This is an apples and oranges comparison and you very well know it. If you don't, well. There's too much I can unpack with this false equivalency but let's keep it simple. Jing is the victim of torture at the hands of his brother. The same brother that managed to convince all of his family all the while he was missing and being tortured that he was sick and too sick to be able to contact them. The same family who easily took his brother's word and didn't question it. The same family that when finally confronted with evidence that TSH conspired to harm TSJ in addition to passing off his child as TSJ's , lied and said it was all FFY's fault they believed him and gave him a lighter punishment. He couldn't do anything without hard evidence, and when the truth was finally out, he did what he needed. What, do you think is lacking? Who determines the justice? The victim or the bystander? I'm really confused at what point you were trying to make by your vile comment. What a weird analogy.
I guess it depends on what you define as kind. Kindness to a point your are crippled by it or kindness with boundaries.…
So that's my question, you have your claims now provide a suitable option he should have made with regards to his grandmother. In addition, he did deal with his brother, but I do not know if it's intentional or not so I will not assume, but you seem to forget he needed hard evidence before he could properly and effectively deal with his brother without him just killing him as those around him kept urging him to. And he was moping around in pity? He was a heartbroken man who was cornered. Like I am truly baffled by your comment. Stalking XY? LOL are you deliberately trying to be disingenuous? Now as for lack of character development, explain what you mean.
In this world setting, it appears Mount Jade is like a special zone untouched by all kingdoms, like a truly divine…
More details. Love it! Thank you! It really adds more layers to it. I don't get why novels get adapted only for significant points to be changed or removed. Instead of it being called an adaptation it should just be said "inspired by ...."

Nope. We're doing that here. If you have something to say, come to me direct and make yourself clear. What curse? What does a characters in a novel have to do with mocking a real life characteristic?
I guess it depends on what you define as kind. Kindness to a point your are crippled by it or kindness with boundaries.…
I hate fan wars. It's one thing to disagree about a character, but an entirely different thing when it devolves into insults. It's not cute and completely spoils the experience for everyone else of being able to exchange thoughts, ideas, share opinions in a meaningful way about the drama when half the comment section is littered with vitriol.
In addition, no one should ever be faulted for being kind. If there's something a person should never be mocked about it is kindness. An unwillingness to want to take revenge on another person is not a weakness. It is a strength. From the young to the very old anybody who has ever been made angry by another knows it is easy to want to lash or just lash out at that person but that it takes a whole lot of restraint to keep calm. Some people just don't like violence, and that's completely fine.
I'm genuinely curious as to what those who think Tushang Jing was crippled by kindness wanted him to do? Disrespect his grandmother or kill her? Kill Fangfeng Yinyi who with the aid of his grandmother drugged him and trapped him in an unwanted marriage? Murder his brother whom he used to look up to, and who he willing to give a pass due to the guilt he felt towards him because of how bad his mother treated him? The drama also made it clear that even though they were engaged, an engagement arranged by his grandmother, TSJ and FFY had never even met each other. Their first meeting was in Qingshui Town after his true identity became known. He made it clear to FFY he wanted to cancel the engagement. He also made it clear to his grandmother multiple times. However, since he felt his family owed FFY for the years she had spent taking care of his Grandmother and managing things in the Tushan household, he wanted to preserve her dignity by properly setting things up when he cancelled the engagement. Was he wrong for that? At the time, he had no idea about her true character of being a devious & scheming person, and as such did not properly guard against her despite tending to keep her at a distance. FFY always feigned weakness and being devoted around him, and he had no reason to suspect her real motive. XY herself realized later on she was wrong for not warning TSJ about FFY. But this was only after she met the older Tianer who gave her words of wisdom on life and love. By this time a lot of damage had already been done. TSJ had also already been actively trying to retrieve his memories even at the cost of endangering his own life because knowing himself, he refused to believe he would betray Xiao Yao by sleeping with another woman, and he was eventually proven right. Yes, it was with the assistance of XY that he was finally able to expose TSH and FFY. But is that wrong? TSJ was in the dark trying to uncover and expose the schemes of TSH and FFY who have had years to cover up their tracks and a lot of practice in not exposing themselves. If XY had not already had a reason to suspect FFY due to her assassination attempts of CX, which she didn't tell TSJ about due to not having hard evidence, she herself would not have been able to pick up on certain things. However, once the schemes were exposed with his brother lying his way out of a harsher by the clan elders, TSJ took the necessary measures to remove "the claws and fangs of his enemies" quoting XY, because while TSJ is kind, he is not stupid.
None of these seem to be the actions of someone "crippled by kindness." As such, I sincerely want to know what it was he didn't do that he was supposed to do according to those saying he was weak? Did not intend to write so much, but I am genuinely curious regarding my question.
I saw a comment from "AH" a couple days ago that explained this. The Royal Mother of Jade Mountain was sworn siblings…
I appreciate the response. I knew about Xiao Yao being sent to Mount Jade after her mother went to battle and news of her death was received. I also knew that it was Queen Mother who restored her true appearance, but I was confused as to her position and significance as she seems to be held in high regards or at least with respect by the King of Haoling and by Xiao Yao's grandfather.
