Just finished it and sweet does not even describe it. Sweet is a taste that fades after the last bite. This show is more like a good bowl of soup on an icy january evening that warms you from the toes up to the tip of your head and leaves you satisfied and happy. This show is like someone waking you up with a fresh cup of coffee on your nightstand. And although there is conflict (it is a drama after all), the atmosphere- mostly through the OST and the lovely chemistry of the cast is as peaceful as watching a sleeping pile of puppies.
Just wants to said in the ep when yang hua greeted a foreigner, his English was really good, also loves xukai…
They often scramble the sound in dramas on youtube if a background music comes up they don't have all the international publishing rights bought for. Happens on yokou dramas and mango and iqiyi ones , too.
Can someone recommend me more like this? I've seen Cherry Magic, and Ossan's Love.
OK my friend here we go: Kinou Nani Tabeta? a food and cooking centered show, older couple, wholesome No Touching At All a movie from 2014, salary men setting, a bit sad, have watched it several times Restart After Come Back Home another quite wholesome film, calm atmosphere, beautiful cinematography His - Koisuru Tsumori Nante Nakatta (+ sequel) excellent chemistry highschool couple, set in a coast town with surfers Utsukushii Kare high school/college setting, much less calm and soothing than the rest on my list, but high emotional impact this one, oh I cried rivers
Has he said that in an interview (not that he's married, but that he only films tame love scenes after the wedding) ? If not, it's all speculation. Being married does not hinder you kissing in character. Could still be the director wanting the scenes to be more static (with all the cameras driving around them) for visual purposes or even the the classic fear of arbitrary chinese censorship.
those people who died and bounced back to life or whatever.. this plot is starting to annoy meπππ€―π€―…
I get what you mean, the stakes are just not as high anymore after like the 3 quick resurrection (I call it the Dragon Ball Problem). I was fine with Yunhe coming back as a fox, that was set up early enough. Kittyboy, fine, the 9 lives thing is well known. But then you have that one come again, and Chang Yi is magical healed by a fruit the Heavenly king just carries around casually in his pocket and his two teachers also just plopped up again, also LuoLuo and Haoqing just kinda survived... well. Thats a bit fanfiction level of writing, the tag would be called "No canonically deaths, everyone lives". I was expecting a cleaned up version of Shunde as a very low earth immortal or even mortal as well, if you rebirth everyone, why not the psychopath princess as well in a fresh start.
That only means he has regular practice. He's an actor and wore a freaking mermaid costume, so why are most kisses so... middle school. I suppose it's also the directors fault.
So I am like 99% sure the ending song is Liu Yuning and Zheng Shunxi (even the melody is totally LYs style and Shunxis lullaby voice is very recognizable), someone knows who sings in the intro?
Hmm, I don't remember anything from season 1 except from the male lead's handsome face. Yuan Hao is just so my…
Oh yes, same here, he is so unfairly handsome and this braided curly hairstyle suits him sooo well! One thing I do remember is that INCREDIBLE kiss scene, that was a whole other temperature than C-Drama in general.
while waiting for Saturday to come.... can you please suggest other easy watch dramas with happy ending hehehe.…
Maybe The Romance of Tiger and Rose or The Romance of Hua Rong, both are more on the silly side, and Hua Rong has a kiss scene I still think about, huhu. And Pirates. For something shorter and a bit more Wuxia and bromanctic, I also liked The Silent Criminal, good slapstick scenes, too.
Another bothersome aspect I have noticed in Chinese dramas is actually two-fold. One is the ease with which characters…
Yeah true, I mean in period dramas (aka times without antibiotics), I get why people are so careful, but in modern dramas it's ridiculous. If you are feverish enough to faint and be brought to the school nurse or the hospital you need to stay at least a whole week at home- often they don't even make up the actors with pale skin, red noses or blue lips and the coughing does not sound real at all, too. On the other hand, the wonder medicines in period dramas annoy me as heck- no, a little powder on an arrow wound is not enough to heal you in 2 days to go and continue to fight and get hurt AGAIN.
This is.. so dumb. If you still want to watch it, I highly recommend putting on the live comments on viki, few things are better than ranting about a ridiculuos show like this with loads of other people.
I'm liking this show quite a bit, but I'm confused about one thing. In the case in episode five with the girls,…
Yeah, I saw that too, and I believe it might be a censorship thing, or even self censoring by the authors. I noticed - especially in period dramas- that if you have a cross dressing female character, they often get mistaken and obsessed over by other female characters who then tend to become batshit crazy when they find out "he" is actually a woman in disguise. Although in Under he the skin there are a enough implications toward that Lanxin actually liked Xiaoxuan romantically, now thats rare. But the obsessive character often turns to violence, scheming for revenge, murder or suicide and thats my friends is called internalized homophobia. And happens so often in C-Drama that the general "kill the gays" vibes can't be overlooked -_---- (Anyone seen Under the Power and that awful cousin for example, but there are more. I try to forget these scenes.)
Ep 21 Ewww Qiu Min, ewwww... first you lie to him and shock him to the bone, than you make him drunk and while he's drunk and sad, you seduce him to sleep with you while he's clearly not thinking straight and you know it and next morning you lie to him and say he's forced himself on you.. EWWWW. Disgusting. No more pity for Qiu Min in this household. Even if Qiu Yan should have been nicer to her, thats no reason to use tricks and treachery to basically rape Qin Xuan, the guy she says she loves.
I don't know about the other actors, but I am pretty sure Xiao Yuliang uses his own voice? It might be dubbed by himself, but if I get one real voice in a (well cheap) little romantic comedy, thats already a plus. I like the slapstick comedy in this show a lot, and the singles league always cracks me up (now thats an idea I have not seen before), perfect to get your mind of.. the bad things. Also I really appreciate the work done in Cao Yuchens wig, it looks much better than in his previous dramas!
So I counted after my 1 rewatch now, how often Si Feng : spits blood/bleeds/gets a bad hit/gets poisoned/straight up dies and it came up to a whopping 57 times!!!!!!!! That has to be a record. Not counting the general emotional pain.
Next rewatch I'll count the blood spitting only from Si Feng and everyone els, lol. Or the frustrated fist clench.
Also this show is even more ambigously gay in the end than I remember, Bai Ling and Rahu Ketu give probably the strongest vibes, but I'm also convinced Green Dragon has a major soft spot for Flying Snake.. ANd Yuan Lang is a classical gayTM coded villain, the sass, the fan the vanity, the he even has an army of pretty young henchmen. And of course the whole Si Feng and Rahu Ketu mess.
YES! Fairy tale heroic is such a perfect description ! I really love the costumes too! Too bad we don't get any…
Ah I see- it's not the same if you're at home and nobody else is wearing that stuff (and no swordsmaster either), yeah. I get it. Before the pandemic I've done live action role play and we had a huge event with more than 7000 people in medieaval and fantasy costumes camping for a week on a hill and fighting a dragons war.. aahh everyone looked sooo good and you had heros and chivalry and evil schemers and sword fights and people chanting spells. I have not touched my costume since 2020, because... well the vibe is not right wearing it at home (not knowing when I properly get to wear it again, *sigh*). Especially the armour and the (foam) weapons ;_;.

Oh dear, I am getting hyped for this drama.
