Title The Taoism Grandmaster Spoiler
Tie Lang 😢. I don't know why his death affected me the most. I think it's because in comparison with Zi Liuli, we were already forewarned it was going to happen so I was a bit more mentally prepared for it. But with Tie Lang his really hurt my feelings because of what a pure and innocent soul he was and given his identity, I really wished that he got to see the actualization of what he had fought and striven so hard for to accomplish. He and Zi Liuli I miss the most for the pureness of their heart and self-sacrificing nature without expecting a single thing in return.

Also, I am glad it was acknowledged that Zhang Ling also loved Zi Liuli. I sincerely preferred her more than Feifei. Zi Liuli helped Zhang Ling to learn an important lesson to not judge a person based on their background. Zi Liuli sacrificed everything in order that Zhang Ling may become who he was meant to be that is becoming the Taoism Seeker. She was one of his greatest support and I don't know if he realized it was almost always to her place that he went when he was feeling lost, hurt or confused.

I have been trying to figure out who the actor is that plays Gui Huo, the guard to Bai Qianji. For some odd reason he is not listed under the cast. He is not the only not listed too. There have been a few characters whom I don't see the person that plays them listed. And they weren't people who appeared for only one scene either.

This drama definitely did not need to be 60 episodes long. Could have been cut by half or at most 40 episodes long. There were a lot of dragged out and necessary scenes. Not well directed and it had potential to be better. However, it was clear that the director had no interest in telling a well plotted and directed drama. Some plot-lines were so ridiculous and the plot-armor for some characters was just beyond. It became apparent early on that I couldn't take this as a serious drama because the writer/director/editors of this drama certainly didn't take their own work seriously.

I think one of the biggest failure of this drama was that it made such a production of pontificating on the supposed love between the male and female lead but failed to prove it in a convincing way. The chemistry between the leads was absolutely lacking. The leads had more chemistry with supporting characters than they had with each other.

All in all not the worst drama but definitely not the best. Something to watch if you are absolutely bored and have no other option, but be ready to fast forward through some scenes and episodes to spare yourself some frustration.

The overall rating for this drama should be higher than what it is. Deserves to be a solid 8 at the very least. Story was engaging though it had its flaws and I enjoyed the chemistry between the leads. Hope to see Leon Lai in more lead roles.

hii- im rewatching this drama from when it first aired - i loved it then n loved it now - but strange enough i…
The FL does have her moments I will admit. I've reached episode 31, and I don't know if my issues with her character has more to do with the actress's portrayal or if it's the writing or a combination of both. There are a lot of absurdities in this drama as well which doesn't help, but I've managed to get closer to the end so that's something.

Finished 6 episodes and struggling to continue because I find the FL extremely obnoxious especially when it comes to the way she acts towards the ML. It is irritating and childish and I am beginning to question if the rating on here for this drama is a hoax. Being that I am in a drama slump, I am going to power through and hope it gets better. 😩

Title Tomorrow
A show worth watching.

Enjoyed how this drama highlighted real life struggles and situations while maintaining a bit of fantasy element. It presented viewers with scenarios that makes you think, reflect and empathize. Love, life, heartbreak, loss, it deals with it all while delivering it in a way that makes it digestible. My only complaint is that I wished it were more than 16 episodes because there are definitely story-lines that need more fleshing out and better resolution. The back story between KR and PJG is a definite tearjerker, and deserves an entire season of its own dedicated to it. Sincerely wish that there is a season 2.

An underrated drama.

Just finished watching and I must say the 7.7 current rating for this drama is misleading and unfair. Should be a solid 8 at least. The drama is entertaining and engaging. Might not be the best in its category but it is far from being the worst. Everyone in this drama played their part convincingly and the story-line kept me invested from start to finish. Are there things that I wish were done differently or at least better fleshed out? Definitely, but overall it is a nice watch.

Completed 4 episodes so far, and I am engrossed. It's nice to see for a change, actors looking the age of the characters they are supposed to be playing. I don't understand why this is an issue for some. But so far, the characters and story have been interesting and kept me tuned in. Maybe that is because I tend to appreciate proper story build up, and can deal with a story moving at a slow even pace as long as it flows well, which so far this does.

not u generalizing all c-drama over a show that got the worst douban rating in china history
Not you trying to trivialize a problematic issue with an asinine remark while dismissing the content of what was said. If you felt someway about it then check yourself. I'm not here for the foolishness.