Finally reviewed this drama but I have questions, that I don't recall being explained in the drama. For instance who exactly is Queen Mother? This was never actually explained in the drama unless I missed something. What is her significance? Why is she known as Queen mother? What is her role/what is she responsible for/what does she do? What exactly is Mount Jade? What is its significance? What position is this place in the whole of Dahuang? It doesn't appear to be a kingdom nor does it seem to be in the control of the other 3 kingdoms. Would love to understand better because the drama really failed in explaining this. Anyone that knows and could kindly explain that would be greatly appreciated.
To exist in a space where being a kind, thoughtful, compassionate and just an overall good person is something that is ridiculed and mocked is kinda wild. What a weird place to be in. But at the same time it also explains a lot.
It's all fun and games when one is behind a screen typing away and saying nonsense they would never dare say out loud in person. They say be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.
There's also a saying that goes you reap what you sow. Which basically means that what you put out you get in return. May such people never be in a place where the kindness and generosity they mock so much they end up being in desperate need of. To have such a mindset where kindness is something that is mocked is just downright diabolical. The level of vitriol in this comment section is disgusting.
An overall enjoyable drama. However, I can't help but feel that there are missing pivotal moments/scenes throughout the latter half of the drama. And it's weird how we did not get much scenes with regards to XY's and TSJ's reunion, wedding and afterwards. After the pain, the suffering, the longing and final reunion, more time with them was needed.
As for CX, sigh. "Heavy is the head that wears the crown." The very thing he wanted to obtain to protect the one he loves, is the very thing that keeps them apart in the end.
Regarding XL, I have such mixed feelings for this character. It's very hard to find a character that from the get go was shown to be cruel, abusive, violent to be anything other than someone to keep a distance from. The drama did its best to make him into a sympathetic character, for some viewers it worked, for others, not so much. He's a character I just SMH at when I think about. Dying for a needless and pointless cause. Sure he is a complex character, okay, but which one of them isn't? Never been a fan of glorifying toxicity, and trying to hand wave it as romantic. This is what his character represents to me.
One thing I am glad the drama highlights is loving and choosing the right person, and that it didn't go down the contrived "bad boy" path. Each of the 3 main male leads loved XY in their own way, but only one of them was right for her, and exactly what she needed. A man who didn't take her as a pawn, didn't take her for granted, put her first, cherished her, and made it clear. He helped to heal her jaded heart, and nurtured her love while allowing her to be able to be vulnerable without always being on guard. He saw her, understood her, and was willing to accompany her anywhere. And that's what she found in TSJ. TSJ with his quiet strength. Misunderstood and devalued by those who only look for superficial qualities. He was willing to always show compassion even to those who had cruelly harmed and betrayed him. Anyone who has ever been betrayed, knows that it takes an immense amount of strength not to retaliate and take revenge against someone who has harmed you. It is much easier to be vengeful, to retaliate, or hold a grudge than it is to forgive someone who wasn't even sorry for betraying you to begin with. So to be able to do so says a lot about that person.
If a director's cut was to ever be released with all the missing scenes, I would watch it again.
Timeline 1, I love that YJ throws a beautiful wedding to show his deep love for XG and his dedication as a provider…
Same. What makes it sting even more about XG 2 & YJ is how the breakdown of their relationship came about. Knowing that YJ went back after having left during that Shanghai trip that led to the end of their relationship only to see XG2 in XYM's arms hurts my heart. It explains why he did what he did when XG2 came to Leshan to see him so they could talk it out only to find him with Wen Ya, and thereby making XG2 believe that her suspicions were true about there being something going between YJ and Wen Ya. Their breakup came about from misunderstanding and lack of proper communication, and we saw that the pain of it was still there even after so many years.
The MDL rating for this drama had me nervous before I started because I didn't know what to expect. However, as the drama progressed, I became more and more confused about why the rating is so low instead of being at least an 8.0. After completing the drama, all I can say is that the current 7.2 rating is such an injustice to this unique yet compelling drama. If there's one thing to be said, it is that this drama is well acted.
I don't agree with the message conveyed about the eventual doom of long-distance relationships, especially when I've witnessed in real life several successful ones. If anything, the message here is the importance of open and honest communication between couples, and a willingness to compromise where needed and supporting and trusting each other. It goes to show that even when you believe something to be true, and "evidence" may show it as being so, that may not necessarily be the case. We saw this especially with Xia Guo and Yu Jian. In one timeline they were fortunate to overcome that misunderstanding, in the other timeline we saw how the suspicion and misunderstanding snowballed and led them down an irreversible path (my heart still aches at that last scene of the Shanghai timeline between XG & YJ).
This is all around and interesting drama that explores how a singular choice can lead us on two very divergent paths in life. There's no right or wrong, just the courage to make a choice and see it through.
Hi dear, it is not very clear in the drama or novel except the ending which is where he chooses neither and breaks…
What I have come to understand is that in both novel & drama he basically lost his divine status for love to suffer a constant cycle of losing his true life as a mortal, to basically end up with no love in order to break the cycle.
