I’m actually glad the emperor didn’t get any redeeming arc because he didn’t deserve it. He killed off his brothers and his son, and treated his Nephew like a tool. I appreciated that his character stayed consistently manipulative and cruel. But the ending when he was poisoned and his son was poisoned was kinda hilarious because of the flashbacks. That’s the sucky part about having the burden of carrying your family on your shoulders. She promised her grandmother she will get the men back home- she promised her grandfather that she will get them home. She knows how fickle the damn emperor is so of course she’s going to be pragmatic about it. Remember they can’t even marry for 3 years due to his mourning so why not prioritize what is within your control and take care of businesss? Yes still loves him but she is also the head of the household so every decision she makes affects not just her family but so many others.

Since they’ve been such great communicators and have always been open with one another, I think her wanting to be free from palace restrictions would be the ONLY legitimate reason for a break-up. At least to me, that would make the most sense because they want different things in life & may no longer be compatible. She wouldn’t be able to come & go as she pleased to see her family - especially her grandfather - once she enters the palace. So I look forward to the next 10 episodes of angst, angst, and more angst…then hopefully a non-rushed happy ending for EVERYONE! You get a hubby! You get a hubby! You get a hubby !! lol

The show doesn’t center their romance but what we get is amazing :) We actually see them fall in love as the series progresses and we understand WHY they fell in love w/each other. Their communication is top tier - they talk and seek support & run ideas w/each other! They both have their own life and goals that doesn’t always revolve around each other so it’s awesome that when they’re not together that they ability have other relationships beyond the romantic type. FL & ML both are equals in their relationship. I love how loving they are w/one another - their intimacy in their communication & their physicality.

I’m not one to put a label of “good” or “bad” on the daughters, you did. I only mentioned that they had similar stories with regards to DV. Of course their temperaments and sense of entitlement dictated their actions - whether to hide the abuse or lash out at others because the situation was not within their control. Both of those actions resulted in the consequences that we saw.
As for being forced to Marry, I think she wanted to marry into that families- but I could be mistaken. Either way, no one deserves to be abused. It just sucked that she ended up digging her own grave.

I’m enjoying this so much! I hope they resolve the mystery about ML’s identity sooner rather than later so that it doesn’t become a drag on the story. FL is too smart to not figure it out - especially since he is the tallest person in the dang city!
