To BT’s question below that “Is the show well-written/thought out” and disregarding whether it’s entertaining or not, I would flip it around.

I think that most of us would agree that the writing has shown a lack of discipline since Episode 33-ish. I still maintain a change in the writing staff occurred then, but that’s irrelevant. I’ve seen little evidence of structure or planning in the writing since InOk went nuts.

So, let’s focus on: Is the show entertaining? This is "entertainment", after all, and if it isn’t by the end of the day, then TRHC is a failure.

Where as fire needs 3 things to exist (ignition, fuel, oxygen), Entertainment needs its own set of requirements. Content that is: Interesting, enjoyable, and compelling.

The show has to be INTERESTING to hold our attention during each episode. This is the anti-channel surfing ingredient. It needs to be ENJOYABLE to make us feel glad that we watched it and not feel bad about ourselves for doing so. And it needs to be COMPELLING so that we come back for the next episode. Break any one of those 3 things, and the series is not entertaining and ultimately fails.

Personally, while I find the show interesting and somewhat compelling, it is not enjoyable. So for me, TRHC sucks.

But I think the real problem isn’t the sub-par writing. Rather, the show has structural issues it can’t overcome. The K-dramas I’ve seen usually have a main couple, with one or two secondary couples. Airtime is shared between these, with the main couple having the majority of air time (think of it as 50% - 25%-25%). Occasionally, this can get turned on its head (second-lead syndrome) and 3BS is the perfect example: The main couple had little chemistry, while the second (and to a lesser extent 3rd) couple ‘clicked’. The writers of that show quickly changed the storyline to feature the 2nd and 3rd couples, while giving the main couple a supporting role until the end of the series. So, the secondary couples are like a safety-valve: If the main couple’s story stinks, you can switch gears and concentrate on the secondary’s.

But TRHC has too many secondary couples: YM/DW; CM/SJ; JM/DW; Uncle/Hee; CS/IO; SJ/JH, and now DW/SS too. All of these characters are fighting for airtime. But the story is dominated by the main couple. So everything else is reduced to background noise instead of an even flow between the main and secondary couples. SJ/JH aren’t even a real couple, yet they’ve gotten more airtime than any other. We need YM/DW and Uncle/Hee to step up so that we are not being bludgeoned to death by the angst of TK/YD for almost the entire show. Making the viewers subject to this fails the ENJOYABLE ingredient. It may be compelling (like watching a train-wreck) and it is interesting, but it’s not enjoyable. And that’s why TRHC is no longer entertaining and fails for me. YMMV.

Thank you! I must say, the amount of rainfall is really impressive. We certainly need it here (not all at once, but you take what you can get).

They are a fact of life here, I'm afraid. Nothing could get worse than the Northridge quake for me - we were less than 10 mi from the epicenter for a 6.6 quake. I can't even describe how violent the shaking was.

It was funny, Ericka, I thought of your post as I was sitting here rolling back and forth! It was far away enough and only 5.0 that nothing of note happened other than it was like a "You've got to be kidding me!" moment.

What's she trying to do🤔pray all the evil and bad outta him 🤦🏼🙄
Looks like Grandma is going to insist on a memorial service for Strawberry in their house and everyone must attend. We saw them preparing food for it, and JH gives Granny a funeral portrait of his mom for display during the service. I guess YD is going to talk to Granny about it.

I can't decide what's worse: This tropical storm (ex-hurricane) we're having, the earthquake we just had, or Episode 44. Ironically we got the quake as I was about 10 mins in to Ep 44.
This was a completely forgettable episode. Nothing was resolved, no progress made anywhere. Maybe in 45, if previews are to be believed. It was a waste of bandwidth.

My only takeaway is that SooJung is a saint. Bless her character.

TRHC is a total dumpster fire now. You're not missing anything.

Lets have a "REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THE GONG FAMILY REGISTER" party for Taekyung, though. Best thing he can do,…
I really don't want him to remove himself from the register if at all possible. (I've not seen ep 44). He's entitled to any inheritance he's due, given his treatment by the family.
Instead, as we've pretty much agreed: MOVE AWAY. Preferably out of SK. They both have professions that are universally needed and I'm sure they both speak english (she does, for sure). Don't reveal your location to anyone except the most trusted family member(s) if at all. Just live your lives and grow your family away from the toxic members of your family. PERIOD.