I appreciate your offer of translation as I do not understand Mandarin (Hope to one day learn).
Hi dear, it is not very clear in the drama or novel except the ending which is where he chooses neither and breaks…
Ugh! How sad is that? I just find his story compelling and tragic despite how brief it is. Thank you for replying back. I wish the novel writer would make it clear.
Not a bad drama, but I don't seem to have enjoyed it as much as others seem to have. While I appreciated how certain storylines were fleshed out, there are some I wish more attention was paid to. I must admit that there were times in which I found myself more invested in Qing Ye's repeating fate of being punished to always missing his love. I'm vexed that even at the end they didn't clear it up while we got an entire random episode dedicated to Ms. Jin's love life. 😩 For those that read the novel is Qing Ye in it, and does it make it clear who his true love is?
Still trying to wrap my head at the title of this drama "Fighting For Love". My confusion and question is where?? 🤔🧐
I stayed up late well into the early parts of the morning to complete the final 6 remaining episodes. And when I finally did sleep and woke up, I realized my heart is very heavy due to this drama. I didn't expect I was going to be as affected as I am about how the relationship between the two leads devolved, but I am. I think it stems primarily from how their falling out began (after they had just finished reconciling about Sheng Yizi hiding the truth about his adopted father killing A'Mai's father) due to other people plotting against them. Mainly with the Prime Minister using A'Mai's life to force Yizi to marry his daughter. Rather than Yizi clarifying this right away with A'Mai he allows the misunderstanding to grow which led to even more misunderstandings as the gap between them grew bigger. It didn't help either when Yizi seemed to suddenly have a 180 degree personality shift making him unrecognizable and his actions/mindset irreconcilable with A'Mai's bottom line especially with his final act that was the last straw. I ache at their falling out because it signaled the loss of the bond they had with all they had gone through together, and the knowledge that it is not ever going to be fixed.
In addition, this drama failed to flesh out the story-line of certain characters so to help build a more meaningful and successful plot. It also relied too heavily on comedy in the earlier episodes to try to cover the weak writing and execution of certain scenes, which is unfortunate especially after learning that the novel itself is more serious.
The drama had the potential to be so much better than what we got, and that is very unfair to the actors who all did a very good job. Hope to see more of the actors who played the FL, ML, 2ML, 3ML ? (does Tang Shaoyi really count as one?) leading in future works, with better script.
The ending of this drama left me annoyed, with unanswered questions and sad regarding Joseon era Kang Tae Ha.
We were literally shown the reason Park Yeon Woo initially clung to modern day Kang Tae Ha was because she believed him her husband, the Joseon era Kang Tae Ha who's death in the beginning had left her heartbroken. Later, when she accepts that modern day Kang Tae Ha is not her husband because of how he initially treated her, she distanced herself from him and started calling him "Mr. Swindler".
It wasn't until much later when Park Yeon Woo see's modern day Kang Tae Ha's surgery scars and realizes he also had heart disease like Joseon era Kang Tae Ha, that she finally lets her guard down and gets close to modern Kang Tae Ha once more as she recognizes him as being her husband, Joseon era Kang Tae Ha. This is confirmed when she says "It's you my husband" after she saw his scars and started recalling how both of them are so similar in some of the things they have done and said. So to get to episode 12 and have a Park Yeon Woo who is now back in Joseon meet Joseon era Kang Tae Ha again only to treat him with the cold shoulder because the one she now loves is modern day Kang Tae Ha was very weird and contradictory by negating how she came to like and accept modern day Kang Tae Ha in the first place. It was an unnecessary love-triangle that did not need to be there if it were not going to be properly resolved. And many felt very bad for Joseon era Kang Tae Ha believing he deserved much better than what he got, especially as we observed how he has loved and protected Park Yeon Woo since childhood, and essentially it is due to his longing and-heart-brokenness over Yeon Woo that he reincarnated as modern day Kang Tae Ha. Over and over again it was confirmed that Joseon era Kang Tae Ha and modern day Kang Tae Ha were the same, but yet were treated as if they different individuals.
There were other plot issues with this drama definitely, but my biggest gripe was the failure of not fully consolidating Joseon era Kang Tae Ha and modern day Kang Tae Ha as one. Even if they had to have Joseon era Kang Tae Ha die when he did, they could have confirmed that it is literally due to his wish be reborn so he can be with Yeon Woo that we got modern day Kang Tae Ha. This could have been done with just a simple line from modern Kang Tae Ha when he reunites with Yeon Woo again, by having him say how he is finally able to be with Yeon Woo just as he had wished by being reborn as modern day Kang Tae Ha. That would have brought things full circle, and made it make more sense why Park Yeon Woo returned to modern day only after Joseon era Kang Tae Ha's journal was shown about his desire to be reborn as modern day Kang Tae Ha so he can be with Yeon Woo.
Providing a more fleshed out ending without many of the loose ends that went ignored or downright forgotten would have helped this drama end strongly.
In addition, no one should ever be faulted for being kind. If there's something a person should never be mocked about it is kindness.