Not done with the drama yet but had to come here to vent because I am sick & tired of the disgusting colorist & racist undertones found in a lot of C-dramas.

Not mentioning the blackface from like literally the 1st episode of this drama which should have been a loud warning, but I have to encounter lines like these within the same episode alone:

"Her lips are so thick...this must be an ape"

"I forgot to tell you...Your skin looks tanned now." Said as if this is a bad thing to look tanned.

It doesn't fail to amaze and disgust me how much C-Dramas are peppered with racist and colorist undertones. In the 21st century there is no excuse for this level of ignorance. It's disgusting the how comfortable writers are in inserting such insulting and demeaning lines. I guess I shouldn't be surprised from a society that views being sickly pale and super thin as beautiful.

Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan! 😍
These two have me smiling through each episode of this drama. Only seen up to episode 10 so far and I'm truly enjoying this pairing. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes when they become available. 😩

The rating on here is misleading. This drama deserves a much higher rating overall. The documentary style aspect of the drama is different, but not in a bad way. Was interesting to watch. I like how each episode had a specific theme/topic that it covered. The drama was able to bring out laughter and hurt at the same time as you experienced the emotions of the main leads. Each actor played their part convincingly. This is a great depiction on the highs and lows of romantic love, while also showcasing the love between friends, and family. The different bonds we form that help us to get through life.

I have mixed feelings about this drama and find it concerning that it is rated as high as it is. I can never get with dramas that seems to promote warped and somewhat toxic dynamics. Let's not even touch on the cringe worthy blatant display of colorist/racist mindset. As a non-Asian individual, I have to put up mental blocks at times for the toxic beauty standards promoted in Asian dramas.

Now onto the drama itself. There is nothing cute about a female that literally spends years of her life idling away, head in the clouds and all her energy spent chasing after a guy that has more than made it clear on several occasions that he is not interested. If the situation were reversed, the guy would be accused of harassment or even stalking for consistently chasing and clinging onto a girl that has said she doesn't like him and isn't interested in him. I was sincerely disturbed by the actions of the female lead. She displayed all the traits that I tend to despise in female characters. I couldn't fully buy into the main leads relationship because I couldn't shake off the feeling that it seems to promote not taking a person's "no" seriously. That if a person says they aren't interested, it doesn't matter, just keeping hounding them until they say "yes". My overall, rating of this drama is related more to the themes of friendships, building a loyal support system, and the way the drama touched on the pressure to meet expectations of family and oneself. When I didn't allow myself to think too much on the aspects of the drama that were troubling, I was able to enjoy it enough as something to pass time.

I have to admit that when I initially tried to watch this drama, I had to put it on pause within the first 10-15 mins, and didn't return to it for almost a year later because I was put off by the characterization of the female lead. However, due to being in a drama slump, I decided to give this another try and I'm glad that I did. Once you get past the first few episodes the characters grow on you. I enjoyed the progression of the relationship between the leads, though the drama could have done better with its pacing, I am for the most part satisfied with it.

I must say that the low rating for this drama is misleading and undeserved. I am glad I finally gave it a chance and watched it. The story I would say is one of persevering love and sacrifice, nothing new, sure. Too bad many are letting the ending take away from an overall well told story despite certain plot-holes and questionable plot.

This drama allowed me to witness and appreciate the versatility of the actress Zhu Xu Dan, in her various incarnations in this drama as the female lead. I have only ever seen her in Eternal Love aka TMPB, where her character had irritated me so much, so this was a pleasant surprise to see that she has range. This is also my first time watching a drama with the male lead, so I was shocked to learn just how young he is. I'm impressed.

While the drama does not neatly tie up loose ends regarding the leads, we at least are made aware...
*MILD SPOILER*

that they are at least happy together.
Yes, I would have preferred if we got to see more of them actually being together freely, happily and in love after having to wait for 3-4 lifetimes. It would have been satisfying if we got to see them finally get married and just living their life, but I'm glad that nonetheless we got some indication that they are together, though it is not fully clear where.

Also, I'm not sure what kind of "Heavenly Emperor" is so oblivious to the things going on around him that he is easily duped and quick to accuse without verifying things. 😒

This is a good drama to watch to pass time when you are in between dramas. Keep your expectations low and you will be pleasantly surprised.
