I’m only on episode 8 and so far there hasn’t been anything really happening between them.

I think she’s a strong FL - smart, resilient, and pragmatic. So far I’m enjoying the show because it is a fluffy show but not a dumb show. It’s like when we take a shot of tequila but need a chaser. This is the chaser- it is a good palate cleanser. Then we go back to the tequila (revenge & place intrigue).

I think if at episode 20 you’re not feeling it, it is safe to say you might not enjoy the rest of the series because it pretty much remained the same story beats & plot. I enjoyed the series very much from beginning to end but I’ve read multiple reviews where people who didn’t enjoy it mentioned that the latter part of the show bored them.

Tbh- This is a such a chaotic show & the plot is all over the place but it is entertaining. If you don’t take it too seriously you’ll have fun time. The romance isn’t really romancing (for me) but it’s not a romantic series - more like bromance cuz I’m really enjoying the interactions between ML & his co-horts in the guardian & astronomy!

Many parts of the drama stands out for a lot of people which is why it’s getting heat index 30,000, trending on X & Tik Tok (in the west), 8.9 ratings in MDL & Viki & Iqiyi. Media is subjective & if by now (ep 26) you still don’t understand the hype, then maybe this show was just not for you. And that’s fine. Calling it overrated is your opinion & us giving the show 8.9 is our opinion. So after almost 1000 comments on this page your question seems to be more rhetorical tbh.

I’m curious to know which show you think has leads with burning hot chemistry if DZ & SM is only slight warmth?? Cuz they’ve been sizzling hot for me since episode 1!

Good point. Remember when they were on the boat? She said that married couples do not show affection only lovers so I think her idea of a married life must be skewed from her previous life

During that time, stepmom’s father was demoted & she was selling food at a food stall. DZ’s father was studying for an exam in the same area as the stepmom so FL’s mom asked her to help her take care of the dad

I don’t understand why you’re having issues with women wanting the freedom to choose her own life? Being married isn’t the only path to one’s happiness. Besides, in this drama, DZ isnt’t against being married. She is just worried about marrying the wrong persons and living a miserable life. She witnesses it with her grandma & her own mother. She also mentioned to the grand princess during the contest that serving tea, cooking, arranging flowers, and other feminine etiquette are important too but shouldn’t be the only criteria to judge a woman’s worth.

It’s neither underrated nor overrated- it’s rated exactly where it should be by those who rate it :) Everything is subjective. It might not be your cup of tea! I usually give dramas about 3-4 episodes before I drop it, no matter how much hype it’s getting. Which means that I’ve dropped some of the more popular ones at times. But then there are some dramas that I’m screaming at the top of my lungs about how it good it is but no one else seems to care about it lol.

SM rebelled against the crown as part of his vengeance and retribution against those he deemed responsible for his uncle and his uncle’s clan’s demise. He was under the impression that the king & crown prince were responsible for it so he took the other prince’s side who supposedly betrayed him too. This caused a lot of death & destruction

I’m enjoying this a lot & it’s in my top 10 all time c-drama list. If it can stick the landing then it might even crack the top 5! However, there are those who are not enjoying it because they say it’s a tired trope (rebirth, “cold ML,”), a rip off of MingLan, too similar to the Double (revenge), FL already married & was cheated on, etc….so there you have it. Some of the complaints I’ve come across. I would recommend you give it a shot because tbh- I haven’t seen this much fervor for a c-drama beyond C-drama hardcore fans since LBDAF. It’s that popular.

Exactly! FL is out there doing her job and she’s doing it well. She can be reckless at times but def not dumb. I’m just surprised that after all her shenanigans ML hasn’t assigned to guard to protect her lol

I’m currently enjoying this show for what it is- a fluffy crime solving romance w/superficial court intrigue drama. I like the ML & FL, enjoy some of the side characters, and the storyline is fine. The FL & ML can be frustrating at times w/their inability to communicate but I’m noticing that FL is getting the brunt of the criticisms within these comments. It’s a trend that I’ve noticed - female actors are not given the same grace as their male counterParts even when their acting is sus or when they’re being hella possessive or toxic. They jump to complain about “dumb” FL but ignore toxic ML. This is just my observations. Also, I highly doubt that famous actresses/actors are spying on MDL to badmouth other dramas or their fellow actresses/actors. It’s their toxic delulu fans who get on here to spout their nonsense lol. If I don’t like an actor/actress, I just skip their dramas or their show page. It is easier than hate watching to bitch about them later. Legitimate criticism is fine but oftentimes those comments feel like personal attacks. Anyways- happy drama watching . If anyone is from CA I hope ur staying cool & hydrated cuz it’s SO HOOOOOOOT!

The drama was mid to me. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t the worst out there. I enjoyed the beg episodes more than the latter parts of the series. It’s prob not a show I’ll rewatch again. I do like XK & Seven Tan so I finished it for them.
