next episode, which is only on the Youku app, but not on YouTube.
Because in the book JBZ is the real crown prince (Ming Xian) JBZ was abandoned and was taken to the slave camp…
More Excerpt: This is Concubine Yan speaking.. so it was the Red veins
Seeing a flash of vulnerability in her eyes, Consort Yan suddenly seemed to gain the upper hand, raising her chin contemptuously. “If my child had innate red veins, none of this would have happened. I would have loved and cherished them. Forget poison, I wouldn’t have let even cold soup touch their lips. These are things you, traitor, will never have!”
Because in the book JBZ is the real crown prince (Ming Xian) JBZ was abandoned and was taken to the slave camp…
From what I remember he didn’t have like blue or red veins (I can’t remember what color) when he was born, but later it showed up. So she took a long distant relative’s daughter with that red or blue vein, that’s why she had to grow up as a boy.
I read this a long time ago so take it as a grain of salt and this is very different from the drama. In the novel…
I read the novel too, but I read somewhere they changed the ML to be pure, innocent, not a player like the book because of how it would be perceived in China, so they had to tone his character down.
Watch A Girl Like Me. That’s where I first saw him! 😍
I first saw him in Cambrian Period, but he had such a baby face, then When We Were Young, cute , but still looked like a boy. Then when I saw him in A Girl Like me, man he changed so much and was gorgeous. I started paying attention to him more after that drama.
Can anyone who has read the book or the novel explain why her mother who is the empress feels that she has to…
Because in the book JBZ is the real crown prince (Ming Xian) JBZ was abandoned and was taken to the slave camp because he didn’t have the blue or red vein, I can’t remember which color, when he was born, later the vein showed up when he got older. She found a long distant relative whose wife just gave birth to Ming Yi at the same time or close and she had that vein. That’s why she had to grow up as a boy. I don’t think in the book she had a veil, I can’t remember that part, but I remember she grew up as a boy.
naurr, it’s another girl but she’s really cute too I believe she doesn’t exist in the drama plot though,…
In the novel the girl he gets with is Xu Tianji, she’s an official’s daughter not a princess and in the drama is Gong Zhu, but in the book there’s a Jùnzhǔ who married JBZ. And the Princess in the book comes in towards the ending of the book. Yan Xiao and Xu Tianji ends up together I believe. I can’t remember, read it a while back.

I watch Viki for already finished dramas, they are so slow.

Amidst the discussions, Ming Li grabbed Si Hou’s wrist, asking angrily: “Ming Xian is not your biological child?”
Si Hou was extremely flustered: “She… she is also a child from my clan. The bloodline of our clan is naturally powerful.”
“Then why did you abandon your child?” Ming Li was furious. “If you can discard your flesh and blood, aren’t others even more insignificant to you?”
Here you go