I am curious tho is here anyone left that thinks this show is a good well written/thought out kdrama? Not 'entertaining'…
I think I would flip the question, BT. We know its not well written/thought out (well, at least the majority would agree). The real question is: Is it entertaining, all said and done? I have one of those TL/DR answers for you that might provoke the long-post authorities, let me think of how to word it.

I can’t believe this but Kim Chang wan (actor who plays Jang Jung Ho -se Jin’s dad) is on KBS here fronting a rock band and he’s pretty good!

One thing that slipped by me is that Hee's son does indeed have a form of Leukemia. Thus making a possible need for a bone marrow match/donation. And conveniently here's Uncle, who in any conventional k-drama would secretly be his father and marrow donor. I floated this a couple of days ago, and it sure looks like this is the direction a normal series would head in. But with THIS series, who can say?

Ok, the Nun seems legit now. I am now suspicious why Jun-ha doesn't want the Nun to know about the baby. he wouldn't…
Donna, regarding Hanuel as TK's - in a nutshell, here's the theory that was floated several months ago as a way to appease the domestic audience who disliked the idea of TK not being the father:

In the beginning of the series, TK and JH lived in the same hotel. TK's room was one floor directly above JH's. It was proposed that sometime in Early February, a very drunk YD went to TK's room by mistake and conceived Haneul with an equally drunk TK. She then made her way out of the hotel before either of them sobered up and realized who mated with whom. This is what you'll see here referred to as the "Mistaken Room Theory".

Hope this helps - LADF

Wait! Through a phone call??? I thought it was the usual report saying 99.99999% match 😂😂😂
Yeah, I later figured that a show that can have someone change the name of someone else's baby simply by filing a form can also get confirmation of a DNA test via phone call. Why not?

I don't have twitter, and it seems you have to have an account to be able to see things in it. It didn't used to be that way. Yes, I still want them to move to a small town they can live a quiet life in, or just leave SK altogether, and go to Canada or Australia (not USA, KJH has too many ties here).

I mean, how hokey can you get? The contempt of these writers is like something I've never seen. It's not even incompetence anymore. IF you want your proof this is phoney-baloney, here it is. Now all they have to do is intercept the written report, and the scam is set.
Unless, of course, they writers are too lazy and just said "eh, we'll do it via a phone call, since it's faster".

Title The Real Has Come! Spoiler
Well, it wasn't any easier watching it than just reading about it here.

I'm surprised they're still playing it straight with the nun and her dirtbag bro. I guess we're supposed to buy in to this? Who bribed the DNA lab to falsify the results? And since when do they give you the results over the phone??? Who really called TK???? As we saw in 3BS, these results are in the form of a written-report and either hand-delivered in person or by certified courier. This sets off major red-flags for me. But at this point, I'm so disillusioned that I'm having a hard time caring.

As BT mentioned below, seeing TK in full panic-attack mode when he woke up was not pleasant. And why didn't YD tell him that she wouldn't leave because THEY'RE MARRIED NOW. Why didn't she mention that? I still don't trust YD and neither does TK. As Chrissydiva noted also, he's been like this since they started living together, but her abandoning him for real twisted the knife in his pysche. My man is hurting deep inside.

The most touching part was with SK & her mom. Most interesting to me was that YM realizes that double in-laws is not a deal breaker and tells DW so. But I still think the clock is ticking for them.

Even how annoying i will find Sun Joo plot, it will be nowhere near how much i hate TRHC. Glad i stopped watching…
Absolutely agree!!! SangJi was so good, and a great role for her too - no doormat or wilting lily of a leading lady. I'll watch Tumbling Family if only for her. The FL in TLIYE had way too inconsistent of a character and half of her problems stemmed from how secretive she was about every little thing in her life. Plus she had ZERO chemistry with ML, he had his issues too.

Thanks, I run the weather station here for our community so I've had to go out and clean it to be ready for rain (which is rare here in SoCal summer). But, we'll see. A lot of sensational-ization for this, which has already dropped to tropical storm, and has a lot of inland to travel before it gets here.
Interestingly, this morning it was clear blue skies, and now at 10:47 local its cloudy. Hmmmm.
