I give it a 7. Would get a 10 except for the character for the lead female. She's super violent and controlling over others. It's supposed to be cute? It's abusive.
I like the drama and love the lead male - Choi Kang Soo. I dislike the "lead" female. Her violent actions were bizarre and over the top, and made it impossible for me to empathize with her. (Bad writing?). So I couldn't cheer on any romantic relationship between the violent female and anyone. I It just didn't give me any feels. If lead female hadn't been so abusively violent, the drama would get a 10 from me.
Am I only one who think yuan zhan and feng qing Chen are a better couple?
they had more interaction to build upon. The Qing Chen with Yuan Ling is just there. No interactions, no why, just plonk, they are a couple. As beautiful a couple that they are, I can't feel any tears when bad things happen to them. I want to, it just doesn't happen.
It's a decent plot but I can't quite get over the lack of real chemistry between the OTP from beginning…
agree. There was never a buildup to the relationship of OTP. Feng Qing Chen had more interaction and building of relationship with Yuan Zhan. I like the drama but don't get the "feels" for the leads.
It was unexpectedly a great ending.Zhang bin bin was so freaking sexy in the final episode. He is such good actor…
true. And when he killed Jing Ke he strutted like a mad dog, showing the King couldn't hold it in. That part showed that Zhang Bin Bin is no ordinary actor. Wow.
Just watched the ending on YT but unsubbed - I knew there wasn't going to be a happy ending but Ying Zheng…
It wasn't happy but it made sense, given how each character's values were. Sun Li made a decision to teach the King what it was to lose a loved one by sacrificing herself. It really did make sense but it was sad. It fit her personality of altruism.
My scattered thoughts:-In the end I don’t think Li has loved the king!! She asked him not to kill Jing Ke even…
I saw it differently. Recall this - Li pretended she was attacking the King, ran towards him like she was, then turned her own short sword away from him towards herself.
Recall her last words to him, that she knew the only way he could be a good leader is if he lost someone HE really loved. And that was her.
She loved him but knew that he couldn't understand the suffering of people losing their loved ones to his wars. She gave her life to teach him what that felt like.
She could have saved her own life easily, but she provoked him.
She loved Jing Ke but had moved on from that.
Yes, I hated to see Han Shen killed but he was the type to die in battle or die for those he loves. Truly a righteous man. And my new crush!
The end can be seen as tragic or it can be seen as possibly important in having the King experience great loss so that he could be a better ruler.
I finished this drama last night. Vin Zhang Binbin is truly an amazing actor. Dilraba has her own pluses. But Wow Zhang Binbin. The last episode - genius. And now i have a new crush -the actor Li Tai who played Han Shin - the noble, strong, silent, protective "white knight" type. :)
This drama also had alot of really good soundtracks.
But his acting is good.
