Yes, now that I've seen more, we still don't know if that unknown body is his. And his body is missing. The M.E. would've known too. Unless it wasn't her case, but she can find out for him if anyone sent in a John Doe. My hope is that he's somewhere in a coma like evil red-dress woman, and he can wake up by the end.
I am honestly not 100% sure he is dead tho. There might be a chance he is in coma. I just feel like it does not…
I'm not convinced he's dead either. I find it weird that a ghost can get hurt – When she flipped him over he was in pain – and he gets out of breath running around. I think he still has a connection to the living world. Even though his physical body is dead for now - since he's the 'unknown' body in the morgue - there's a chance he's in a limbo state.
Kimura Takuya had a fantastic role in this, I love his fight scenes. Beautiful. They kept things realistic too. He got hurt from time to time and he knows his limits because he's older. I liked that a lot.
I wish the drama were longer and that the secondary characters were actually likable, One had a stick up his rear nearly the whole time. I ground my teeth whenever was onscreen and antagonized Shimazaki (Kimura).
The only woman on the team was a grouch who mumbled and complained about her job and only cared about money, I don't even know why she was there. The youngest was guy okay, but he was lame.
The Chief, I loved him! He was the glue with Kimura that held it all together.
Unfortunately Shimazaki had a terrible son. Nearly everyone in the drama disrespects Shimazaki or treats him with contempt, I would've liked at least ONE character, his child, to show him kindness. He should've had a sweet daughter instead of that brat. He went through some issues because of his parents' divorce, I really get that. When Shimazaki admitted his failings as a husband, I attempted to understand why the boy acted the way he did. But still, this kid was obnoxious to the end. Ugh!
And there must be a law that says all middle-aged Japanese women have to wear page boy haircuts w/or without fringe bangs.
I know she had a rough start since Basketball but I think she's improved. I liked her in that anyway. She's very good in Children of a Lesser god right now.
I've seen four so far and while I won't comment on one or the other in terms of quality, acting, directing or…
I hear you. I think the actor playing Saegusa is the most irritating. He halts and pauses after every 3 words and then says vague things that leaves Oyama scratching his head and scrambling to figure it out on his own.
omg, I literally squealed because the writers read my mind and ran with it! I just would've extended it to the 20 episodes, and added a little more dramatic action, and family time for the banker, but for a cut drama it was fantastic.
What ticked me off is everybody expecting Sa Wol to just up and forgive that sister, when Do Yeong never once apologized sincerely. All she does is lie. Near the end, Do Yeong's still selfish. Driving into traffic, not caring if she kills others. Well, she was out of her head. Sigh.
But even if it takes a long time, forgiveness is powerful, and healing. It makes you a stronger person. After all, we have to view Do Yeong as a very pitiful child who grew up successfully, but she's also a needy woman.
I love that Sa Wol is not some wilting, shrinking violet female lead. She's kind, but not a pushover. She commands respect and when she doesn't get it she takes action. What happened to these women in Kdrama? For a long time they disappeared.
The ending was so maudlin, and then we get that fake-out by the ocean scene. Overkilled what was otherwise a drama that had me riveted.
Here's a new twist. Maybe one of the wives will die. I'm thinking Hye Jin. Oh Jang Choon was up to something and he followed them with a gun, but we're not sure who his real target is. Then again, Yeon hwa has the nightmare of Hyun Chul falling/drowning, so it could be him. Unless Ato stops the bullet in time.
As much as I want to love this drama, something feels "off" with the directing? I think the writing is great,…
I think so too. I find it too rambling, with over-long scenes. There's a lot of characters at play here. Jang Hyuk is fine but seems a little lost (like you said, could be the direction) and I don't care for the 'forced fortune cookie' OTP at this point either. There's a lot more episodes left so hopefully it comes together.
My heart can't take this anymore. I don't want to be forced to choose sides or wives. I love everybody even if certain people are being very selfish in episode 11 and 12.
My idea for an ending for this twisted Kdrama? The Reapers acknowledge their big mistake to a higher power and get permission to create an unprecedented time reversal to before the car accidents. But the Chef & Banker keep their memories of everything that happened. The 2 Hyun Cheols meet up and solve the loan case fast since they know who's responsible. They go home to their families filled with love and a new understanding. A few weeks later when they're all settled down, Hyun Cheol A visits the Chinese restaurant and the families all become best friends. The only ones who know the truth are the 2 Hyun Cheols and the Reapers. Nobody has to die and everyone is happy!
My ship-o-meter is completely broken right now.Every time I ship Yeon Hwa and Hyeon Chul, I see Hye Jin and her…
I feel you, for me right now there's four ways this drama can go, 2 of them leave one of the wives out in the cold, the other is exactly what you want (And me too) and the last one leaves them both widows. My heart and head hurts.
I agree it's very difficult at times. I know my writing strength is certainly not in reviews.
I'm not big on watching family dramas, but yes, I meant some of the exaggerated characters and sometimes uneven acting. But I just finished Glorious day and it ended well.
In Faith Park Se Young's Queen was the reason why Lee Min Ho's character traveled through time to find a Doctor. Her acting and character is very subdued, more focus was on the King, but it carried a lot of emotional weight for me.
Midas is in a similar vein to Money Flower, It's interesting because his character's greed gets him sucked into working for a woman and her family there too. Tazza he's more "street" on the gambling scene. I know of the dance movie, but I need to see that one! I wasn't able to find it with subtitles for a long time. To be honest I haven't seen Fated to Love you, I wasn't interested in it, and didn't care for Shine or go crazy either. But Jang Hyuk always does his best. A lot of fans weren't fond of his character in the recent "Voice." I thought he did what he could with the script and was great. Another really good drama to check out with him and Lee Da Hae is "Robbers." And Chuno The Slave Hunters is a must-watch. :)
Good article! I shy away from writing reviews because I'm prone to always give spoilers. You managed to be very vague and that's a good thing. This drama also keeps you on your toes because it forces you to keep changing sympathies with characters. One episode I feel bad for Bo Cheon, the next i want to strangle him, etc. lol In the latest cliff-hangers things are getting to that murderous point. I can't wait for the next eps.
I've been a fan of Jang Hyuk since I started watching Kdramas (It's been about 5 years now.) I know he gives his all for every role, but there are some hits and misses. Another great money-revenge Drama with him is "Midas" which I've seen twice, and "Tazza" which is actually gambling-revenge. Both are excellent in my opinion.
I've really liked Park Se Young since "Faith" where she played the kind, dignified Queen. She left a deep impression on me. I'm also enjoying her role in the family drama "Glorious Day." But the other characters are ruining it for me. You must know what those long dramas are like. Family Makjangs is more like it.
I am so disappointed in this drama. I loved Charlotte Kate Fox, but this family was the worst, The kids I could forgive by the end, even that complete brat Sakura. But their spineless, shameless father made my blood boil.
I love Charlotte Fox, but she is not in the film Jenifa. Charlotte Fox only made her Japanese debut in the acclaimed drama "Massan" in 2014. The actress in this movie is named Odessa Rae. Please correct that.
The killer was predictable, but all the little twists throughout weren't. I haven't seen any other adaptation before this. I'd like to see how the movie version condenses the story next.
