I liked it a lot up to a point and then it took a turn with the 2nd lead and her crazy, pitiful, "woe is me" antics. The writer suddenly decided we actually care and turned all the drama's attention and focus on her and her pseudo relationship with the lead and how she antagonizes Na Ra and lies about everything. I read through recaps for the final 5 episodes.
Once upon a time I watched this on good drama. But that site is riddled with ads and viruses. I found it wacky and fun. Very different from the typical Kdrama. 2 quirky souls meeting, fighting and eventually falling in love.
I love her! She became one of my favorite actresses. I still haven't seen all her dramas because I'm a picky bird. But over the years I soften up or go back to things. I really look forward to Voice 3. Those are hard to watch, I can imagine how emotionally draining playing the role can be. She talks so fast, it's amazing.
What's the big point of having "Sam Jang" at all if she was just a middle-man? It seems like if the Bull, Monkey, Pig, Dog, Winter General and other beings combined their powers they can beat the big Dragon threat.
I feel like I need to watch the movie "Journey to the West" to get over the "meh" taste this drama's leaving me with. It all felt like a huge build up to nothing.
I haven’t been able to move past ep 6 for the past 2 months. Oh Yeon Seo has this expressionless face that prevents…
I feel like her character, while on paper must've seemed so cool, and could have been, is like a plank of wood as played by Oh Yeon Seo. As for her lack of facial expressions, seems like a lot of botox or too much plastic surgery would do that.
Nothing gets in the way of a good plot more than love triangles and annoying love stories. And Kdramas never learn. The back and forth with the bracelet got annoying by the end.
Since this is a bloated Hong Sisters fantasy drama that aired 2 years ago I already had an inkling of what to expect. I like it more than I imagined. I'll give it that. The full ensemble cast were terrific. But like the Typical Hong fantasy the story stalls midway and never picks up much steam. There's humongous stakes that the Sam Jang must resolve, like that vision of a nuclear war on South Korea. Then after all these silly antics they wait until episode 16 to build up the plot about the future "Dragon King" of South Korea & high Priestess? And suddenly Seon Mi has these powers? Seriously? All this build up for a lackluster, disappointing "battle."
Lee Seung Gi grew on me as an actor (He really hasn't been in much through the years) so despite an unfortunate Spock-like haircut (I loved the longer hair when he was in the first forest prison) he does a great job. Cha Seung Won's being funny Cha Seung Won, or rather it's like Dokko Jin was a foolish deity. Still gave me a lot of laughs and I was fully invested in him finding his son. Oh Yeon Seo is a hit or miss actress for me. In this drama I found her performance lacking, stilted, and the chemistry with Seung Gi was kind of one-sided. He showed more passion than she did. And minor complaint - hated how she called his name. It must've been the same recording. There was no emotion in it - no fear, no love, desire. It was so flat.
The Supporting cast is superb, and saves the story. I loved Bu Ra's and Pal Gye's storyline. But again, typical Hong Sisters, always tearing down a good thing somehow. They need to stop with the open/cliffhanger endings even if it's their "thing." All it does is frustrate viewers. But I guess that's the draw. People will keep watching just to see if they'll ever wrap up a story.
This has too many dumb Keystone Kdrama cop moments. I like the lead actress. Taecyeon's acting here is really weak and it shows. I know he's improved since.
Spoiler: If Oppa Ghost can speak to the Shaman, why doesn't he just have her tell the Detective everything? And the Detecive knows the Shaman can see him too. So she would believe her. Instead they have this convoluted plot of secrets and an innocent man who was about to reveal the truth was killed in a really dumb way. I had to drop this one by the nonsensical 7th episode.
Tom was way younger than Malory so I do not think that Su Ji sub is the right choice, a younger actor would be…
Sandra Bullock's 54 years old and looks younger for her age. The actor who plays Tom was born in 1990 and is 28 years old. He's definitely much, much younger. Looks it too.
In Basketball there was a scene where she'd forgotten her lines and you hear an assistant or someone off-camera whisper it to her. And the Internet and viewers picked up on it so she became a big joke for a while. I thought she'd done so well in Basketball. But suddenly she became the girl who couldn't act. And from then I'd noticed she hadn't played the lead in a drama for nearly 2 years. :/
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. A realistic, slice-of-life romance with great performances by a stellar cast. I love Kimura and Takenouchi.
